NextGen: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Anderlecht

NextGen: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Anderlecht

Our young Spurs make their final group appearance against the Belgium side at 1pm today needing only a point to guarantee a place in the knock-out stages of the competition.

What makes this game all the more interesting is that much like Spurs and Panathinaikos in the Europa League, our youngsters, only need a point, but should they lose the game, it will be their opponents that qualify in second place and Spurs go out.

Spurs secured a 1-1 draw in Brussels in what was reported to be a fairly even game, but will be full of self belief after their outstanding 4-1 win against current to table toppers and already qualified Barcelona, we have to be optimistic of a good result today, especially when the pressure will be, you assume be more on our opponents who have to take the game to us.

Tim Sherwood has regularly stated that this competition is the priority for his development squad, so I expect to see the players fired up and focussed to get at least the point they need to progress in the new year knock-out stages...

I woud assume that Sherwood is in charge. it will be interesting what they do to replace Inglethorpe, whether they promote from within or look to bring in someone else. I quite liked the idea that they picked a successful and promising league manager in Alex, when they did, wonder if they will try the same again?

Sherwood is going to move on to bigger things soon enough. Would like him to take charge of this team and bring in an ex spur like Edinburgh who has been doing well non league and groom him up into the set up

Sherwood deserves great credit for the job he has done with these youngsters both this season and last. They were unlucky last year, they were doing well only for some office dick-head to cock up the paper work, and get them disqualified. The only problem is if another club comes in as Blackburn did, and they manage to tempt him, perhaps Levy may find it more difficult to keep him next time.

Lost 2-0, so Anderlecht qualify in second place, but Spurs get in as one of the four best 3rd place teams
