Spurs await Europa league Draw!

Sometime around lunchtime today, Tottenham's next European opponents will be revealed.

In fact, If I'm not mistaken, not only will our next opponents be discovered, but should we win that game, we will already know the two possible teams we could face in the last sixteen, as UEFA like to double up their draws, which perhaps saves them some cash, but certainly saves the rest of us the immense boredom of these events.

Frustratingly for Spurs they have made their life more difficult that it could have ideally have been in finishing runners up to Lazio in the group stage. Those dropped points could prove costly as we now have to face either a group winner or a few teams from the Champions league, who finished third place and therefore sneak back into European competition via the back entrance.

At the risk of forgetting one team and then being embarrassed at our drawing them, here is the list of potential teams we could face in the next round: Viktoria Pizen, Fernabache, Bordeaux, Steaua Bucharest, Dnipro, Racing Genk, Rubin Kazan, Lyon, Mentalist Kharkiv, Hannover 96, Olympiakos, Benfica or CFR Cluj.

I'd say Genk would be the most comfortable over 2 legs
Lyon are the only team there that we need to avoid. We'd be very unlucky to get drawn against them. Otherwise I see no reason why we shouldnt progress to the next round. COYS!
Benfica please. Cheap Easyjet flight, 3-4 days surfing and a Spurs away trip at a proper historic club.
I actually think we done ourselves a favor by finishing runners up. Some of the teams who finished second our much tougher than some of the teams we could get.
i think we will get Steaua or Cluj...
Could beat any of those teams, could quite easily loose to any aswell. Hannover would be a good game to watch, Lyon are the real danger but i would rather watch a decent game against a decent team than scrape a 2-1 agg win over Dnipro! Speaking to a fellow spud in the boozer last night (rare in huddersfield) and strange to hear his view on current affairs. Unles Bale is playing out of his skin, do we actually function better without him as a team? A bit random i know but thought it interestng enough to bring up.
I think Genk would be best, not too heavy on the traveling front which will help us in our push for 4th too.
I would also like to avoid a long and tiring trip for the players.
Genk is easily the best option. As far as I can see it's either a tricky tie or a long distance other than that. Don't fancy Ukraine or Romania in the middle of February.
We'll take apart anyone left in this competition. We are Tottenham Hotspurs, and knock-out European nights are what we do!

Regarding the clubs mentioned by Ox as possibles, remember one thing, they all will be hoping they don't draw us, we are TOTTENHAM, WE ARE TOTTENHAM, SUPER TOTTENHAM FROM THE LANE
spu 4 life
Ac Milan then Real Madrid, yes you guessed it we will get Chelsea or Lyon in the first knock out round!
Anyone know roughly what time the draw is??
The draw is at 1pm UK time (approx). In terms of who we get, I don't care. If we take the competition seriously and strengthen the squad properly in January I believe we could win the competition, irrelevant of who we draw.
Cheers Spurious ;-)
Spurs Vs Lyon
At least Lyon will be able to say they were beaten by the eventual winners!
Of course we got Lyon now time for Chelsea or some Russian team!
Lyon ay, at least its game a should enjoy watching rather than forcing myself to watch us play Pizen.
Couldn't have got much hard, playing against champions league regulars and both ties start at home. Bring it on!!!
Ha u couldn't make it up! Well we all want champions leauge footy to watch us us play europes best.....well here go COYS
Spurs v Lyon, then Inter Milan or Cluj
and what should be Inter after we beat Lyon, didnt think we were in the champions league?
Lyon games on 14 and 21 february
Lyon and Inter, this is the Champions League without the cash!
Tactically Challenge
Then again, we are a Champions League team too!
Tactically Challenge
On paper the worst possible draw we could have had!
Then again if your gonna win the cup then your gonan have to beat the big teams! COYS!!!
Bloody tough draws, could have been easier but I suppose you have to beat the best to win it.
Eales was interviewed on SSN re. the Jan window. His reply was that AVB has gone public saying "he is happy with the current quality of the squad" an with the likes of BAE, Kaboul, Parker all close to returns n January that wlensure the squad is good enough, a little bird tells me it will be a long window with little Spurs activity.
If we seriously consider ourselves Champions League standard then these are the sort of ties we should be expecting to play each year. Granted they won't be easy but I can assure you that our opponents will be less happy with the draw than we are. This is why it was right for us to take the Europa League seriously this season. COYS!
anyone would of thought it was Platini who did that draw. talk about tough, but lets show em we are the best. On another note, reading vital talking about Thudd and saying they would like him coz for one he is a GOOD TACKLER..... are they watching the right person LOL
Frank I'm sure AVB will be expecting a new player or two in January. He is probably under strict instructions from Levy to keep things quiet so ENIC can try and 'steal' a few players as cheaply as possible. Nothing new there either!
Nice, sit that on the back burner; get down to business with stoke @ home, taking all three points from our next four holiday matches.

STEVEYNIX - the only thing hudd tackles well is a burger & fries.
spu 4 life
AVB has asked for a car door for Christmas with no glass, should be a triffic January window!!
gonna be a bad year for English teams in Europe this season..
Fantastic draw for spurs.......both draws. Good test of our squad. Side note.......not expecting to see Adebayor this w'end, injured.(hope i'm wrong though). St' etiennes ..Aubameyang....i'm thinking of ya'
Thia what you gotta love about Spurs fans we want the big games, unlike the gooner squad bemoaning the recent champions league draw. 8 years and counting

Brilliant draw, WHL will be rocking and we can take those two no problem, just ask Garth Bale. Lyon may be second in Ligue 1 buts that's probably the equivalent to 8th in the prem, you fancy us against Norwich! COME ON!
