Archer Recalled from Wycombe loan.

It has been confirmed that Jordan Archer has returned to Spurs, after spending the season on loan with Wycombe Wanderers.

Jordan, who will be twenty in two weeks time, has performed really well for both Wycombe and Scotland U-21s this season and has looked to be a very promising prospect for the future, as he appears to have the technique and temperament to step up the levels over the coming seasons. After spending much of last season playing in the Conference North, with Bishops Stortford, last season, a seasons loan to Wycombe, seemed a decent upgrade for a keeper so young and inexperienced, but he has received great reviews in his 29 games since he joined at the end of September, initially on an emergency loan.

With yesterdays news that Jonathan Miles have left the club on loan, the return of Archer, may well be to step back into the development sides, as our coaches look to evaluate what progress has been made whilst he was away, but would that be a sensible move, to bring back a player who was playing league football to put him into development football? If that isn't the reason, can we speculate that there may be something wrong with either Lloris or Friedel and Archer has been brought back for cover? I suppose we will find that out tomorrow...

One to be forgotten for the rest of the season

is he really Ken? though I am surprised at this recall. I do wonder if there was an issue that forced Spurs to make the call. do we have one of Hugo or Brad struggling, and it was either recalling Archer that had at least played 60 competitive games and was a scotland U21 or promote Miles that though the same age (ish) has never played a league game at any level. I know that Wycombe brought back a young keeper from Oxford City, who was on loan there that they rate highly. was there a thinking that because Wucome are probably safe from relegation they were looking to try him for a few games at the expense of Archer who isnt their player and will definitely not be there next season. based on that alone, spurs might have felt it would be good to take a close look at him as it was better that than sitting on the bench in league 2. as the wycombe youngster was brought back at the start of this week, could spurs have looked to have reloaned him or even at the preference of Miles to Dagenham, been an option, but reading what was written, it seems that it was spurs that made the recall, not wyclombe saying they didnt want or need him.. I keep thinking that we have an issue, even if minor to one of our keepers

at the start of this season, archer signed a three year contract, so I hope they back his ability with an opportunity at some stage soonish

A nice little video of AVB telling those wobbling fans, {you know who you are}, to keep the faith. COYS COAVB. ........................... http://www.fanatix.com/news/video-tottenham-boss-andre-villas-boas-tells-spurs-fans-to-keep-faith/113215/?

hopefully there's not an issue with Lloris or we can wave top 4 goodbye....perhaps AVB just wants him back and around to assess him for the rest of the season to see if he can make the step up next year for us and so not buy another keeper...

In AVB's "team news" on the official site he made no mention of a problem with Hugo or Brad.

Went to school with that Archer. Younger year. Mad seeing him be a top top prospect to be a future Spurs goalie. Nut of course there's still a long way to go for him but good luck to him

I'd rather have Archer than Friedel as back up any day.

Great article here by Garth Crooks about Spurs' first black footballer in 1910 a certain Walter Tull. totally surprised garth as he thought he was our first black player. By all accounts Tull was destined to be one of our greats, but unhappily it didn't turn out that way. Very interesting article, but far too short in my opinion. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/mar/25/tottenham-walter-tull-military-cross

Tottenham, who have no fresh injury concerns after the international break, have been boosted by the return to training of Younès Kaboul, who has been out since undergoing knee surgery in August. Villas-Boas has been pleased with how he has responded in training and is hopeful that he can still play some part in the run-in. "He has trained the last two days 100% with the team," Villas-Boas said. "He is going to rest on Friday. Next week he is going to come back and train again with the team. If he goes without pain, it can mean 10 days for him to be match fit if all goes without interruption. Ten to 15 days. But without any pressure because it is a very sensitive situation for him."

Seems Lloris out rumours were possibly started by some scum fans. So I would still think Lloris to start today.

Seems Walcott, Wilshere & Diaby (9 months) are out - really want Reading to capitalise on that and get a draw or even a win at library. Chelsea too have a tough away game at Southampton, followed in 46 hrs against United at FA Cup. So, every team has its own problem. We just have to start registering some points, whether its one or 3. Swansea away is always tougher - so I wouldnt be expecting much out of this game.

Having Archer back adds anther string to our bow !!!

I think you should get the Spanish Archer for that one Spu...;)

Ox, I would totally agree with you regarding the recalling of a player who is playing in meaningful 1st team games albeit at a lower level, where he will experience the pressures of real games, trying to get results, the physical pressure, which is often greater at that level than further up the scale. Although I hope it isn't the case, the only reasonable reason would be if there is a problem either real, or potential, for either Lloris or Friedel, failing that the decision is folly.

Shedboy2's post could make sense, with Cudacinni gone, Friedel a year older (soon to be an OAP), perhaps AVB want's to have a good look at Archer in training, and with the GKing coach, before deciding whether to go into the market for No.2 or 3 GKer for next year. We really need a No.2 of a similar type, i.e, the goal keeper sweeper type, if not of course comparable ability to Lloris, rather than Freidel who is of a totally different philosophy, and who sets defenders different problems of positioning and how deep they need to defend. Perhaps Archer may fit this bill.
Frank
very droll Spu 4 life.
Frank
Mystery solved then, Lloris slight knee injury left out as a precaution, hopefully training on Monday.
Frank
I hope Jordan enjoyed his day yesterday.
