'If It's Football, It's Vital'

To the End

We all knew what this was. Crucial does not even begin to cover it. After the heroics at the Bridge it would be so like us to slip up against lesser opposition. This simply could not be allowed to happen. No margin for error, and Stoke away is always such a tough ask. A draw was not an option. This was a match for Spurs fans to dread. Fear not. We did the unexpected. A professional job. We cleared the hurdle.

We gave ourselves a lot to do by conceding early. We're not so good at clean sheets at the minute, which considering centre half is where we apparently have the most strength in depth is puzzling. And worrying. Terrible defending at a set piece (again). Lloris really shouldn't have let that one get by him. But we came back at them and created a few chances. Dempsey scored another crucial goal - does he score any other kind? - in bizarre fashion and it was back on. Brilliant or blind luck? Not sure I really care.

We dominated the second half, helped by the sending off of Charlie Adam. Harsh? Probably. Deserved? For what happened in Blackpool two years ago, undoubtedly. Stoke dropped deep and we had to find a way through. There were chances, we looked capable. We stayed patient, probed and, yet again, we scored late on. Resilience was never a trait traditionally associated with Spurs but yet again we have shown that we simply will not give up. And, for the first time since New Year's Day, we won a match without a goal from Gareth Bale. That's an unbelievable 22 matches. Which can only mean that Adebayor has finally woken up. If he'd started a couple of months ago we may already have made it. It's infuriating to know that the striker we so desperately need has been among us all along. We all knew it really, which is why we've got so hacked off with him. No point worrying about that now. Just perform in the next match. We'll deal with the rest later.

We did what was needed and now find ourselves needing a favour from Wigan at Arsenal. This would not be an entirely selfless act on Wigan's part. They need to win to stay up. Anything else and they are down. A draw suits neither team but it'd us nicely. Should the worst happen and Arsenal win we will be asking a favour of Newcastle. Which, given their terrible form and the comments made by Alan Pardew, is not something a desirable position to be in. Speaking of which, seriously? What manager ever says he doesn't care if they lose 4-0 at home? I digress.

Whatever happens on Tuesday at the Emirates, the fight for Champions' League football cannot be resolved until the last day of the season. Another final day shoot out with Arsenal. 2006 saw some bad mince producing a dose of the squits which is largely held to account for our failure to beat West Ham and qualify. (Point of fact: Arsenal's opponents that day? Wigan Athletic. Spooky...) 2012 saw a catastrophic second half of the season put us in a position that we should never have found ourselves in. Third should've been wrapped up weeks before. It wasn't. We finished fourth and, thanks to Chelsea (and Liverpool) we found ourselves out in the cold again. The only time that rule has ever been put into practice. This season we could make a similar kind of unwanted history if we become the team with the highest ever points tally to finish fifth. It seems likely that someone is going to. Our previous two final day shoot outs with Arsenal have not been successful. Will it be third time lucky?

It's going to the wire. There is now something to play for on the last day of the season on a regular basis. The next step is to have it all sewn up several weeks before. Can't imagine that idea catching on... Whatever happens we have already equalled last season's points tally, so we have at least matched last year's performance. We haven't capitulated when many suggested we would. We've found consistency. It's been a good year. It's just that the competition has been stiffer. It would be so sweet to cap it all by finishing in the top four. On Saturday we did all we could. We will know at 10pm on Tuesday what else is required. Wigan, we saluted your triumph on Saturday. We are praying for another. To quote Ox: COYWA!!!

Exciting? Yes. Excruciating? Yes. Frustating? Yes. Dull? Never. Oh the life of a Spurs fan! Whatever happens it's been a good season and Europe awaits us again next season. COYS!

It seems the last few years has been a constant battle with Arsenal and maybe it’s our year where we finally finish above them. Wigan and Newcastle are no push over’s, but Arsenal seem to have the horrible habit of pulling it out of the bag when they need to. I was thinking about this last night, assuming of course that we beat sunderland, we only need arsenal to DRAW against EITHER Wigan or Newcastle. If these were 2 games in the middle of the season how many of us we think arsenal would waltz in and take 6 points?? It’s a massive game for Wigan tonight, they need 3 points. The talk that Martinez will turn up all guns blazing with a 2-5-3 formation won’t happen. He knows they would get annihilated. I can see a cagey game up until the final 20 where both teams need a goal. I was a bit pessimistic yesterday, but ive woken up on the better side today.
hudderspur
Good article Yorkspur. Yes the competition has been stronger than last year, we have more points than ever in the PL, but nothing is yet decided. The irony of it is, that it wasn't our showings against our rivals for honours that may cost us, we have victories over Man U, Man City, and Arsenal, so have held our own in this company, the "sugar daddy" clubs that everyone moans about. Our nemesis has been the likes of Wigan to whom we dropped 5/6, and Norwich 4/6 and an inexplicable home defeat against Fulham with their abysmal away record. We lack true consistency, a key ingredient for a really successful football club.
Frank
Lesser opposition? We cannot underestimate these teams…. This is the Premier League. Against Stoke, it was Bale and Adebayor who were caught napping for the goal imo. If they had stuck to their men and challenged for the ball then Lloris would not have had to pick the ball out of the back of the net. Against Sunderland we have to work harder against these set pieces. Everyone has to put the effort in up and down the pitch or we are just gifting teams. Going forward we have to absolutely batter them and can’t just rely on grabbing a last minute goal. Our stats over the last 5 games are pretty impressive, our shots on goal are always high, possession in their halves favor us…so I’m sure we will work hard give Sunderland a torrid time! This time, a clean sheet and decisive win is the way to finish the season. That would be perfect. The lads seem to have a good spirit about them and we have to be proud with the effort they all are putting in. I for one can wait to cheer them on to the pitch and will give it 100% support until the end. I knew it would go down to the wire. COYBS!!!

wigan are so obviously going to lose. and even if they win we'll lose to sunderland. Its inevitable. just face it. I for one can't wait for all the european trips and games I'll actually be able to get tickets for next season and the chance at a trophy in the europa league! seriously though, whatever happens, and whatever anyone says, its been a ******** good season and I'm bloody proud of what we've acheived with the players we've lost and the pressure AVBs been under. massive kudos to AVB for what hes done. now COYWA

even if we don't qualify, win on saturday and thats our highest ever points tally in the premier league era. considering what was being predicted at the start of the season I think thats mightily impressive!

I posted this in this mornings other article but I think it its here-c'mon wigan keep believing---points dropped here or there are irrelevant now if your looking at that you must also look at the amount of games we have came from behind or scored late to rescue points this season-if the bigger teams always beat the smaller teams the league would be predictable and boring(QPR 1-0 Chavs)and many other upsets throughout the season thats what makes the BPL one of the best leagues in the world if not the best---anyway I am proud of what we have achieved so far this season with a new manager and next season 3 out of the top 4 will have new managers maybe we can capitalise in that---Well done AVB Spurs finally have a backbone and a fighting spirit something that has been missing for a long time-------COYS---BELIEVE!!!!

Despite Adam's sending off helping us, it infuriated me. He is an idiot. His tackle was a dead cert yellow. Bale was off. There were plenty of other players in a better position to hinder Bale, but for some reason he thought that his slo-mo sliding tackle could dispossess one of the fastest players in the EPL from behind. I do believe that he was going for the ball, but it was so ill-advised given how much cover was available, and the fact that it was around the half-way line! As for Adebayor, AVB should have been playing him earlier. We know that he was capable of terrible performances, but we all know that Defoe will run out of steam. Defoe has an average of 12 EPL goals a season. He is going to end on around that again - despite being one of the top scorers in the opening 4 months. If Ade played earlier, he probably would have got going earlier, and we could have finished more strongly. Too late now. Time for him to see off Sunderland.
TonyRich
TR it was vertonghen he tackled not bale
wiltshirespur
We can argue all day about if's, buts and maybe's. Likewise every other club could do the same. The FACT is we are in with a shout of top 4 and it will go down to the last game of the season. Who would have taken that in August?
What we need to look at is the fire power of the squad. We are now competing with the likes of Arsenal/Chelsea for points, only their goal differences are far superior to ours. We don't put teams to the sword like they do. This summer is Levy's time to act, we have caught up with Arsenal, Moyes at Utd is going to feel some pressure. Both Citeh and Chelsea will invest heavily so we need to invest in quality.
yiddyboy

Frank - it is not consistency. It is about having a good squad for the whole season. We are running out of steam now, because we had no proper back up for Lennon, Bale, Bae, Defoe. Our squad was not settled when the season kicked off. We played most of season with a RB or CB at LB. It is far from ideal. You just cannot be consistent when playing players out of position for so long. You can wing it for a couple of games, yes, but not whole season. Arsenal and Chelsea have more rounded and stronger squads. Our first XI is more than good enough. Despite you saying that we are not consistent enough, we are still one or two points off where we want to be. This is remarkable, and shows how good our first team is. We just need AVB to get a better level of performance - especially at home, and I will be happy with our progress.
TonyRich
Whatever happens, it's been an exciting season and I'm proud of the squad and management, who have been united for the most part and showed some real backbone. All still to hope and pray/play for. COYL's!

Yiddyboy, don't forget liverpool, they will be a serious threat next season, with or without Suarez. If we discount Everton without Moyes at the helm, that makes 6 of us realistically battling for only 4 places.Levy must spend big ,next season will be tougher.
Greavesaboveall
Greavesaboveall - Good shout.
In AVB we have someone who has the tactical knowledge to win/draw games where we normally get hammered. He needs to bring in a couple of his very own signings and we need to learn to convert more chances.

I see QPR are wanting Scotty Parker to bring them straight back up. He can go in the summer if it was my choice. Good servant but shelf-life has arrived!
yiddyboy
For me, a truer reflection of this seasons possible progression or not, will be shown come the start of next season / end of august. But...i'd love to see an end to le' arse's season tonight !!...lol
82spursdebut
As for Adebayor waking up.....yes, good performance vs chelski.....but i thought he were poor vs Stoke (except in his post match interview).
82spursdebut
Good to see O'Bika..scoring for under 21's.....be just reward, if he got a place on subs bench vs Sunderland ( as well as Defoe ).
82spursdebut
AVB has made Spurs a different prospect this season. Our rocky start under a new manager was to be expected but he steadied the ship far quicker then Rodgers at Liverpool (who many on here wanted as our nerw manager!) two league defeats since christmas with a patched up squad - slump what slump! The a lack of Kaboul and more so Sandro is tellling by the small number of clean sheets we have amassed. A more considered off season with a detailed knowledge of where AVB wants the squad to be trimmed and or improved should see us get the new season under way in fine style while the top three teams in the league get to grips with new managers and new management styles. Getting signings in early maybe the key as the big spenders look to make statements of intent for their new managers.
Slurms McKenzie
Great season.Items to adds in June - new deals for AVB and Bale.Levy to buy a striker. Townsend to provide wing cover. We may end up 5th with highest ever points total, no shame in that. However next season could be golden as we have settled manager and players or more difficult as others spend more than we will to back their new managers. The future may be about to turn lilywhite. I read somewhere that we are on course to reach our record points tally in the league this season; if that is achieved, you have to accept it has been a decent season, regardless of reaching the Champions League or not. I will be frustrated & disappointed if we don't reach it but with the squad so poorly balanced in the majority of our games & Dempsey & Bale having to provide the goal threat that should have been provided by Defoe (had his usual purple patch & is again nowhere to be seen on the scoreboards) & Adebayor (has the ability to be one of the best strikers in the league but to rarely uses it to any helpful effect) it is a job well done to be where we are. We obviously need to move forward & improve but having lost Modric, VDV, King &, essentially, Adebayor we have coped well & can now hopefully bring in a striker & a left back of the required quality (quality is all I'm bothered about, not the reputation of the player) to kick on next season & secure a top four spot. Looking back at our squad from a few seasons ago, it's astonishing to think we had the likes of Bassong, Pienaar, Kranjcar, Corluka, etc. all sitting wasting on the bench. Under the current regime, I cant help but think they would have been used to devastating effect within the squad. Coulda, woulda, shoulda, I suppose.

Wigan will record an historic victory tonight...and then we'll draw against Sunderland fighting for their lives..:(..As for the record PL Points total all it tells is how poor the prem has been this year...what counts is that we finish in the top4 teams...
shedboy2
Topho we are definitly harder to beat but changing a deep rooted mental approach by a club can't be achieved over one or two months this will change over seasons. What Spurs still lack is the belief that we HAVE to beat "lesser" teams as opposed to the attitude that we will beat them. Too often we turn up to these games waiting for the opposition to roll over and simply give us the points. If we come up against any kind of resistance we struggle to cope with it. My biggest complaint of the season is the number of games where we have only turned up for a single half. The chelsea game is a good recent example of this. This I feel is AVB's biggest challenge as Spurs manager not signing a world class striker but getting the team to fire on all cylinders for the majority of the game and to grind out results when needed. There are definite signs that the club is moving in that direction but at this stage its a case of alot done but more to do!
Slurms McKenzie
Come on Shedboy getting 72 points can not be dismissed so easily. It shows that AVB has improved the team and that we are gathering more points over the course of a season. If that trend were to continue we would start finishing the league even higher up the table. The utter implosion of the last couple of seasons has been avoided this year and hopefully that monkey is off our backs for future seasons. Yes a Champions League place would be the icing on the cake but is by no means a deal breaker this season!
Slurms McKenzie
Slightly off topic -- just wondering why the u21's are playing away to Liverpool or Man U in the final. Surely topping the elite group should give us home advantage. Anyway, congrats to the young uns and COYWA tonight

Some Spurs ITKs saying, we have almost completed our first signing - Ante Rebic and transfer fee payment structure is being discussed with RNK Split.

With United, City and Chelsea all changing managers there will also be new faces in the playing staff too. We should take advantage by making deals before the window opens but more importantly before the new manager arrive with their personal war chests
yiddyboy
72 points if we win out last game. That will be our highest ever total over 38 games, and only once have we gained more points since the three for a win was adopted in the 80-81 season, being 77 points in 84-85 when it was a 42 game season. So, missing out on CL will be disappointing and unfortunate, but definitely not a failure.

To be honest Arsenal look like the side scared of relegation, tearing around, crashing into 50-50's and playing a very high tempo. Wigan have looked like they are sleep-walking to relegation with little or no goal-threat and Spurs-like defending on corners. Great Maloney equaliser but I hope Martinez can raise their game in the second half and put those smug Arsenal prats in their place, but at the moment it looks like Arsenal will have too much for them. Incidentally, cannot see anything in MacCarthur that would suggest we should sign him, but McManaman would be a good back-up for Lennon. Anyway, Come on Wigan...you need it as much as we do. In-spurs-ational
All we can do is make sure we are fully focused against Sunderland. One thing to our advantage is they are now safe. Newcastle at home have a passionate crowd and im sure they will want an end of season victory, although i can't see it, best we can hope for is a draw.
spurfect one
Well its all even for last game of the season - us and Arsenal play teams that are now safe. I guess all we can do is our own business and see if Arsenal manage to do theirs. Usually there are twists and turns on last day and in all honesty the only twists and turns can be ours and Arsenal games because everything else is done.

Newcastle are capable of beating or getting a draw to Arsenal but then Arsenal are equally capable of winning and continuing their good run.

I just hope we win our last game and don't let ourselves down. It would be more painful if Arsenal draw or lose and we lose, so I really hope we win and accept our fate whatever that will be.
thfan
thfan, absolutely. let's get the win and 72 points. if that isn't good enough, then so be it. I don't think we could have asked for more at the start of the season

Interesting facts about Martinez never getting Wigan any higher than Steve Bruce when he was in charge, in fact it was mentioned that Wigan have been progressively getting worse. So jury out as to how good Martinez actually is as a manager.

Looking at the teams relegated I wonder if there is any gems amongst them that are worth a punt to add to our squad.

RAF Yid - QPR were a joke and the mistake the QPR board made was letting HR go mad in the transfer window and spend all that money. I feel sorry for QPR they didn't know what we knew, that HR bigs himself up and believes his own hype. There will be a few players leaving QPR that is for sure and they will be stuck with a few because players like JJ will not move unless they get decent wages.

Back to tonights game, Martinez will probably get PL club come in for him to give him an opportunity to show what he can do with a bigger club.

They say it's better to be lucky than good. Maybe, with AVB, we are actually unlucky. Last year he gets himself sacked so Chelsea can go on a run to win the champions league. This year he'll probably end up getting us more points than ever before but still no champions league.

Well, after that home defeat by the hands of Fulham we all knew this was coming...If we were talking about basketball, volleyball or handball, maybe we should accept our EL destination; however, we are talking about football: perhaps the last collective sports where giants can be put to sword by little fighters and favourites might fail to deliver their end product. I don´t expect Newcastle to beat Arsenal...and it is not even needed: a draw at the north England and a Spurs 1-0 win at north London and we wil be playing CL again. Though many voices are already saying Spurs failed again, there are some reasons for Newcastle to put a fight next sunday: last home matches they were humilliated by Sunderland (0-3) and Liverpool (0-6). Before, on revese fixture, they were demolished by Arsenal (7-3, remember??). I don´t think Newcastle players will enter the pitch just for fun...they will have 50.000 "clients" waiting for their money to be honored. Plus, Pardew´s stupid statement might be a spetacular backfire for the Gunners. I know he made that commentary as an act of relief but he asked the spotlights to be on him and on his side because the last CL spot is the only real competitition left next sunday. If we fail toreach CL even winning and bagging a total 72 pts after all turmoil in the summer, that would have been a good season. One to look back and be proud of.

AlexSpur, if we do manage 72 points, CL or not, we will have had a good season and one we can hopefully build on. We are getting closer and closer to them next door, next year we will be kings of north London

thfan, there are some players who could help, but not many. McCarthy, who is already rumoured to have been considered by Spurs. Remy, clearly would add cover on the right and at striker. Townsend (though I am not sold on him) may be a very cost-effective wing cover. I have also been thoroughly impressed with the pace and ability of Roger Espinoza who can play wing back on both sides and who has covered at LB admirably for the latter part of this year. He can also play MF in a 4-3-3. Good crosser of the ball with excellent foot speed. Cesar is another one I'd look to. Friedel is not up to it. Nice bloke, but he is far too slow and heaps way too much pressure on the defence. If he is our cup keeper we can forget about winning any cups. Beyond that, there are a lot of Championship quality players. COYS

thfc1882whl:totally agree.a lot of our new signings had to hit the ground running or had to take the softly-softly approach.which is just crazy....i feel AVB knew this and will be pushing to get deals done as early as possible.....lets hope levy is the right page this transfer window.

Peter, Kone, quite like his power?

Whether we are in Europa or in CL, it should not change how we proceed. If Bale, AVB, Sandro, Lloris and others indicate unequivocally that they are here to stay for next year and beyond to qualify for CL and to win titles, it's all on. There are 5 clubs with resources far beyond ours, and yet only four of those can make it. Liverpool are still trying to re-make their team. Gerrard is one year older. Reina is slower. Suarez will miss the first 7 games next year. There are no players flocking to sign with them. Arsenal will again be built to just get in to the CL. Nothing more. Chelsea, City and United will all have huge pressures thrown on the shoulders of new managers. Moyes has never managed a large squad. Chelsea and City will continue to throw money at problems. These are not teams. These are collections of mercenaries. There are lots of questions in defence in all of the teams ahead of us. We don't need huge signings. We need smart signings. Son, Remy, Belhanda, McCarthy, Howedes, Cesar, Espinoza to replace Hudd, Parker, Defoe, Gomes, BAE, Gallas, Livermore, Bentley. IMO, Dempsey and Sigurdsson have looked much more comfortable over the past two months and have contributed. Ade looks like the no pre-season and then suspension and then AFCON is finally behind him. Without these distractions next year, he may well prove to be well worth the 100k/week we'll be paying him. He does cause defences trouble and we always look much more comfortable up top when he is in there. There are lots of other names out there. We don't have to mortgage the future to get CL next season. We just need a settled team from day 1. We could have won the first three games. I think if Ade had worked out his City severance by August 1, we finish third not far behind City. COYS
peterballb
RAF, he reminds me of Saha, Heskey. Almost, but not quite. Benteke or Lukaku is where we should be throwing our money if it's for an out and out striker. COYS
peterballb
So important that we do get our signings done early so they can take part in pre-season friendlies to get a feel for our style and to familiarise themselves with their new team mates. We just need to tinker imo and i would much rather see 2 players who wil strenghten us significantly rather thena scatter of young players with promise. Lloris will be in from the start while others like dempsey, siggy and holtby will need no bedding in. Gallas, Bentley and gomez are all outof contract (i think) so that free's up significant wages. Also need to clearout the rest of the deadwood who are just straining our monies and bring in 1 or 2 upgrades to our first team.
spurfect one
peterballb: we did our so-called 'transitional period' this season whereas the top three are all about to face theirs next season....should be really interesting....time to tweak what we have, and believe it or not we have a lot more than some posters on here give us credit for.
g. roberts testes
I tend to agree about Benteke, but his price has grown over the last 3 weeks. Plus they are staying up. Ade is still too inconsistent and pricey. I thought he was outstanding last year and didn't get the credit he deserved. This year has been excuses. Finding a buyer will be difficult. I'm not a Dempsey fan, I know he's sharp but just doesn't fit in with the formation AVB wants. Not sure on Remy. Townsend and Rose are worth giving a go on the proviso that they are squad players. We need 3-4 players who will make a difference. AVB knows 6-8 are going but we can operate with some youths like Carroll and Fryers coming through.
RAF Yid
thfan, I also agree with your assessment of QPR. I think the players that Hughes brought in were good enough to avoid relegation. Allowing another manager to come in and further inflate the payroll while completely disregarding some players that were bought to make the difference makes no sense. What value does Hoilett have now? Hoillett, Taraabt, Diakite, Mbia, Park, Cesar, Granero, Bosingwa and Johnson shoudl certainly have been able to perform to higher levels than they did. Hughes never seemed to know which 11 to choose and then Harry comes in and decides that he needs Remy, Samba, Townsend and others to displace others who were just starting to get their feet under them. It's all a horrid mess and will cost Fernandez a mint, not to mention the fact they have been relegated. COYS
peterballb
tophobunty Siggy and Holtby are still young and imo it's too early to write them off, also Dempey is still a good squad option to have. I agree we need to upgrade in certain positions. Also even if we did want to sell all 3 there is no guarentee that there would be buyers willing to pay the price we want or wether the players themself would want to go. We know they are not the quickest but at least they will be more settled next season!

It's ok. Still have a chance, fat lady just clearing her throat at the moment.

It's down to the last game. We need to win ours. It has been a good season imo regardless. COYS. Levy, get your cheque book out and get to work...NOW!

One more win is all we ask for, if the goons beat us to 4th fair play to them!! This summer we need to hit the ground running hard in the transfer market, it might be the only way we will be able to keep Bale for at-least one more season. Levy and co must surely have learnt after the last 2 seasons that cutting corners in the transfer Market will not get us into the top 4. The first team squad now seems back at the stage we were in at the end of last season, 4-5 players short of a top notch team. We cant afford to sell any of our better players like last summer(VdV and Modric) and bring in lesser quality to replace Siggi,Dempsey and Holtby!! The squad is already over inflated with average players that have taken us as far as they are good enough to go. We Still need quality replacements for King, VdV, Modric and Parker. Plus what we have needed for 2years at-least a proper goal scoring forward, and a top notch LB. AvB has worked wonders with a squad which I think is actually poorer now then the squad he inherited from Redknapp. So lets make loads of noise on Sunday at the Lane, and drive them on to the 3 points and see where that takes us at full time!! COYS

Peter, regarding QPR - Harry has totally ruined them by his divide & rule approach. His constant moaning & groaning about how bad hsi players have simply made a bad QPR worse. Inspite of all the millions spent on agents & transfer fee & wages, it is Townsend, a on loan player their best player - speaks volume.

Now he says QPR players wont even make it to top10 of championsip...If thats the case, why is he even staying...
sydqcb5
WestStandEnclosure, agreed. I hate Arsenal but credit goes to them. We have been in better form than end of last season. But fact is Arsenal have won 7 games & 2 draws (against United, Everton) in the 9 games after they lost to us at lane. If they win at Newcastle, its 26 points from 30 points. Liverpool & Fulham loss came at the wrong time & literally killed our ambition. But we are still in with a good chance on final day - thanks to resilient effort from the manager & the team. We recorded our best away effort in PL and also would be surpassing our points in tally in PL if we win against Sunderland. That in itself is a great achievement.
sydqcb5
Sell Holtby?? German U21 captain.. he is being played out of position. With Sandro back in the team Holtby can play in the Modric role, which IMO... he will excel and surprise posters on here... we also have Dembele as well, so our MF will be strong again.. COYS
Block D Spurs
Sydqcb.. Harry is trying reverse motivation on the players, and at the same time trying to get the chairman to spend again...he will stay for another £3m or so in wages....
Block D Spurs
Block D Spurs either that or Harry is trying to force the hand of Fernandes to get shot of him, after all he wont get a pay off if he walks on his own will he?? LBH is harry had even occasionally put our club first before himself he might be manager here still??
WestStandEnclosure
Talking of possible replacements and buys up front, a raid to the Eredivise would be wise ... PSV to grab Strootman (Parker) and Jurgen Locadia (6ft3 striker) and Ajax for Fischer (Modric/VdV) and Boilesen (BAe).
kernowboy71
Topho - I think we haven't seen the best of Holtby yet. His best / preferred position is just in front of the back 4, either on his own or alongside another defensive midfielder. He is capable of winning the ball but, more importantly, he has the vision and ability to make incisive and creative forward passes QUICKLY and ACCURATELY to our front men. We have lacked that this season where mostly our midfielders have opted to carry the ball forward rather than pass it forward which is a lot quicker - as long as you can do it accurately of course! When he's had a chance to play in his preferred position I hope we will all be more impressed with him.
SpuriousLife
Block D Reference Harry & QPR; ''he will stay for another £3m or so in wages'' Is that before or after tax or just don't pay tax?
spu 4 life
AVB has had a season, time to go his rubbish, time to replace him with someone who does not have a clue about tactics, someone who talks for the sake of talking, mostly out of his arse or car window, AVB has let us all down, not once this season has he called us the fans idiots, that alone is a complete insult, degrading, he never mentions us the fans, why does he not admit we are punching above our weight, standing on the touchline most of the game and showing his emotions when we score, why does he not just sit sown and put his chin in his chest and for once, twitch his head from left to right or right to left, the guy is a joke:-)
spu 4 life
topho, i posted it on the wrong one. drrrrrrrrrrrr
spu 4 life
Kernowboy - great shout on Fischer. If we could get 3 players from the Eredivise I would love for us to sign be him, Eriksen and Alderweild. Mertens also has caught my eye, what are your opinions on him? He might be worth a shout

Nothing wrong with me blueblood92, I'm perfectly fine.

Eredivise raid, what about Bony 30+ goals this season.
