Neurism Nonsense

Hi all, this is probably going to be my longest and most in-depth Nonsense thread so far. So if you're scared of a bit of reading, maybe you should look away & run for the hills!! I guess there's nowhere better to start than Mr Borges da Silva, AKA Willian. Talk is really gathering pace on this one, some people even suggesting he's already in London, whilst others claim he was actually at our training ground yesterday. Personally I very much doubt that because 1, there's no way he'd have been there and not been spotted. And 2, he was shown our training ground last year, so wouldn't need to see it again. Anyway, what other gossip/ITK is there about him? Well he could move to a village that shares his name, and yep I'm serious..

http://hereisthecity.com/2013/08/19/mn-if-tottenham-sign-reported-30m-target-he-could-live-in-a-vill/

If that doesn't say 'done deal' I don't know what does, lol.

However, joking aside, according to Russian media, its close...

http://www.sports.ru/football/152219562.html?s=9cfc5bf375e21fa3

Deputy editor of the 'Radio Sport' and commentator 'NTV-Plus' Nobel Arustamyan said the midfielder, 'Anji' Willian close to the transition to the 'Tottenham'.
'Tottenham' reached an agreement in principle with 'Anji' by Willian. The probability of the transaction is very high.
Now - medical examination and personal contract player, '- wrote in his Twitter Arustamyan.
Earlier it was reported that in the struggle for Willian 'Tottenham' inferior 'Liverpool' - Liverpool have offered for the Brazilian EUR 30 million, and 50 percent from its resale.....

Is Russian media to be believed? Well, if they are not reliable in Putin's eyes, they disappear ;-).. We will see I guess! But the guy mentioned in those tweets has close ties with Anzhi, supposedly, and is the main guy at some local radio station and also worked with club, se the clubs radio station, Anji Radio.

http://www.fc-anji.ru/radio/?lng=en

Let's just pause for a quick comparison between 2 of our supposed targets..

Willian - http://cdn.whoscored.com/img/blog/2013%2f8%2fWillian1.jpg

Lamela - http://cdn.whoscored.com/img/blog/2013%2f8%2fLamela1.jpg

I know many of you (us) don't bother with stats, but not everybody is aware of a players ability, so only have stats to go by. Assuming you've checked out the links (it's only a couple of pictures, so no reason not to), you should perhaps already know that Lamela plays in a league with tougher defenses. However, in those links, Willian is better statistically in nearly every area, especially creatively. Key passes per game, Assists per game, cross accuracy, and even dribble success. Although the fact that they play in different leagues makes a fair comparison difficult.

Anyway, let's take another quick break, but stick to this topic, and enjoy some banter from ex pro footballers...

Didi Hamann ‏@DietmarHamann -  I just hope we beat Spurs to Willian #LFC

Peter Schmeichel ‏@Pschmeichel1 -  @DietmarHamann really you should hope just to beat Spurs...!!!

BRILLIANT banter by big Peter Schmeichel :-)

OK, break over, back to business... Gianluca Di Marzio ‏@dimarzio - Update on @willianborges88: @SpursOfficial offered in the night 35€ to #Anzhi and is close to sign brazilian (now in London).

Then, as of 12pm this afternoon, and because the British press are believable when they say something I/we actually want to hear,

The Sun - Tottenham ‏@SunTottenham - Tottenham set to sign £30m Brazilian star Willian http://bit.ly/17ZUAWL #thfc

Then 30 minutes after that, something popped up that sort of backs up earlier stuff about Lamela's representatives, plus our Willian 'deal'

Wayne Veysey ‏@wayneveysey - Lots going on at Spurs. Willian has chosen #THFC over LFC & is undergoing medical today. Roma chief Sabattini meeting Baldini about Lamela.

Even Greg Stobart is believing we're actually close to closing a £60m double swoop for Willian and Lamela - http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/08/20/4199973/tottenham-close-in-on-lamela-willian-double-swoop

Oh, here's a pic of Willian supposedly at Heathrow airport this morning - https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BSG-IQlIgAA9fKr.jpg - I can't really see Heathrow being his airport of choice if he was moving to Liverpoo?? ;-)

Ben Smith (of the BBC) is also getting in on the act - Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC - Spurs now look set to complete moves for Wilian and Erik Lamela. Anyone would think they were about to come into some money.....

note that last sentence, well Willian and lamela are close to signing, according to rumours etc, and coincidentally rumours are circulating Spurs accept £93m plus Coentrao, if true good business from spurs!!

As you all know by now, I know nothing about gambling, but Sky Bet have removed bets for Willian's next club. I'm guessing that would suggest it's almost a foregone conclusion as to his destination?

And just because talk of Willian isn't exciting enough, Italian media claim that the father & agent of Lamela are going to be speaking with Franco Baldini today (Tuesday) about a deal for the young Argentinian.

http://www.football-italia.net/38544/lamela-agents-tottenham-talks

Right, that's the Willian 'love in' done with, what about other links & rumours? Well let's just dive head-first into ITK..

Who: Ali Z
Where: ???
When: August 19th
Club are more confident that he (Bale) will stay for another season, not heard from the cad's of madrid for a while, things settling down............

Who: hertyid
When:20/08/13
Where: ???
there is a medical booked for this evening. same guys who did Soldado. i have no idea if it's for Willian..........

Who: Grey Fox
Where:???
When: 20/08/13
'Been told we have agreed price down to Willian and his agent now as where he ends up, but we probably favourites another defender is on the cards and my contact thinks that we might for go another striker if we can nail La la.

We are trying to get rid of Ade, but it will be end of next week if we can do anything i.e.e last minute dot com, and sadly Benny will be gone if he can pass the medical he didn't pass the first one.'.....................

Back to rumours then :-). The craziest one coming from an Italian Journalist called 'Luca Marchetti', who seems to believe we are the closest to signing Samuel Eto'o, with Inter Milan also being interested. I'll not bother with a link to that one, due to the fact that the £300k p/w AFTER TAX, that Ato'o is currently earning = Just a tad out of our wage ceiling, lol..

I'm happy to report that we are once again being linked to the exciting young Croatian striker called 'Ante Rebic'. This lad has quite a future ahead of him (in my opinion) and can operate anywhere along the front line. Here's the link - http://www.caughtoffside.com/2013/0...n-on-impressive-young-croatian-international/

According to press in Staffordshire, Stoke City are contemplating a bid for Defoe - http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.uk/story-19681006-detail/story.html#axzz2cUZ2oBKK

Whilst somebody on another forum said this, 'My dad had dinner in the same restaurant as Defoe last night and was sitting on the table next to him. Asked Defoe is he's staying and if he's excited for the new season. Defoe said it's a great squad but he needs to be playing and isn't sure what's going to happen. '

Let's be honest here, it's nothing new, Defoe says the same thing every time he knows he's gonna be on the bench. Fair play to him (if he is re-evaluating his options). He's by far from my favourite player, but he's served us well and is probably desperate to get on that plane to Brazil next summer (assuming England qualify), and he's not going to do that whilst sitting on our bench. Personally, Defoe out & Rebic in = good business.

Well, how about a name popping up out of nowhere, just as Capoue & Chadli did? Well here's one, Todor Nedelev!! Apparently a 20 year old Bulgarian, rated as 'the best player in Bulgaria' by certain sections of support.. Here's the link to him - http://www.sportal.bg/news.php?news=443409

Is this where Mr Baldini is earning his wage? Well here's a clip of the boy in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g5plev0sheY - He looks outstanding!!

Here's another link that states it's as good as 'done' - http://zonasport.bg/article/a-grupa/todor-nedelev-pred-senzatsionen-i-rekorden-transfer-v-totnam.html

Then this - @BAleksievSpurs: The coach of FC Botev cofirmed about interest from Spurs regarding 20 years old Todor Nedelev! via @Marin7805 #COYS #THFC

Or this - Marin Marinov ‏@Marin7805 -  He's the brightest prospect in Bulgarian football at the moment. A winger with a knack for the spectacular goal!

Stats? Ok then!!

13/14: 14 games, 10 goals, 3 assists, 98 min/goal
12/13: 29 games, 9 goals, 10 assists, 216 min/goal

And here's a tweet from one of the many Bulgarian THFC supporters (yeah I may be exaggerating there).. Bulgarian yid on twitter
Boyko Aleksiev ‏@BAleksievSpurs - Hope we get Todor Nedelev, 5 million is a ******* steal.. He is an amazing talent, can say he is the best player in Bulgaria and he is 20y!

It looks like he can play either left or right wing, last year he was mostly on the left but this year he's playing on the right and his stats are even more impressive. Hey, this could be a nothing rumour, who knows? If you want 'facts' perhaps the Nonsense thread isn't for you ;-)..

Speaking of Nonsense, I guess not mentioning the Welsh fella is pretty impossible, so here's the latest example of a flappy mouth at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid forward Raul is a keen admirer of the PFA player of the year, he feels that Spurs have made him "too expensive".
"He`s a brilliant player and would bring a lot to Madrid, but his price is too high," Raul is quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper AS. "Tottenham have overestimated his price."
He added: "The Real Madrid board is working hard to assemble the best team possible."..

No Mr Raul, Tottenham have not overestimated his price. Tottenham has a value for it's player, your club either pays it or shuts up and gets on with struggling to beat the mighty Real Betis!!

Speaking of the Welsh fella, this is a FANTASTIC article, which demonstrates how Levy is 100% correct to hold out for 'his price' and it explains why Bale is worth more to Spurs, than the £85m that Madrid seem to be willing to pay, how we CAN afford this spending spree without selling Bale etc etc etc. I implore you to read it - http://assoc-football.com/2013/08/1...-to-sell-bale-or-at-least-why-they-shouldnt/?

However, to repeat/back-up something I mentioned earlier..... Gareth Bale to Real Madrid, here we go. The transfer of the exterior Welsh to Spanish club has been accelerated in the last few hours, you are defining the details of an important deal in the economy of the European market. An operation for 93 million pounds, and will be also included in the negotiation Fabio Coentrao. It remains to be seen whether the Portuguese will lower the amount of cash that will go into the coffers Tottenham, or will be added to 93 million. Now Tottenham have a small budget important to invest in the market. And Real Madrid wins Bale. - http://www.gianlucad...nto-i-dettagli/

Now, IF that is true, open your minds and consider everything there. £93m plus a (former) €30m player is incredible. I love you, Gareth. I won't ever forget your incredible goals, but that amount of money is just too much to turn down. Oh, and we might get Coentrao, Willian and Lamela, too?.

Then there's these tweets - Gianluca Di Marzio @ dimarzio - Tottenham, accelerated Willian. And Lamela ...http:// fb.me/Ivl7BKZ1

Gianluca Di Marzio @ dimarzio - Bale-Real Madrid 93 million pounds, not Euros....

Forgetting about the Welsh fella again now, I'm afraid there's nothing new on young Halilovic, but I have come across a pretty interesting article about one of his brothers (who'd be coming to our academy IF we get Halilovic). http://www.croatiaweek.com/youngsters-hoping-to-follow-croatian-international-brothers-into-the-big-time/

OK, I'm all typed out now, so I'll finish in the same way as I started, by speaking about Mr Borges da Silva, AKA Willian..

Marcus Christenson ‏@m_christenson - Liverpool refused to go above their initial valuation of Willian & so lost out to #spurs, says @AHunterGuardian: http://gu.com/p/3t655/tw #lfc

BBC on to it (I believe them over ANY media outlet: Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in a deal worth about £30m. The 25-year-old has also attracted interest from Liverpool, but it is understood the Anfield club have missed out. Attacking midfielder Willian, who has two Brazil caps, is expected to make a decision on his future on Tuesday. If Spurs pull off the signing, it would be the third time this summer they have broken their transfer record. (Yeah and we'd still get people saying 'LEVY/ENIC OUT')

The Telegraph also picking up on it now - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10254237/Willian-poised-to-join-Tottenham-in-30m-deal.html

Just because we seem to suddenly be living in a real life game of Football Manager, here's something to look at & hopefully get those spirits raised IF the Welsh fella is to move..
http://i.imgur.com/smGydVo.jpg

So, I'm not even going to apologise for going on so much. It's the final couple of weeks of the window, it's when things start to really happen, so info is all over the place. You know the score by now, respect eachother, respect yourselves, respect the site rules and the work that oxfordspur puts into keeping it going. Now stop reading this Nonsense and get chatting your own Nonense :-) COYS

Morning all. Who are we going to buy today :-)) We're like kids in a candy store. I'm not used to this but it feels good. :-))
Madaboutspurs
Arrgh, 4everaspur ! :-) Shouldn't you still be in bed. @coopsie, INR under 3 yet ?
Madaboutspurs
coopsie! That article was long. Willian looking good then. COYS
Madaboutspurs
coops, when are you gonna do your links soi can just click on them?
Keith Lewer
Defoe: I want more strikers at the club if we're going to compete! You bought Soldado? Oh, well I'm off then if you're not gonna play me!
flipper
ps, im old tie yd nder my real name

This is the sort of transfer activity you'd associate with city or chelski, loving every minute of it. Willian and lamela would be excellent additions to our much improved squad, speaking to an arsenal fan yesterday and he was literally crapping himself to say the least. Looking forward to the season ahead coys
Crazyspursfan
Morning madabout. Iv'ebeen up for hours worrying about who we are going to buy..lol... looks like Coopsie has too. COYS
4everaspur
Gotta laught at all the Liverpoo fans having a whinge about Spurs "stealing" their target in Willian. Levy tried to buy him in January and AVB has been a fan for a long time. An all Brazilian trio of Paulinho/Sandro/Willian with Soldado,Lennon and Lamale would be right up there..COYS!
OzSpurs2013
I'm confused... we are spending 10's of millions on new players but selling Bale...... Are we a buying club or a selling club these days????? COYS
4everaspur
4everaspur...May i suggest le Ar$e fans should be the ones up all night worrying who we are going to buy. ;-)
Cider spurs
Looking forward to playing against le scum more than usual now. Don't you just love the new found optimism these days. COYS
4everaspur
Is Levy being clever again in Brazil world cup year...we would have 4 Brazilians at the club if Willian joins. If Brazil win the WC which is high chance being the hosts, Spurs will have a lot of followers as everyone goes Brazilian football crazy! Re Lamela, I can't see why Roma representatives would travel to London to work on the deal, surely the buying club needs to do all the travelling! Would love to see both happening but in my hearts, think only one will. Then again this is turning into a unusual transfer window for us!
Pride 1882
coops....Top notch article mate. If it was to be Willian we signed instead of Lamela(taking your point into consideration relating the leagues they play in) would you feel we had signed the better player or are you like me, lets sign both?. Some say it's one or the other, why?. There is more than enough room in a first 11 as they both can play numerous positions. Any squeaks on potential CBs?. Whats with all these hospital visits anyway mate? You just can't stop going down there winding up the gooners who work there can you. ;-) Hope you are feeling better.
Cider spurs
Morning all (or a more appropriate salutation depending on where you reside) gotta say that whether our superstar stays or goes, Levy/Baldini/AVB have played a blinder this window. Just hope that whoever gets brought in gets a better welcome by some than has been afforded to Chadli and Soldado. COYS
SpursEagle
And that's one hell of a morning read there Coops!
SpursEagle
morning all spurs fans / supporters. Coopsie one massive bit of nonsense ! well done, and glad to see you are better now. Have i missed Harry's comments on spurs spending, which never happened for him.. or is he keeping a low profile at QPR. lol.
Block D Spurs
If we sign Willian and keep Bale that would be the icing on the cake!! But Levy can't surely change his spots over night, I think the Bale sale will be used to balance the books on our Major Transfers this summer. The most important thing is we would have got our targets in early this window, and could spend the final day of the window just of-loading surplus players. COYS
WestStandEnclosure
I saw gooners wenger on BBC news this morning, looks under pressure when questioned about Arsenal transfer spending.... :-)
Block D Spurs
Good morning, and brill work coops. I see the express (so it must be true) are saying this morning we are still after Chirches and its down to the work permit stage! this is getting like the kid in the toy shop, i wanna it, i wanna it.
spurexile
i am not convinced Willian will be 30 million £ more of a threat in the prem this season game for game versus Andros Townsend, how can anyone be sure or even close to sure about that?
tophobunty
Can i throw the preverbial spanner in the works...... Home grown talent?? If all these incomings are correct and Bale out is correct, we lose another HG squad member. If Defoe decides to leave and Rose wants out because Coentrao comes in we are 3 more HG players down after already losing Caulker, Tom, Jake, and Parker. I am struggling to see how we will then get the 8 required unless we start to sign some british players? Anyone got some info that i am missing here or are we at risk in this area?
jhbspur
Reading that Arsenal and or Liverpool could be in for Lamela. Think we have supposedly offered about £4 million less than what Roma want. Would hate to think we could lose him to one of them two, especially when he would look sooo much better in white. If he is supposed to be the closest thing to Bale then we need to get it done,(if we can afford it) regardless of whether Bale leaves or not. If Ox chamberlain is out for 3 months there may just be some truth in the Arsenal link. Keep ade, sign Lamela, Willian, Chiriches, Coentrao and sell Defoe and bring in Rebic. Job done!!!. #COYS.
Cider spurs
A touch of the Oliver's Please sir(Levy) can we have some more. Wenger says too many players, no competition. Not enough qualiteeee. Willian / Lamela, lets focus on one medical at a time. Is our match against dynamo live? cant find it anywhere.
voltspur
Feeling dizzy after reading that..lol. Hope we dont sign all these players and forget about a defender, then watch as Kaboul, Dawson or Verts get injured. Also hoping we havent put all our eggs into Coentrao's basket. If we dont get him, we will have no left back. Rose is not good enough at this level. Also interesting that liverpool have taken Aly Cissokho on loan. That looks like a great deal.
vicspur
At the risk of being stalky...Topho - maybe the people making the decision have watched his career since the days when his hair was short and compared that to what they've seen of Townsend. It looks like we are all going to get a chance to find out.
darkenvai
jhbspur....Whilst i appreciate your concerns relating to homegrown talent, I feel Levy/Baldini and AVB are well aware of the rules that must be adhered to. For them not to have thought of this would be like British Gas forgetting to pay the gas bill. If we are aware of the rules then i can more than assume that they are aware also. Rest easy my friend, sit back and enjoy. ;-)
Cider spurs
vic - We don't need a defence, if the other team score 6 we will score 7 :-)
Hot_Spur
vicspur, the rumanian CB looks awesome, we should be going in for him again and letting townsend free on the prem, save an awful lot of money being risked
tophobunty
Topho...I for one get your point regarding Townsend and believe that the fact that he is a player able to use both feet with ease, and has pace to burn that he has to be given quality time to display what he can do, however, have you often not stated in arguements relating to Siggy that he is not good enough hence no top 4 clubs seeking his services?. This can also be said about Townsend, Willian however prior to us has been linked to both Chelsea and Citeh' along with Liverpool. They must see something in him, agreed tho' mate whether i see £30 million something in him i'm not sure, but i'd sooner have him in the ranks than not.
Cider spurs
Hope you are feeling better this morning coops! Nice work yet again from you, just love this info. Get today's (Wed) nonsence in asap... ;0) COYS
GlennAmy
Q. If the scum don't beat Fenerbache do they get into the Europa? If they get slaughtered tonight they will lose their advantage in the transfer market. I'm coming over all Turkish suddenly.
Love totty
how will we do that hot_spur? when at least 50% of the prem will bus park against us and we dont create chances against that type of team unless we score early
tophobunty
topho...Chiriches is THE CB i have wanted all window, with you on that one all day long mate.
Cider spurs
Cider....i here you and am sure they are aware..but have seen ppl get caught with pants down before..lets hope we dont:)
jhbspur
What am I going to do on the last night of the transfer window now that we have and are doing all this early business?,will be lost.Great problem tho.
sandroman
i have said that against people arguing how good Siggy is Cider, I dont see many arguing how good townsend is so the top4 comparison if not neccessary. Townsend is a much better option left side for us than Siggy will ever be in a 443 442 or 451
tophobunty
how can we have the chance to find out if Townsend does not get his chance at the expense of yet another expensive import
tophobunty
Love totty...Turkish Delight.
Cider spurs
Stayin on the Turkish theme Love totty...I Doner want Arsenal to win.
Cider spurs
probably wave to Ade Sandroman and we and some other poor club agree to sustain is charity fund for another few years in some joint agreement......if only he could deliver his potential more than 3 games in 30 (is that 10% peter?) what a player he would be.
tophobunty
Hot_Spur. I think we will play 1-9-1 formation lol.
vicspur
hot_spur, like the good old ossie days? (as manager)
Tottenham Hotcore
There's no doubt that Townsend has skill but he seem a bit too head down to me. I'm sure he has had plenty of chances in training as well as on loan for the staff to judge his readiness. They don't need to take risks just to please the fantasy football fans.
Love totty
jhbspur, clubs don't have to meet the homegrown requirements by filling all 8 slots, any they can't fill are just removed from the 25 squad. So if we only had 6 we can just list a 23 man squad...which isn't necessarily an issue if we have enough U21's who don't count anyway
flipper
Couple of cans and a kebab I think.
Love totty
Topho..Cannot disagree with you on the fact that Townsend would be more effective than Siggy on left, just hope he gets a chance. We should not sell him but if we are going all in this window as it appears then i would be more than happy for him to go on loan ONLY to a prem club to have a full season to REALLY see what he can achieve. Only so he gets the game time he desperately needs. Lets not forget his game is all about pace and this is usually at an optimum at a younger age as opposed to improving with age. This part of his game will slow in the next few years, lets utilise it now.
Cider spurs
Topho, just because we have yet to see Townsend given a run out (we are only one game into the season, I will remind you!) does not mean that, at some point this season, we won't. Redknapp said that Spurs didn't want to sell Townsend and he'd given up on re-signing him, so it would appear that he is in AVB's plans. I like both Siggy and Townsend, and expect them both, eventually, to come good for Spurs, but I'd gladly see either of them play second fiddle to a player who is worth their £30m price tag. Hiddink, Rogers and AVB have all considered Willian a worthy addition to their sides, so the boy has to have something.
darkenvai
Willian if rumours on his aka quotes are true he said ''i want to leave russia'' - ''I want to join and play for spurs'' - i want to link up and play for AVB'' - So he comes to London, photo's of him in a hotel in park lane, has a medical arranged at spurs ''location unknown'' fee agreed with Anzhi, not very positive is it?
spu 4 life

I'll warn you now, the info coming up is as long as the article lol. I'll post it, then gotta go docs, then I'll get whoring some more. Topho why is Towsend suddenly leaving? Surely if Bale goes we will keep Townsend? Also your comment re the bus parkers proves why we also need the likes of Willian and /or Lamela. Lennon is the player I'd look to move on.
Slurms McKenzie
Gareth please leave, i want to see coentrao at left back and erik lemala at spurs as well, with willian. Gareth i have enjoyed your time at spurs and and all those fantastic goals, seen you progress from a player when picked we could not win a game, to a player when not playing we have struggled to win and score, that's why we need stronger players across the pitch and a better squad and not be a one man team anymore, if your leaving for madrid and it upsets the madrid players, then your doing us a big favour and also BARCA.

Coops absolutely brilliant work - only saying you should rest up a little! Assuming Willian is done I am extremely excited about Sakho, the guy is a physical beast and pacey too, so deffo an AVB man. For anyone worried about our British contingent we currently have: Walker, Naughton, Dawson, Rose, Townsend, Lennon, Bale, Sigurddson, Defoe. That's 9 with one obvious possible departure. Also Carroll and Fryers are free picks but could be included in the squad if we needed to make the HG players up. That's why I can't see Defoe going either. Surely Ade to go?

I ( along with big c i'm assuming) am intrigued as to know why so many are now able to handle the idea of maybe Bale leaving, and what we are able to construct as a first 11 if indeed it is as a result of his sale.So many early in the window could not grasp the concept of Bales departure to strengthen the team as a whole. So many positive posts and excitement in the air of all our potential signings i feel many are starting to realise that if Bale was to leave what we can achieve as a team with strength in depth.

Is it because we have actually invested heavily and at the beginning of the window some had doubts that we would?. Is it because some are resigned to the fact we may lose Bale?. Have some just had enough of the whole Bale saga?. All i know is that my stance has not changed, we were massively fortunate to achieve 5th spot last season and if indeed these signings are on the back of Bales sale then great, what a truly well thought out and constructive window. No longer one man team Bale headlines, all and sundry are sitting up and looking at Spurs. Rightly so, let's not forget we all wanted the next step and we've just taken a stride.

Before i get all the you don't sell your best player posts, please remember your excitement at the talent we are signing and ask yourself, if this is a result of Bale sale can you HONESTLY say with the addition of most probably 2-3 more signings that we have not vastly improved our chances to not only challenge for the 4th spot but, realistically we cannot be ruled out for title challenge.

i imagine we will only push for lamela if bale goes. if he stays and we get willian then we will have a pretty scary line-up though. lamela may well be the closest thing to gareth bale, but we have gareth bale. the question is if he is forced to stay will he be the same player and 100% committed. there is no doubt that he is worth just as much off the pitch as on to us and I think that we have not crossed the spending line whereby his sale is necessary. we presume that he has pushed for the move and we have set a ludicrous price. hopefully madrid will not cough up enough and bale will take a moment to contemplate his new teammates and think, perhaps I can do well here after all :)
Guernman
Willian looks top quality, well happy. Ideally he would be playing left side in a 433 and I'm sure in AVBs perfect scenario was the ideal player he had in mind to play alongside Soldado and Bale in said formation. (Cream Ur pants material) i certainly seem him as an upgrade on Chadli although Siggys position is more likely at risk. Lamela reminds me more of Chadli, rangy, and smooth but not as dynamic as we have been in the past. Dont write Lennon off though, lamela, chadli, Willian, even Siggy are all similar and like to play off their wrong side and cut in, playing more narrow between centre back and fullback Lennon will be key this year without Bale to provide that pace and spread the play. Seems we've finally realised u can get bargains in certain positions but the money positions cost money. Happy days. COYS.

Coops, that os one seriously large article, another fantastic read! The Willian stuff seems to have real legs. (Like Coops, I tend to think that if the BBC pick up the story then it is pretty accurate, note unlike sky they have never claimed that there is an offer on the table from RM, rather that we are waiting to see if they put one in but it is expected that they will.) I think that some of the other stuff would surely depend upon Bale going? Just not sure how we could justify 60 mil on two players if we didn't have serious money coming into the club? Something I am seriously excited about this year though is the incredible strength in depth that we seem to be getting. We all know the issues last year when the beast was injured and Scotty tool over (just for the record, I love Parker, and the job he did for us in his first year, but he wasn't at his best last season) but now there appears to be genuine quality to cover the majority of positions. One last thing that I know has been touched upon already and I know a lot of people will say 'who cares' but despite all this quality being added to our great club, I am a tiny bit sad that we have lost the English spine that we have maintained for so long. I was always really proud of the fact that unlike so many teams, we had a strong core of English players. But I guess that wasn't going to be an option if we are to move to the next level and seriously compete.
Another Oxford spur
re the home grown players, I wondered that last night, I made it 23 in squad at mo of whom 9 are HG. So if we sell benny and ade that's four places available. So then we can sell one of the HG players either bale or defoe or townsend etc and come down to 8 before worrying. But as someone (sorry) said I'm sure they have it covered. for record I left obika, dawkins and falque out of squad

Take a look at the performance of our u21s and younger teams and you can see that the homegrown player issue is not one that is going unattended at Spurs. Providing AVB makes a concerted effort to feed the youngsters into first team action in a sensible manner, we can be sure of maintaining our English/homegrown pedigree.

Bale's morose silence makes sense now. He knows that RM can't afford him but he's been told by AVB that he's unlikely to make it into Spurs first team, except for Europa League and League Cup games :-D
darkenvai
Wow....this is exciting. Can't really believe it all to be honest as we have already made some great buys. If Bale does go and we get some or all of the players mentioned then Levy/Baldini and AVB have played the whole transfer window really well. If we had sold Bale early then everyone knows we have the money and charges us more. If we do sell him at the end after all these purchases it shows Spurs to be well in control and doing business on their terms when we have our replacements sorted. Still would love to see Gareth stay but if he goes then I'm not so worried anymore.

Bale's situation is very simple. The club made a statement that he is not for sale. I posted upon what I heard similar. RM simply have to put the money on the table, and as of today confirmation was being sought from a financial authority regardless of what others are saying. I pm'd a few on Friday with developments and it was expected to of been public knowledge of sale by now.

That has not happened and RM would love the world to believe it is the club being difficult when actually it is not. From the staff's position they rather him go and move on. The spend was not and is not dependent on Bale either staying or going. If he stays they still want to pursue Lamela. For those who want to question the validity of this all I can say is you can take it with a ton of salt or appreciate that this has not just been shared in good faith but from as far as I am concerned highly reliable sources...............

Anyways. Pinch of salt in one hand please and the knowledge in the other that I should have probably goated. This is because its fairly obvious whose opinion this is.

1. Andros Townsend and Jermain Defoe are available but neither want to play for QPR this season. Townsend compares himself to Sterling and believes that he can be on the plane to Rio. fair play to him for that, but he wants out.

2. The circles with which my source (;)) speaks in believe that Gareth Bale has not been sold as of today, yesterday or last week. Its also suggested that they expect Bale to NOT BE SOLD!!! Madrid have neither met our asking price nor provided any guarantees that they can make the payments anyway

3. My source also feels that we are spending the way we are because of an interest free loan from Big Joe. We pay him back once the stadium is completed and were top dogs in Europe. (ok I made the top dogs thing up) Our books will look A-OK because FFP doesnt prevent this kind of investment just yet.................

I should point out that when Ryan mentions the circles in which his source speaks (followed by a wink) = his source is Harry Redknapp, via Ryan's boss who is Harry's best mate.

Cider,SouthCoast, I really wanted/still want Bale to stay but am not so concerned as we have spent in good areas that mean his loss will not be so missed. JHB (AND ANYONE ELSE CONSTANTLY WORRIED ABOUT THIS HOME GROWN NONSENSE) - Re home grown player concerns... There is NO minimum. 17 max non home grown players. That's the only rule, which then leaves room for 8 home-growns, you don't need to max it. "To ensure that Premier League Clubs continue to produce top home-grown talent, the 20 Clubs introduced a Home Grown Player rule from the start of the 2010/11 campaign. Clubs cannot name more than 17 non home grown players aged over 21. For example some clubs will have a squad list of 23 because they may have 17 over 21 non home grown players. "

Cider - Personally, and based solely upon what I've read, I'd rather Lamela than Willian. Apparently this kid is special, is as close to a Bale clone as you can get, is only 20 years old (and apparently better than Bale was at that age) and has an immeasurable ceiling of potential. I see what AVB has done to Bale within 1 year & think WOW, what could he do with Lamela in the 4 years it'd take for him to reach the age Bale is now.. That said, AVB likes Willian lots, I've read nothing at all negative about Willian, and he is supposedly the creative spark we are lacking. I've got nothing but trust in AVB, so I'll back him either way.

That said, of course I'd prefer both of Lamela & Willian, and I don;t even care if the Welsh fella has to go for it to happen. The group is much more important than any individual. COYS

Hope the deal for Willian gets confirmed today, another brilliant coup. What a feckin window! Must admit im not really sure about the figures involved for these players though. £30m for Willian seems very inflated. I honestly don’t think it will be anywhere near that. Maybe £18m plus add ons. As mush as I want the Lamela rumours to be true its another one where I just can’t see £30m+ as good value. But hey….it aint my money so spend spend spend is all I can say. If we come 3rd in the league and win the FA cup then they will be worth every penny. I see the rumours that Arsenal are about to “hijack” the Lamela deal. I honestly wondered how long that would take lol. Really don’t see them going for him though, I can’t see them spending the £35m to secure him that’s for sure. Does anyone know if BA has actually joined Roma yet?? Or are they just still Rumours?

spu 4 life. cheers for the post of Lamela's little sister. Coopsiey: quality info. Willian signals the bench for Lennon! Don't see the point in selling Ade or Defoe, strikers are hard to come by and it seems the idea is for us to have a midfield that scores as well as our strikers. Buying one striker to sell two would make no sense - guaranteed scorers cost a fortune and these boys can still score with the best of them if they get the ball. CB that can play full back a priority.

Here are some interesting quotes from former Manchester United coach René Meulensteen, who was Willian's manager for that short stint at Anzhi. He was talking to Sky Sports News: I've worked with him for a short time but I really, really like him. He will be an asset for whoever's going to get him. If it's Spurs that's going to get him they'll get an excellent player. He's very versatile, he can play in different positions, he's a very creative player and an excellent professional with a very good personality. He's going to be a major trump card for Spurs if they can get the deal to go through. He can beat a player, he can score a goal. I thought he was an absolute delight to work with.
chrishove123
Topho - as you know, I'm a fan of Townsend's, but let's not overstate what he achieved at QPR. What he showed was lots of promise, but that he is still very raw and there are plenty of areas of his game that need improving. Definitely worth pitch time - I fully expect him to start in cup games and come on later, possibly against Swansea - but he is far from being anything like a starter with the competition that he already faces, let alone if we get Willian and/or Lamela. I'd say that, from the lack of any media coverage of him wanting out, he's happy with the situation as it's been explained to him.
darkenvai
I love whoever fixed it :-)

hudderspur - re figures for players. Man Utd paid £15m + future bonuses for Zaha. They paid £16m + future bonuses for Ashley young. Henderson cost Liverpoo around £20m etc etc. The figures for the true quality players we are after are fair, in my opinion. If you're still thinking we're overpaying, I'll point you in the direction of Fernandinho, who cost Man City over £30m, whilst we paid £17m for the guy who keeps him out of the Brazil team. Sort of evens things out a bit ;-)

Dark it's his rawness we need, it's the difference between him and everyone else we have at the mo, "improve" areas of his game, you know as well as i do that is highly likely to include taking away his raw edge by making him more disciplined and keeping the ball more, most likely sideways and backwards....we dont need more of that, i saw throw him in and say go on lad be yourself.....we have bought 38 players this week who are the same...or very similar....if you get my drift....we are in danger of being as easy to read a peppa pig..... ........82 i agree, play the lad or let him go to allow his career to flourish

top - I admire & respect your constant claims for Townsend to be played etc. As was stated above, he hasn't been sold, so he clearly sits in the plans of somebody at the club. But this desire for you to see him play/succeed is not relevant to the point of ANY football club, let alone little old THFC who are making strides to catch the clubs at the very top of the league, not just aiming for 4th. No matter who the player is in our squad, no matter what you/we think of that player, if there is a chance for our little club to sign a better player, we MUST take it. I love Lennon, always have, but if some of these new signings are to be Lennon replacements because they're better players, GOOD!! I want my club to evolve & compete with the best of them, not stagnate because of an overblown sense on sentimentality towards our players. There is no room for sentiment, it's a case of moving forwards, so if that means one or two 'supporters favourites' have to go, then go they must..

Will losing Bale weaken us, as a team/squad? Who knows? All I know for sure, I look at that team in the link towards the end of my article & I think to myself, "Gareth who??"... As Cider and BigC have been saying for months (to many deaf ears) the sale of Bale 'could' mean a stronger team & squad, I implore you all to look at the link & tell me that this team doesn't look better than what we finished with last season...

Topho, I agree that Townsend needs pitch time and I am afraid I see him initially only being used in cup comps. It will be an opp for him to show his worth to Spurs/AVB. It's up to him if he takes it. However, with the signings we have made and are earmarked for, IMO, it is unlikely he will get many chances. Shame, and it will be sad to see another player looking for pastures new. I also think what AVB is trying to build will mean no one is safe (guaranteed) at Spurs.

Townsend doesn't need to leave permanently though. There are many clubs who would take him on loan. I bet someone like Mark Hughes would love to have him as he looks to change Stoke's style of play. He could make a huge difference to them over a full season and come back to us a better player.

Coops – I think its difficult to try and determine a players value by judging how much other players seem to be going for. By that summation if Carroll went to Liverpool for £35m Soldado should have been £70-£90m. Money is still money regardless of how other clubs wish to spend theirs. From what I hear willian is a very decent player so if Baldini / Levy feel he is worth the asking fee who am I to say otherwise. Just seems a tad high IMO considering we only broke our £16m rector a month ago

There are a few Articles over on Newsnow that say Arsenal are in for Lamela but I think its just Lazy Journalism. No quotes, no comments or sources, just a headline with no substance. Only mentioned it because im starting to feel a bit sorry for the Gooners……ha am I phuck! Topho - straight from the Redknapp book of management. I had no idea you were a fan ;-) There's a simple charm to it, and it's been shown to be effective to an extent in the past, but I'd like to think that we've graduated from that school to a more methodical, considered approach under AVB.
What we need is polished, accomplished individuals who know each other's game and work as a team. We aren't there as a team yet, and while Townsend looks like he's got what it takes to be one of those individuals, he certainly isn't there yet.

Topho, your idealistic views on Townsend weren't afforded to Caulker, were they? He was a little rough around the edges too, and needed a bit of game time, don't you think? I really hope Willian doesn't get the 'welcome' you've laid out for Soldado and Chadli, all because you have a bee in your bonnet because YOUR favourites (Townsend/Benteke) weren't picked or bought. You've already passed judgement after one, ONE, game. And let me guess, are we all going to be treated to your ignoring the positive from these new signings in favour of looking for the negative? Oh, and the top four comparison regarding the Siggy/Townsend discussion is totally applicable to Townsend!

Having said that, I like the lad, and hope he gets some opportunities. I think, like Siggy, he's a very good option to have in the squad.

coops - thanks. For his sake, I'm looking forward to Ekotto leaving now. He's been a great servant to Spurs since 2006 and he should always get a warm welcome at the Lane. It's not great watching one of the old guard being ostracised in this way even though I know AVB has to make his tough choices.
muttley
Caulker no where near the natural talent of Townsend. My views are not idealistic. your view of my opinion is totally wrong. I would have taken Benteke any day over Soldado and do not feel Chadli is much better if at all than some we have wanted to move on and or some that have moved on, its my opinion. I have not passed judgement after one game, my judgement is based on their previous careers, more often than not, but not limited to, their recent career. Thank you for caring so much about my opinion to take the time to write such a piece, why not simply take the time to express your own? I dont ignore the positives, Chadli improved when the game totally opened up, as did Defoe look very threatening at that time, more so than Soldado before ( i dont really like Defoe).. and Soldado has proven he can take a very calm penalty they are both positive. Focus on your own thoughts and opinions, good for the bank account too!!
tophobunty
Opinion of players after one game? That's crazy, Topho, and the whole reason why I responded to you. I don't give a damn if you have the same opinion as me or no. It is MY opinion, that whenever something happens that goes against what you think, the blinkers go on, the guard goes up. You can tell me I'm wrong about that, and you are entitled to do that, but I guess I'm just going by the consistency of your posts on that score.

I don't always disagree with you either, y'know! I guess it's the premature judgement that has me 'caring' so much about your post and at the same time, giving me a bee in my bonnet.

I'll wait and see on our new signings, for at least a full season.
SpursEagle
Shedboy 2....you say A' Townsend doesn't make the right decisions, allowing goalscoring opportunities to be missed. THat's a incredibley unfair statement.....one that you know, cannot be proved either way, in his favour or not. You cannot argue that he doesn't deserve a decent chance at THFC. I too like the look of Lamela and Willian....and would love to keep Bale........and believe it could be done. BUT..dealing with the here and now.....i'd have liked to have seen Mr. Townsend being given decent playing time versus Dinamo' / Swansea......and go from there.

Any news about the 10:30 press conference?
In-spurs-ational
WOW.. See what I've just come across. Adds a little perspective to this excitement we're experiencing.

The figures can be easily explained.

1: Savings from under-funding of previous 5 seasons of £65m.

(figures from http://www.transferl...-transfers.html )

2012. Spend 61.5m, brought in 62.8m, total spend MINUS 1.3m

2011. Spent 8m, brought in 35m, total spend MINUS 27m

2010. Spent 18.5m, brought in 1m, total spend 17.5m

2009. Spent 32m, brought in 33m, total spend MINUS 1m

2008. Spent 87.2m, brought in 67.75, total spend 19.45m In the previous 10 years or so we spent on average at least 10m-15m each window. With the steady increase in TV money, we should have had at least £15m each year, even taking the training ground and stadium in account. Based on that, we should have had £75m to spend over the last 5 years but spent a total of £7.45m. Thats leaves us with over £65m available + another £15m of this summer = £80m

2: Normal summer spending available of £15m

2: Increased shirt sponsorship of £7m on previous season.

3: Increased TV revenue of approximately £30m

4: Transfer sales of approx £23m

Total available = £140m.

21.08.2013, 00:08 - Read related articles

Tomorrow is the presentation of the new license plate Rudi Garcia Rome. But there Lamela of Tottenham as we told you. The selection of the Spurs is around € 30 million plus bonuses. It 'a figure that does not meet Sabatini and senior Americans. And it is for this reason that Lamela at the time does not move from the capital. But the problem remains Tottenham will likely raise the offer for the Argentine. With the money from the sale of fresh Bale everything can happen. In the coming days there will be a revival by the English club. With 40 million including bonuses, Tottenham could really close the game and get Rome to give the '92 class.

Topho, not a fan, just a convert then. Again, I think you are overestimating Townsend's ability to affect a game positively. He is fast, a wee bit tricky and he has got a wicked shot, but these aren't things lacking in the rest of the team. This X-factor that you are attributing to Townsend simply doesn't exist to the degree that you'd like it to, which is not to say that it can't be nurtured, and that one day he really will be as good as you think he already is. You're just a little bit premature with your favourite here. Another Redknapp trait you seem to be displaying ;-)

just came across this. Was posted at 10.30 last night but nice reading & actually fits in with a fair bit of what many of us have been thinking....

"Two medicals booked for 24 hours. Bale deadline Friday. RM don't have cash down payment required unless they raise £40m. Slightly depends on Spanish banks but low chance. Modric to United? May all be too late. RM dicked around way too long trying to talk down the price rather than raise the money. THFC working to a plan all summer. Still nobody outside 2-3 people know plan for sure. Tight media management in total contrast to previous era. No comment, bluff, even false-ITK have been used to keep everybody in the dark. Anybody who thinks JL and DL haven't thought of end game risks is underestimating them."..............
coopsieyid
dark'....he is two footed....100% left foot / 70% right foot. If you were watching the china game. He played appx' 20 mins'. Drew the foul that got the freekick...that he scored. He also delivered from the right, a left foot cross, that Defoe nearly got on the end of. He also...provided a rightfoot cross / pullback...from the right, into the penalty area. He can also provide excellent inswinging (or outswinging)....corners, with either foot.
82spursdebut
Another post about finances, though he has missed out the £6m for Dempsey, so add that to what you're about to read......

Income

TV Money - £87m

Parker - £3m
Caulker - £8m
Huddlestone £5m

Outgoing

Paulinho - £17m
Chadli - £7m
Soldado - £28.5m
Capoue - £9m

Total Net = +£41.5m

If we were to keep Bale and get Willan, we would still be up with how much we have spent at +£11.7m

If we were to get Lamela and kept Bale, we would then have overspent and the balance -£18.2m

But, if what we believe is to be true, we would be offloading the below players:-
Ekotto - £6m
Townsend - £9m

Meaning that our net spend would be -£3.2m

Also, we still have an asset in Bale that we could sell next summer for just as high as fee.
coopsieyid
There's also around £3m from Dos Santos to add to that last posts figures too, plus probably around another £5m IF we sell Ade or Defoe (or a bit more knowing Levy).

Real will find the money if they genuinely want Bale and or if not if Levy wants to sell he will get as much as he wants upfront and then nail them contractually to pay the rest. My ideal world, we get say 40-50 up front plus a player. They still owe us modders plus the Bale balance, they default and Levy issues a winding up petition on Real Madrid and its gets splashed all over the media and a court enforces it and they get relegated....dream world.....
tophobunty
It appears there may indeed be some benefit to our "relationship" deal with Real Madrid, and lots of long timeline planning ahead by Levy. It's certainly gained us huge international media exposure and could still yield a player or two. So far our other relationships have yielded Sandro from Internacional, Bongani from Supersport (not really a win), and we still have to see what comes out of South China in Hong Kong.

82Spurs - if you've read my posts on this thread and elsewhere, you'll know that I'm more than sold on Townsend as a Spurs player, both of the present and the future. I watched all of the games that he played for Spurs and QPR last season and this that have been televised, and the conclusions that I've drawn are that, while he has improved immeasurably, he is a long way from being ready to be a starter in positions for which we have so many options. Flashes of brilliance going forward are not enough to merit a starting berth, he needs more consistency and a more rounded game. These will come in time, if he's given the chances that I suspect he will be this season.

This is just somebodies opinion BUT if, like me, you've not seen much (anything of Capoue) this post will make you smile....

More info about home grown players......

There is actually no minimum, it's more to do with limiting non-homegrown quota to 17. Besides even if there was minimum of 8 players, we could also throw random kid there.

However point of non-homegrown players is relevant: Friedel, Lloris, (Gomes), Vertonghen, Kaboul, (BAE), Capoue, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Chadli, Holtby, Willian(?), Falque, Soldado, (Ade)

It's getting quite packed, though we're obviously losing a few

HG are Walker, Naughton, Rose, Dawson, Lennon, Siggy, Carroll(probably leaves on loan), Bale, Townsend (for sale?), Defoe, Fryers

Fryers and Carroll can be on youth quota though.

Sorry still not sold on Lamela, and asked on here plenty of times if anyone has any great clips, or can anyone point me to any great clips of him? unfortunately the most entertaining video I've seen of him is the one spu 4 you posted, when he looks like an eleven year old girl? IMO it only seems like everyone has jumped on the Lamela bandwagon since we got linked with him, but no one mentioned him prior to this for a good reason. All sounds like his agent is hankering for a pay rise from his club to me. I'd be honest and say I'd rather buy 70 McDonald franchises in China for that money, I'd get a better return. 35 million for Rooney any day of the week... If we buy some miracle sign him, I'll get behind like any spurs player, but I reckon theirs more chance of Boris Johnson playing for us on his Barclays bike.

Anyone else think AVB might sign a new contract once all this spending is done? I think Levy will want to ensure that he doesn't go to one of the elite clubs next summer after showing so much faith in his vision for the club..

Personally, I think AVB doesn't have to sign a new contract, mainly because he's already proven his loyalty via turning down both of Real Madrid and PSG this summer, so that he can carry on what he's started at THFC. The contract should be because he deserves one, not because of some form of blackmail after what has been done to back him.

So far Fiorentina have tabled the best offer, both transfer fee and personal terms. They do expect some English clubs to get involved by the end of the week, however.

Middlesbrough came and left, but they were unable to better Fiorentina's offer. "Signals" are that Tottenham, Swansea, and Liverpool are all expected to join the race for Rebic and place bids in the coming days..

Ah, wikipedia seems to almost rule that last lad out.

"Dier signed professional terms with Sporting in April 2010. The Portuguese club beat Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur,[6] and the team Dier supported as a child, Manchester United,[2] to his signature. Sporting also sold 50% economic rights of the player to a third parties owner, "Quality Football Ireland Limited".[7] Sporting bought back Dier in February 2012 by selling 50% rights of Filipe Chaby. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Dier"...

3rd party ownership = too much like hard work!!

Seems like a smart guy based on the fact he decided to join a good developmental league as an English guy. Seems quite rare. Sporting do have a great academy, and he'll have benefitted from that, and the first team football in the top tier of Portuguese football. Same club as Tiago Ilori too, same position. Hmm...

A wonderfully informative post about Bale/RM here. Makes for very good reading indeed!!

IMO one of the clearest indicators about RM's intentions w/r/t Bale will be CRonaldo's contract.

If he signs before the window closes then they will move for Bale in earnest. But so far - despite this being a higher priority for them than Bale - he hasn't.
br> He is entering the last couple of years of his contract and they are desperate to keep him.

This will cost them a LOT of money - signing Bale for the big bucks will not help them negotiate with him at all.

Even us Spurs fans know GB11 is no CR7 - he will expect to be paid proportinally - he may even want to reclaim his 'most expensive player in the world' tag if this is bested by Bale / Barnett.

On top of this - he's been in Spain six years - so the Beckham clause will no longer apply - the mooted salary (17m a year) is conservative - yet even if it is this - he will want this *after* tax - which will be paid by RM @ > 51% - so the Ronaldo deal will cost in excess of 35m a year, plus agents fees, plus a renogotiation of image rights.

"This is explained not only by the increase in the payroll, because after six years of tax residence in Spain, the player can no longer benefit from the so-called Beckham Law , which allowed him to pay tax on personal income tax to 24.75% , a type more like a mileurista that of a millionaire. However, he will not be the big loser.

The great players negotiate their net salary to the equipment and, therefore, is the club who bears the tax burden. The salaries over 300,000 euros in income tax taxed at around 52%, depending on the autonomous region. Real Madrid will support, therefore, the weight of this renovation, and you will pay a total of EUR 35.3 million: 17 million and 18.3 net the player to Treasury compared to 3.3 entering the tax office today. That is, if Madrid want to remain white Ronaldo must pay the rate of 51.9% in income tax this community."

http://cincodias.com/cincodias/2013/08/07/economia/1375894884_109957.html

It's because of this that they can't borrow the money to pay us a lump sum - he is listed as an asset by both Madrid and the bank they borrowed the money from for his transfer. They absolutely have to get him to sign a new deal and protect that asset before they can borrow again.

( In short: unless we accept instalments, or someone lends RM a whole heap of money Bale stays - also: facts and numbers can be more informative than gossip and hearsay - look at the numbers! )
coopsieyid
Is he known as Armitage Shanks?
spu 4 life
So that means total cash outlay a year is a whopping EUR35m for Ronaldo..... assuming he signs a 5 year deal, thats gonna be like 200M EUR of liability. Crazy.... that is about 8% of Real revenue.

coopsieyid
And the reason we should consider ourselves lucky to have our current owner/chairman....

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ain-la-liga-in-financial-turmoil-8721595.html

"The league’s big two players have also seen their privileges reduced in the new economic climate. As reported by The Independent in April, the European Commission is investigating how Real Madrid received a piece of land worth €421,000 in 1998 from the city council as part of a land swap deal, and then used that same piece of land in 2011 in another land swap, with it revalued at €22.7m – a 5,400 per cent price increase that potentially constitutes illegal state aid.

The Beckham Law that once helped attract foreign stars as it put them in a lower tax bracket has gone, and banks no longer lend clubs money – Madrid were lent €150m in 2008 when they spent €250m on new players. These are changes that have made the purchase of Gareth Bale beyond the club’s reach this summer.".....

Ignore the back pages - they're nonsense (and not good Nonsense like I post lol). The financial pages however are pretty illuminating.
The other alternative is if Real Madrid raise the money through sales - but they wouldn't do that unless they have an agreement in place with us that we'll actually sell. So they could sell a couple of midfield players (none of whom really want to go) but then they'd have to trust us that after that we will actually sell?
Does anyone think Levy might have a reputation for moving the goal-posts late in a deal? ;)

Things change - of course they do. But our financial position is actually stronger than theirs right now.

"The signing will happen on the day that Mr. Levy wishes it to", those close to the player have told MARCA.

Coopsie, I have always doubted that RM could get the cash, or afford to buy Bale so long as Ronaldo is there. That said, I do believe Bale wants the move and, if RM match whatever ridiculous number that Levy communicated and on our terms, he will be gone. Not there yet. May well happen September 2. I don't like all this and have to believe this is incredibly tough on Bale, his family, friends etc. Nothing is being said because he wants to go. AVB has managed this all so well. He has said, no Bale until September. The players all know this and the preparations leading up to the opener and since, have all been without Bale. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. It is best (I would argue for all parties) if Bale remained and was part of something special. If not, it seems there are a bunch of pieces that may all fall in to place if he goes. I do hope we still focus on the future though and go in for Chiriches and Halilovic. I am very disappointed we lost out on Jedvaj. Kid looks class. Chiriches does too and if we wound up with the Halilovic kids, wow, we'd have some serious talent in stock to add to Carroll, McEvoy, Pritchard, Hall, Smith and others. Loving what ENIC are building nd all without over-indulging. COYS

Could we throw or hat in the ring??

To avoid a major headache, Uefa will surely hope that Arsenal can overcome their Turkish opponents and advance from the qualifying round. If Fenerbahce are victorious over the two legs and are then found guilty, the ramifications for the tournament will be serious. Fenerbahce would then be expelled from European competition and a Uefa emergency panel would decide who takes their place. Arsenal could theoretically go out of the competition only to be reinstated the following day, although other clubs would argue they also have the right to play in the elite tournament.

Yes, Topho, that is what I am saying, because playing on the left is not merely about running fast, being a bit tricky and taking shots, it also involves aspects of discipline and defence that were sorely lacking in Townsend's play. It's not all flash bang on the left (or anywhere) and until the lad learns that, he will always get looked over, or preferred for more rounded players, who can't run as fast or are as trigger happy. As for the whole X-factor thing, if you are going to be a piffly pedant about it, I never said you mentioned it, I said you were attributing it to him. No requirement for you to have used that exact formulation for it to be true. I trust you are familiar with the concept of recapitulation. Townsend is all of the things that you've said he is, but few of them with any great consistency - as witnessed at QPR - and he lacks a lot of other important qualities. He is, however, still young, and should learn. I certainly hope so.

the proof will be in the pudding re: Townsend. Sigurdsson is not fast. Dempsey was not fast. Holtby is not fast. Townsend has the most talent of all of them. I will not argue there. No point. Fact is that Dempsey managed .56 goals/assists per 90 minutes played. Sigurdsson .52. Holtby .35. Townsend managed .28 and was the only one who was a regular starter for a consistent period of time. To be fair, QPR were not exactly lighting it up. I watched most of his games (probably 10 of the 12). He looked lively in mot, defensively poor in most and his delivery was very poor. The other day, in the U21 squad, it seemed he had been working on his delivery. He, Kane, Carroll and Sandro were all a clear step above according to all reports I read. That bodes well for him. The question is, can he deliver and push us forward, and is he good enough now to displace one of the wingers we have. He is not better than Lennon. Not now, not at that age, IMO, largely because of his lack of defensive abilities (which become less important in a 4-3-3 or if we have a more competent RB). Is he better than Chadli? That's a tough one. Cut in to the middle way too much for me (as does Townsend) which impeded the space Sigurdsson had to work in. He is very adept with the ball though and really should have scored on the header. I think he will be a very good player for Spurs. If Willian is also in (who is a proven European and CL player), and if Bale is still here, how does Andros get time on the pitch? He needs to be playing, but he can't be the 20th guy on a squad. I think, if the Willian deal goes through, and IF Andros is not willing to just be a cup player, he needs to be loaned out. I agree, he needs to have the chance to prove himself (as do Holtby and Sigurdsson). He can't do that, if he's not playing. Cup team with Holtby, Carroll, Townsend, Lennon, Siggy in MF behind Defoe? Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Lamela's agents have travelled to Madrid today to meet again with Baldini (who is presumably there to work on the Coentrao and Bale deals). If the Lamela deal IS linked to the Bale sale, then I suppose this would make sense.

Christ I'm all over the place today..

From the beeb transfer live text page...
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Gareth Bale's move from Tottenham to Real Madrid has never been closer. Fabio Coentrao, who is reported to be included in the deal, is said to have met with Spurs officials this morning.............

Now from the Guardian's live text page...
There may be some movement on the Gareth Bale deal after all. Gazzetta dello Sport's Carlo Laudisa, who I have been following for a long time and who rarely gets things wrong, says that the only thing remaining now before the deal is announced is for Spurs to agree personal terms with Fabio Coentrao. All in all the deal will be worth €108.5m.
Several of you will ask how an Italian has that information but like I said yesterday, Sky Italia broke the Guardiola to Bayern story and I do trust Laudisa.
coopsieyid
It's those Italians again! Gazzetta have updated their story from yesterday and are now saying that Spurs have failed to reach an agreement with Coentrao so the Bale deal will be cash only, they reckon 109 million euros.

First a Capoue and next a Toby? :)

Richard Trevisani @ RickyTrevisani - In Madrid: Lamela-Rome-Tottenham us the details. Missing signatures but there is total agreement. 6 years contract to the player. From 2.4 to rise..

Di Marzio seems to be pretty well respected for his info.

Putting 2 and 2 together...

There was a suggestion that the sticking point in the Bale transfer was Coentrao. There was also a suggestion that we had told Roma we would meet the asking price for Lamela if and when the Bale deal goes through. Therefore, if Baldini could reach an agreement with Coentrao in Madrid today, that would give the green light for the Bale deal to go through, which in turn would trigger our deal with Roma for Lamela.

Therefore, Lamela's agent being in Madrid would allow for the Bale, Coentrao and Lamela deals all to happen simultaneously.

It's a theory.

Shedboy2. Actually thought Lamela was another RW - which Willian is, so to me sounds like he'll be approached if Willian falls through, and to shows Willian and Anzi we are also looking at an alternative and not fully dependent on him? To be honest I only saw two Roma games last season Napoli and Lazio and don't remember him from neither game, so maybe he didn't play? Saying that I saw he scored 15 goals and made 5 so obviously shows promise, but not sure on 35 millions worth?

I still rate Siggy, Ade and Townsend feel the three would fit in well in a 4-4-1-1 in Europe and cup games, with crosses coming in and Siggy following up. Thought he played decent in his preferred role for a change and had two more shots on goal from open play than Soldado (should have scored with second effort) but he covered a lot of ground behind Soldado as well as tracking back to the edge of the box and LM as Chadli didn't. Lamela agrees Spurs terms?
By Football Italia staff
Erik Lamela’s agents are reportedly in Madrid for talks with Tottenham while Spurs are there to sell Gareth Bale.
The Roma striker is a €35m (£30m) transfer target for Spurs and negotiations have been going on all week in London.
Last night Giallorossi director Walter Sabatini left England, but it’s now reported the talks continued elsewhere.
As Tottenham chief Franco Baldini is in Madrid to discuss the final details of Bale’s record-shattering £93m cash move to Real Madrid, Sky Sport Italia claim Lamela’s agents have also flown to Spain.
There, they are working out the personal terms on a six-year contract worth an initial £2m per season and rising.
Tension is therefore expected tonight when Roma present their squad to the fans at the Stadio Olimpico.
While Pablo Daniel Osvaldo was a popular sale due to his poor relationship with the ultras, losing Lamela would be very much frowned upon.

http://www.football-italia.net/38605/lamela-agrees-spurs-terms

Personally I don't think Baldini would be there to close the Bale deal, that'll be Levy, no way is he not playing final notes of the worlds most expensive transfer. I think, whilst Levy sorts out the Bale deal, Baldini would be there to sweet-talk Coentrao and deal with Roma about Lamela. This is going to be interesting! No Lamela when Roma introduce their squad to the crowd tonight will be very telling.

But will some now expect this kind of crazy money to be spent on a regular basis Ala city or to a slightly lesser extent, Chelsea.

Coopsie.. from my own experience .. if R madrid trying to raise £50m or more from British Banks, they will have to put up good security. They dont have their stadium available, so either their assets.. ie. players or gurrantees from directors etc. If trying to use players as assets there is always a discount by the lending bank of the value for these assets, so they will need £100m + in assets value, which has to be proved.. (for example what a club will pay for them, by way of bids.) and in a situation where assets are devaluing.. as in players getting older , it is more difficult. Anyway in this case all the he players insurance policies will have to be endorsed to show a landing bank's interest ahead of the R Madrid./ club. So at this late stage, it seems doubtful.

Spurs close in club-record deal for Erik Lamela after agreeing £31million transfer

Wednesday 21 Aug 2013 6:36 pm

Tottenham are set to break their transfer record for a fourth this summer – and the second in a couple of days – by signing Erik Lamela from Roma for £31million.
Sources in Italy have reported that Spurs have agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old Argentina international.
It is believed Lamela will move to London in a deal which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2019 and which is worth just under £2million a year.

The reports suggest Tottenham’s technical director Franco Baldini is on the brink of completing the deal with Gareth Bale close to joining Real Madrid for a world record sum of more than £100million.

News of Lamela’s move comes hot on the coat tails of the announcement from Willian that he expects to complete his £30m move from Anzhi on Thursday. The 25-year-old Brazil international is expected to sign a five-year deal after passing a medical. Spurs are also closing in on Steau Bucharest centre-half Vlad Chiriches after agreeing to pay around £3million up front – and a similar amount at the start of next year for the Romania international.

All of that of course is based on emotion as I have no inside knowledge of what his dscussions were about with Levy, AVB and Lewis in the Bahamas. So therefore I don't know if this was all planned from that moment or has just evolved. Wish all parties, except RM, well.

It's pretty hard to castigate Bale as no one knows what is on the table. With all of the alleged joint marketing money that Bale will get as a result of RM, perhaps it is one of those "can't miss" opportunities. If the reports of the salary amount are true, it's not monies we couldn't have offered him. My take is, it is too early. But, if he has decided to go, so be it. Good luck Gareth If those monies buy Willian, Lamela, Chiriches, Halilovic bros, Rebic, and nedelev, we could be in pretty good shape for a decade. Offload BAE and Adebayor and we should be able to fit all in to the squad. Lots of change, but Chadli, Capoue, Paulinho and Soldado all look pretty much up to speed. I do hope that Townsend, Falque, Kane and Carroll (yes, even though they played the other day for the U-21`s) all see some minutes on the pitch. I also expect Capoue to continue to up his fitness along with Chadli. I expect Sigurdsson will be in there (oh yeah Big C, where do I send those mortgage details). The great thing about our squad is that players are really going to have to earn their time. Other than keeper, everyone has someone breathing down their neck. Speaking of keeper, I suspect as it`ll be Friedel or Gomes in net. Honestly, I cannot remember ever having so deep of a squad, and if we add Willian and Lamela it`s going to be crazy deep and our team will not be fun to play. Sandro, Capoue, Dembele, Paulinho will all be tough to fight through just to have the pleasure of dealing with Kaboul and Vertonghen. Townsend, Chadli, Willian and Lamela if true, Lennon, and Bale if he stays are all so quick. Our counter-attacks will be greased lightning and out possession will be sublime. Rose and Walker are pretty fast too. Great squad already. Scary good if Willian and Lamela are coming too. COYS

well, well,well......i have supported our beloved spurs for just over 50 years, and i have to say this is the best squad we have EVER had... if any one slags off Levy now they need there head examined, lets give the guy the respect he NOW deserves, it appears we will lose some welsh guy (can,t remember he,s name)....but wow what a TW, .....top 4 no problem, i think 3rd is possible...and next year when squad has fully gelled we can go for 1st...................COYS

Has he signed yet (willian) or are we waiting until the lads return from Tblisi, do we have lamela coming as well, is he going to sign this week, have we gone back for Vlad Chiriches, could mean AVB see's Verts as his left back again, Coentrao is he part of the deal for the welsh guy or is it cash only, what is it with HOT TOD another player linked is he signing next week, just so we have something to do. Word out of the US is that NBC have been asked by the EPL to remove Bale from all promotional material. Just the messenger. Willian to be announced and Lamela to follow seems very likely. COYS

I'm sure ArsenL will try to hijack both deals now!
jvd
jvd it's all about context. Levy could have done better in transfer windows in the past and I believe the only reason he is doing an impressive job this summer is because of the bale money. just my 2 cents but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the spending. It is the best transfer window ever but I think it is all thanks to Bale and the fact that we get to sell him for ridiculous money
logos8
logos8, and does levy not deserve credit for negotiating the deal for bale? credit for taking a risk on villas boas when nobody wanted him, and now we see AVB has the pulling power to attract top talent, and credit for hiring baldini? as piers morgan bemoaned - why can't arsenal just buy levy
Guernman
micky58- if we sell Bale now and don't sign anyone else this will be an average window at best...for sure we've signed some good players but the team and squad would be light...let's save blowing smoke up levy's ass until the 2nd of sept.....he blew it the last two years, let's hope he's learned...

I was watching BBC America tonight and they reported that Arsenal are in for Benzema and Di Maria for a total of approx £63M. If true, that changes the game somewhat. Been raining cats and dogs here in the Philippines, bl00dy typhoon just left but still wet days here but nothing is going to dampen my spirit for my beloved Spurs!!!!! Had a chance to wear my HP Spurs top yesterday (with Pony as shirtmaker)....and the feeling was great!!!!! The time invested in supporting Spurs is so well compensated.....bl00dy well compensated, I must say!!!! Even (and I am not sure it will happen based on the financial side of things unless DL compromises on payment terms....DON'T SEE THAT HAPPENING) if Bale leaves us for RM, we have a team that can and will compete for the League Title!!! Am I dreaming, if you really look at the team we have and if Lamela, Willian, Coentrao, Chiriches come in with that Bulgarian kid, Medelev....we really have a great chance of pushing it all the way. Just give the team a few games to gel!!!!! I say keep ADE, Lennon and Townsend.....I am loving every minute of this window!!! If Bale stays, as I dont think we are spending the money from his sale so he's not going anywhere......WOW WOW WEE!!!! Now go and win against Dynamo Tblisi....whose playing for us? Ross Catanzariti ‏@bosco08 - That's Lamela. The pin-up boy for the “project”. The kid we signed for over €17m only two years ago, will now be sold to Tottenham Hotspur.

Ross Catanzariti ‏@bosco08 - Sold to a club who isn’t even in the Champions League. Sold for €30m. Barely a €10m profit over two seasons.

Came across this, MASSIVE lorry load of salt....

"Unsure whether I should have messaged a mod first but here comes some ITK (maybe)...

I was having a birthday chat with my father last night who works in Law and he told me that from a discussion he had the previous day with a certain solicitor and clerk he became privy to the fact that the money we are spending is NOT BALE MONEY, but is actually a loan with a view to buy the club from a Kuwaiti family- he was told that this families thinking behind this is, with FFP on the horizon it is simpler and faster to inject money in the team this way and then can formally buy the club at a later date.

I did not have this conversation so take with some salt but I know who my father was talking to and he is a very reliable source and would not invent this on a whim. Just passing on in good faith, enjoy "................
coopsieyid
Obviously that last bit of info was questioned......

"Thanks for the info. Doesn't make much sense to me though. Surely they would just buy the club now? If they are going to run a club at a massive loss isn't it purely for the joy of splashing the cash and the fans loving you?"...........

The response........

"Frankly, from the convo, No. Say their interest in the club came in June/July you would never get the paperwork through and signed to formally own the club by Sept 2nd and then FFP comes in and you cant just throw 100m at it anymore. This way you can."...............

Stupid money being at least 1B GBP. I also don't see any of Sigurdsson, Townsend or Lennon being sold. I expect there to be a great deal of competition between now and Christmas and there will be winners and losers. The fact is, Spurs may not be the best place for some who will be in the 2 man roster. Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Moses, de Bruyne. Why would they spend 40m on Willian and where would he play?

Madrid really have no class at all. Selling Bale shirts on their approved site before the deal is even announced. The Bale saga has been disgraceful, at its best, and wholly unethical at its worst. You reap what you sow. Bale is leaving the best Spurs squad I have ever seen. None of the money was contingent on his leaving. Now we'll buy more top talent. PSG saw last year, you can spend 120M in a TW and still not win the CL or even make the finals. You are still only one of 7 or 8 teams with the wherewithall to win it all and you don't control the brackets. There are no guarantees at RM and he certainly will not be top dog, either in Spain or at RM. COYS

Let Willian go to Chelski!!! Spurs can even pay for the move, IF they let us have Mata for free. They obviously do have many players already in that role but Moses will leave and JM apparently feels that Willian gives them more options, as he will for us. Wait and see for now.
GlennAmy
I see Holtby is in the U21 squad for tonight's game with the spammers. Good sign that he must be on his way back from injury, he could play the No 10 role I think.

@longtimespur... that was what I was thinking mate. I also do not want anyone here - no matter how skillful - if they do not want to pull on the shirt with pride and give it 100% each and every time they are called upon!

Grey Fox says: SSSSSHHHH: Treads warily into the pit! There is some very good news on the horizon re Lamela and one other
GlennAmy
Wish that was in concrete GlennAmy. We could do with some more really good news regarding incomings and also any outgoings. AVB and Baldini certainly appear to have Levy's trust. So let's get the deals finished although one outgoing not to happen would be the icing on this TW cake.

Where: ????? When: 23rd August Who: Jasper A few bits from Jasper on ????? Just doing my best to share from the limited understanding that I have. I mentioned few weeks back about huge funds regardless of Bale sale or not, and also being told 'Bale is not for sale' as that is what was being said along with RM's initial failed attempts to confirm financial substance. I pm'd a few last week saying we expected movement on Bale over weekend etc, as that was the news that was breaking. Before it was public may I add. Told we were very confident on Willian as well as Lamela, along with Vlad, as this had developed. My colleague was a part of certain things so I was confident the deal was happening so called Sky as bs and obviously was proved wrong based at the time that he was at training ground with that sneek cheat of an agent, so as some mentioned just waiting WP and sign off from Anzi, and again how mistaken everyone could be. That now leaves Vlad which is done as I am told, along with Lamela which is very close but that causes worry, and that we cannot control as there are various things going on which cannot be made public. We still have eyes Ajax way, along with Spain and France as back-ups. Coentrao or however his name is spelled, the noises are not that enthusiastic based upon who we are and where we are in position of success. I am told we are relaxed and confident we will get our targets, and if our options fail we have back ups. Only time will tell. I am trying my best to share and not get slated. I am aware I said Daws was going to be out for a while and that was the noises out of the club, and well done Daws, as well as glad with Younes. It is my conviction and have always challenged this ITK nonsense and said I believe in NITK as only say DL and board will really know, but then again they were NITK as it seems Willian has gone to that crap up the road who have no morals, and only if one new how they operate. That is my input for now, and as I say you can take it with a ton of salt or sarcastic chuckles as I have shared in total honesty my take, and conclude by saying 'Who really knows what will happen?' my post stated (Ajax). Only thing is Toby not so sure now but the other Ericksen, but we are now talking to other options as well and believe you know the names. Interest in Ljajic but not much hope, and Eriksen is ours to say no.
GlennAmy
Where: ????? When: 23rd August Who: Jasper Re: Benny In France awaiting medical results which is a challenge. Not sure he will past one so we will see. he does not want to extend and made it known so.

Cheers again Glenn why would we not take Eriksen?? There must be something that AVB and Baldini are not sure about. Shame if we miss out on Alderweild though, although there have been some negative comments about him being the full package.
longtimespur
longtime..Agree ref: Eriksen. Ticks all the boxes regarding resale value you'd think. Age, talent etc,. Why not?.
Cider spurs
Cider / Longtime - have to agree watched a lot of Ajax games over last of couple of years and always been impressed with Eriksen. Alderweild seems to be able to play across the back four if needed, sure they would adapt to PL without big problems. Unless the club are working on someone else ???
spurexile
I agree that Eriksen should be a buy at the price and he wants to come. Hopefully a few more to arrive soon. I think Vlad Chirichesis lined up as first chjoice for defender. The chat has been for it to happen after the weekend mon (tue) because of the bank holiday. Apparently Lemala's brother has been told to keep shtum over him on twitter so it is being kept private, really hoping that happens asap. COYS

We seemed to be pushing for both Lamela and Willian to replace bale so fingers crossed that now Chelsea have taken one of them, it means that we will continue to work on Lamela and still look at that second player. Whether that turns out to be Lamelas mate at Roma or Eriksen who knows? I think what annoyed me about the Willian situation was JM taking the ***** the other day saying we should have had the medical in secret. I have been so so so impressed with the professionalism of our club throughout this transfer window, at no point have we shouted our mouths off about potential comings or goings, but this is the world in which we live. ITKs and journos are all over clubs dealings like flies on the proverbial. Vlad really looks to be a quality ball player from the back. Fingers crossed his defence is up to scratch if we get him.

Oh and BBC reporting at the moment that Real have given spurs two options for Bale, one is the World Record fee (about 85mil) in instalments, the other is about 70mil up front. They are waiting for us to decide which we want to accept, this seems strange to me and again strikes me of RM jumping the gun a little as neither of these options appear to be what DL wants. 70mil is massively less than the clubs evaluation, although it has been suggested that a player may be used as make weight in this option. And we know that DL does not want an instalment option. It's still anyone's guess!

Agree that jose was taking the p155, but what got me was he so smug. However I think that is because he is worried that AVB is building something major here, and hat they bought willian as much to spite us, as they do have an embarrassment of riches in that position already. I doubt there is any love left between the two of them, if there was any anyway!
GlennAmy
Spanish radio yesterday morning said that the Bale transfer would be announced yesterday at 2pm. Well I haven't heard anything, unless I've got the days wrong and it's still Friday...... They/ve been saying "done deal" on and off for the past two months. That stage that all the rags are saying has been put up for the Bale presentation was actually put up for the Raul testimonial.

@FabRomano21: Lamela called up to Roma squad against Livorno. Normal. But no problems for Tottenham: monday will be the day to finalize deal #THFC
GlennAmy
Lamela being in the "squad" doesn't necessarily mean he will play.
Hot_Spur
If lemala plays then we are not as far advanced as we think, however being named in the squad could just be posturing by Roma for a couple of reasons, 1) their fans are not that happy about the player sales 2) playing hardball with us over fee etc... going to be a long weekend I think ;0)
GlennAmy
Di Marzio: ENG Spoke at a press conference on the eve of the match against Livorno, the coach of the Rome Rudi Garcia also speaks of Erik Lamela, that between monday and tuesday may leave the company. The deal with Tottenham and at an advanced stage, the Argentine has in program also includes a trip to England. But Garcia there thinks: "Lamela? Erik is in the list of players of tomorrow, as 22 other players. The training? I will give only two hours before the race. Is this not the day to speak of the market, but it would be more appropriate to speak of the Livorno. Work with the leaders: I am confident. We must consider the aspect both technical and economic. We work to find a solution for every situation". The theme market but not closes: "Tomorrow i don't know if Sabatini will be with us because there is a deal in progress. I am sure that there will be soon. If i knew that the company would sell Marquinhos, Lamela and Osvaldo? Are purchases that have been made and that will be made in their place. For every coach would like to have a player who scores 15 goals a season and who is the holder of the National argentina… ".

Ryantegan on Alvaro Vadillo: hearing we may go back and pay the release clause
GlennAmy
We are in for Hulk (& others)- according to Jason Burt: Spurs are hoping to secure three more signings before the transfer window closes on September 2. There will also be several departures, with Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid the most high-profile for a world-record fee. Spurs – still smarting at missing out on Willian to Chelsea – would prefer to secure their two attacking players before releasing Bale but Real are pushing hard for an announcement to be made within the next couple of days. A deal is in place for Spurs to sign Roma forward Erik Lamela, believed to be worth around £26 million, equalling the club’s transfer record, and they are again bidding for Steaua Bucharest central defender Vlad Chiriches who they value at £7.5 million. Hulk has long been admired by head coach Andre Villas-Boas, who worked with the 27-year-old forward at Porto, although any deal hinges on his current club, Zenit St Petersburg, lowering their demands. The Russians have been demanding closer to £40 million. In Tottenham’s favour is the fact that Hulk wants to reunite with Villas-Boas even though the club is not in the Champions League. Spurs are considering other options if a deal cannot be agreed for Hulk including Lamela’s team-mate Miralem Pjanic, an attacking midfielder. While it is unlikely that Roma would sell the Bosnian international having already allowed Pablo Osvaldo to join Southampton, that position could change if they follow up their interest in Chelsea’s Demba Ba. Another option for Spurs could be CSKA Moscow’s Russian international Alan Dzagoev who was offered to them last year. Spurs will also monitor how much playing time Juan Mata gets at Chelsea now that Jose Mourinho is signing Willian. Spurs have already recouped £23 million this summer and if they secure their targets, one of Jermain Defoe or Emmanuel Adebayor could be sold – the likelihood is the former – and there are question marks over Aaron Lennon's future as well.
GlennAmy
