I'd like him to stay but I doubt he'll get as much game time as under Harry and that may not go down well with him.
Metal Spurs
again? seriously!!!
YT_Boy
you get the impression that the lovely Sylvie wants the family together in germany, which could swing the deal

3rd??

Very talented player no doubt but unless he can play in free role he will often make a team unbalanced. I hate the fact England chose a donkey like Milner because he works hard and protects his full back etc and it does seem hypocritical but I dont see Rafa fitting into AVBs plans with a more dynamic high pressing 4-3-3. You just have to look at the Portugal game to see he struggled big time when given any defensive responsibility. Would be a loss but I don't see him starting with AVB or being happy being used as someone to change the game off the bench. Would be surprised if he stays to be honest.

Time to cut the strings, let him leave and go back to Hamburg if that's what he wants, it was a pleasure watching him, but at times a nightmare, he can go with Modric to the airport, no loss, we can survive........
spu 4 life
50/50 whether he stays. And I think Modric may yet stay if he can't get the Real gig (btw I'm not basing this on the dodgy SSN "recording").

Yes hamburg like him....but i wish they would shut the hell up now. Hes under contact here at Spurs and the last time i looked we only have him and Defoe for upfront. Why would the club agree to let him go with no one in first?? yeah exactly...shut up hamburg.

I am a big admirer of VDV, his obvious class and ability, and also his limitations, and there are several factors that need to be borne in mind when considering the possibility of him leaving. 1) Firstly he has always maintained that the attraction in playing for Redknapp was the lack of tactics, rigid systems, and discipline, which allowed "free style football" for him and some others. Could he be expectected to fit into a fluid flowing and pacy high line system as favoured by AVB. 2) His fitness has never been the best, his ability to last 90 minutes regularly, has long been in doubt. 3) With Gylfi Sigurdson on board, a younger, hungrier player, with greater pace and mobility, and a better engine, wanting to establish himself and make a statement, can we now afford to cash in on VDV for a decent profit and re-invest the proceeds in player/players better suited to AVB's needs. 3) He must only be allowed to go for a realistic fee, if Hamburg or anyone else want him, they will or should have to pay 12-15M for him. We should bear in mind that his value will only diminish in the future, especially if he fails to shine in AVB's era at Spurs.

Frank - print that out and send to Mr D Levy at N17, your spot on, spot on, you wise old fox :-)

What Frank said. Very balanced.

Big c and frank I think both spot on, he said "I'm a starter" under Harry when left out for a bit so he's hardly going to hold back under AVB. Also have you even know Mr Levy not to get a good price for a player, right now his value is only going to go one way...... Bye bye Rafa

I would like him to stay. How he was never a starter for holland is beyond me. When he came on as sub he changed the game with his vision and passes and he popped up with far more goals than Modric. VDV is not a ball winner that's his only flaw for me. Keep him Levy, in you i (hopefully we) trust!!
