DEADLINE DAY NONSENSE!!

Yep, the title deserved capital letters & an exclamation mark, it is, afterall, the countdown to the day that so many people look forward to, DEADLINE DAY!!! We do look forward to it, right? Will we get any surprises? Will we stick or twist? I know which one I want us to do, but will our club feel the same way?

There's going to be LOTS of rumours, rubbish, and downright ridiculous stuff mooted around, but surely you/we all know by now that we should have that barrel load of salt available? Either way, I've decided to submit this early, due to the fact that it'll be LOTS of info coming in from today onwards. I'm going 'balls deep' into this one, so buckle up & get ready for a LONG read :-)

Here's where we're at right now, and more will be added as it comes in. I fully hope that this will get a massive amount of responses, as we pick every last splinter out of every snippet of information.

YEVHEN KONOPLYANKA - Rumours are all over Europe that suggest we've entered the race in an attempt to hijack Liverpoo's bid. Here's a link to one story - http://fcdnipro.com/news/konopljanka-vedet-peregovory-s-tottenxemom-813.html

@AddictedtoSpurs: Konoplyanka's Agent : 'I had yesterday a long important talk with a President of an English Club (Not LFC). My Player could move there too'

And here's (Spurs supporting) Greg Stobart (of Goal.com) adding fuel to the fire - ‏@gstobart -
Sounds like #THFC have definitely shown an interest in #LFC target Konoplyanka. Not sure as to extent of discussions yet.

Whilst this is an article that 'suggests' our manager likes the player - http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2014/01/30/4580638/tottenham-eye-late-move-for-liverpool-target-konoplyanka?ICID=HP_BN_3

And Ben Smith (one of The BBC's main football journalists) was questioned by a Liverpoo supporter on twitter.

Daniel4Lfc. ‏@Danielfils
@BenSmithBBC Are spurs also interested in konoplyanka and have they made a bid??

Ben Smith ‏@BenSmithBBC
@Danielfils Yes Spurs are in for Yevhen Konoplyanka. De ja vu for Liverpool

And here's a clip of him giving our current Right-Back a lesson (and actually outpacing him :-0 ) -http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/456740/VIDEO-Watch-Liverpool-target-Yevhen-Konoplyanka-terrorise-Spurs-star-Kyle-Walker

And here's an excellent clip from ScoutNation - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zBSGaakkUsc

Will we actually get him? Is there REALLY a late interest being showed by us? Buggered if I know, but I somehow doubt it, and I reckon the Ukranians are just using us to get Liverpoo to meet his release clause (I don't know what that is)

Then, maybe not related to the Konopplyanka story, but JJetset was questioned on twitter..

Mr e ‏@harj_jhutie
@jetsetyid are we gunna do anything in the transfer market mate?

The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid
@harj_jhutie Maybe ....

DIMITAR BERBATOV - Greg Stobart ‏@gstobart
@smileberg I think Berbatov will come back once Fulham have signed Mitroglou

@wayneveysey: Levy wants Berbatov. Sherwood not so sure. Fulham want Holtby & Mitroglu. Will only allow Berba to leave if Mitroglu agreed. Story to come.

Chris Miller ‏@WindyCOYS
The Times are reporting that Berbatov will move to Spurs until the end of the season, with Holtby going on loan to Fulham. #THFC #Spurs

http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/30/tottenham-make-1million-offer-to-re-sign-fulham-striker-dimitar-berbatov-4283368/

LEWIS HOLTBY - Greg Stobart ‏@gstobart
Lewis Holtby waving goodbye to the few Tottenham supporters still here after another embarrassing defeat.

Apparently he also threw his shirt into the crowd? Hopefully it's a 6 month loan swap for Holtby. Surely that makes sense for ALL parties?

ITK from 'RyanTegan' and 'Gards'... http://i.imgur.com/UnBWmsH.png & http://i.imgur.com/N2jgRqN.png

And here too (about Konoplyanka).. Gards ‏@Gards44 Protected Tweets
@SibsTHFC there talking nonsense no football knowledge and we have tracked this guy for over a year!

Jay (ryantegan) ‏@ryantegan
working on 2 in and 2 out. But probably too late for the ins. would be typical. 'We tried but...'

Jay (ryantegan) ‏@ryantegan
Capoue may not move on a permanent. Could be a LOAN if things are left too late

That's about it for now. I could keep going because 'info' is coming through in a constant stream right now. You all know the drill by now, if you don't like it, don't comment on it. If you think it's bullpoop, it probably is bullpoop, but it could also be true, who knows? All I do know for sure, is that this is NOT an article about Levy. This is NOT an article about ENIC. This is NOT an article about Joe Lewis. Therefore, if you wish to go on a 's**t-slinging quest' about any of those topics, please feel free to submit an article & have a chat with yourself. This is all about transfer related Nonsense, not your own personal vendetta Nonsense. Here's to our Deadline Day build up :-) COYS

ghulamville
i think its actually arsenal who are the ones chasing konoplyanka and not us
ghulamville
it appears asenal will close out draxler and toni kroos is likely to go to manure, this woud be sick

Cheers for the article Coops, much needed after the inevitible doom and gloom resulting from last night. No doubt there'll be dozens of 'reports' linking us with all and sundry between now and 11 o'clock tomorrow night, and like the fool I am I look forward to every last one of them!! Hope all's well with you and yours mate. Come on you beautiful Spurs!!!
LilyWhiteHart
Nice work Coops. 2 in, 2 out? That would be nice but I really doubt it. 0 in and 2 out? Quite possibly. I suppose it beats 1 in, 5 out or 0 in, 5 out or even 0 in, 6 out.
SpuriousLife
OXFORDSPUR - Thank you for getting this up so quickly, and THANK YOU for adding that little extra story I requested. you're a true star :-).....

ghulam - Hopefully Gards was right, and we've been following Konoplyanka for over a year. One thing I will say, IF we've been following him for that long, and IF we are genuinely interested in signing him, WHY wait until another club has already almost signed him before making any move for him?
coopsieyid
Can Carnalplanker play left-back too? I'm sure I've seen him there on occasions...Would take Berbatov in a heartbeat...for me Capoue was at fault for City's second goal yesterday, we desperately need Sandro and Paulinho in midfield. I would love Holtby out (loan), Capoue out (permanent), Sigurddson out (Evo-stick team paid to take him). Berbatov and Carnalplanker in.
Sebastian Short
SL & LWH - Not a problem fellas. It's going to be HECTIC for me over the next 2 days, and I'm going to do my best to get as much Nonsense as possible, from every corner of the internet. As LWH rightly stated, this is MUCH NEEDED after the shambolic showing we all got last night. All is as good as can be down here in Cornwall, so hopefully our club can now do something to make things better for each and every one of you who are scattered all over the world. COYS
coopsieyid
Konoplyanka - "Deal sounds off, a couple of news outlets saying we are out and it's between Liverpool and a German club"... Some seem to blieve it'll be Dortmund, him being a replacement for Reus.
coopsieyid
off topic but a great review from Patrick Barclay about Spurs' current situation: Whether Spurs can keep up their challenge for a top-four spot remains to be seen. Sherwood takes them to Hull on Saturday for a test perhaps more fair than last night’s and then must have his men in peak condition for Everton home and Newcastle away in the space of four days. Given that March includes trips to Chelsea and Liverpool as well as a home match with Arsenal, the supporters will be bracing themselves for disappointment. And not just because of that caning from City that cleared so many of White Hart Lane’s seats before the end; anyone is liable to be punished by Manuel Pellegrini’s team. No, plenty of Spurs fans had also seen Liverpool on the telly the night before. And that’s what a Champions League team look like. Spurs lost their Champions League look when they sold Gareth Bale and hopes that Andre Villas-Boas could bring it back were soon pronounced vain by the powers that had appointed him. They are likely to end this season on square one and I suspect that’s where Spurs will spend a lot of time until owner Joe Lewis and chairman Daniel Levy stop playing fantasy football and get their shovels out. Spurs need that new stadium. Don’t get me wrong: square one’s fine. And so’s the Europa League. It’s just that the audience have been led to expect better.
Sebastian Short
That konaplayanka kid is on a level none of our other wide players are currently on. I very sure he will do fantastic in the prem. he reminds of a Townsend with a much more consistent end product. Please please sign him

i actually prefer his team-mate yarmalenko actually

@MirrorAnderson
This source in Ukraine also claims Spurs are out of the race, but that Liverpool now face competitifrom an unnamed German side.

@MirrorAnderson
According to a source in Ukraine, Liverpool have upped their offer for Konoplyanka to 19.4m euros. Prepared to pay him £60k-a-week.

@MirrorAnderson
Perhaps take this with a pinch of salt, but Konoplyanka is being quoted in Ukraine saying: "LFC? I'm so excited about it."

What I can say about that is 1, I've never seen this David Anderson tweeting any info before, so I choose not to believe it lol. And 2, he says Liverpoo have offered £60k per week, but after looking on many different forums & websites, it seems Konoplyanka is already on anything between £80k & £100k per week. Also, from what I've found out elsewhere, his club is owned by the 3rd richest man in the Ukraine, so there'll be little to no need for them to 'cash in' on him.
coopsieyid
Danny Murphy on @Talksport - Berbatov WILL Leave Fulham in 24 hrs....

But didn't say where.. The obvious guess would be us ?
coopsieyid
coops-i think eveything else is sorted and the only stumbling block appears to be personal terms
ghulamville
No offence to Ade as he's doing a great job, but what I wouldn't give to see Berbatov and Soldado together, Lamela to the right of them, Eriksen behind pulling strings.......

Sexual.
coopsieyid
As for Konoplyanka, All I know is that if I was an attacking winger, and watched us vs Liverpoo, I wouldn't question for a second where I would want to be. Sadly LFC play as a fluid team. We look like a bunch of kids out there on the pitch.
coopsieyid
Lots of loan players being mentioned, though, and a temporary manager?

Sounds good (sensible) to me!.
coopsieyid
Ghulamville, judging by our signings of last summer, 7 players of whom only 3 have performed, and 3 of the other 4 look a total waste of space, including 2 who collectively cost some £56M. Perhaps we could do better with the Boy Scouts.
Frank
Seb, WHY? Now we'll have that daily basher on here & I really wanted to avoid that for once :-(

Sorry mate.
coopsieyid
Berbatov back to spurs has the same kind of ring to it as Mata to Manure....................Anyone know if Arse-sol Campbell is still playing too??
WestStandEnclosure
any chance we can put a request in for the 2nd in......Left Back PLEASE!!!!!
jhbspur
Capoue was not on the pitch when City scored there second goal!!!!!
johna
31st January 2020 - Bale returns to the lane, you heard it hear first.

Lets hope this Monopoly*****a kid isn't like Rebrov. On paper and You Tube they look good, on the turf, well thats another story.
Berbatov and Ade, looks like a trip to Mothercare is required to ensure we have enough dummies!!!
yiddyboy
ghulam - re Yarmolenko, A Yiddo inUkraine said this......

Konopa (as he's called by his mates) is quite talented (in fact, many pundits in Ukraine consider him to be better than Yarmolenko), and his release clause (IIRC) should be a couple of million less than Yarmolenko.
I personally think he's worth the investment, and would really really love it if we could flip him from the dippers.

He is capable of playing either flank (although for Ukraine and for Dnipro he starts almost exclusively on the left) -->> from LM in a 4-4-2 or LW in a 4-2-3-1 respectively.

As far as Yevhen's technical skills and physical abilities, he is equally comfortable with both feet, but has an especially powerful right foot.
He is also smooth on the dribble and has great pace. In fact, during his teens he was dubbed (the excessively used and abused the world over) the new, up-and-coming "Ukrainian Messi". Go figure....

Anyhow, IMHO he would be great for us (as unlikely as his potential transfer is ATM). COYS"...............
coopsieyid
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9141355/

SkySports now reporting the 2 way fight for Konoplyanka. 1 thing, we're playing his team in the Europa League, No? I'm sure part of the deal could legally include things such as paid transport, lodging, and food for their trip to London. Would optimize their profit, and undoubtedly get their ear in discussing advantages over selling to 'Pool.
coopsieyid
To get on-topic for a moment, I reckon a little realism is called for. Not only for today/tomorrow in the market, but until the end of the season. Those who want Sherwood out but also want new signings will, I believe, be disappointed. Whether or not we finish top-four (we won't, by the way!) I don't believe Sherwood will be our manager next year. And more than that, I believe he knows it too. With that in mind, it makes zero sense to start spreading around cash on transfer fees for permanent signings. If we bring in anyone, I believe it would/should a loan striker (Berbatov?) and possibly CB/LB loan cover (Lescott?). I have us down as finishing 6th this year. Very disappointing bearing in mind my/our optimism at the start of the season, but I believe that's realistic given our current points (and goal difference!!) and the fixtures we have left, particularly in the next 4-6 weeks. Next year will see us with a new manager, who'll be wanting to assess and improve the squad to suit his ideas and tactics. We can only hope that our better players stay with us and buy into that philosophy. We can get 6th with the squad we currently have. So I wouldn't actually shed any tears if we saw no outs and no ins ths month. That said, I'm still gonna be glued to Sky Sports all day and night tomorrow!! Come on you beautiful Spurs!!!
LilyWhiteHart
Fulham just loaned in a player called Kvist, who is a CM, so I guess no Holtby to them then?
coopsieyid
DEADLINE DAY NONSENSE!! Perfect title for losers Levy's 28th Fantasy Football, ENIC Auction House, Fantasy Football dead line day, Scrooge countdown climax...
Pele10
Coopsie ... you've been a very busy boy! Thanks. :-)
Geofspurs
Top article again Coops. Personally, I wouldn't sign anyone yet except on loan. The new manager ( in the summer i presume) will inivitably want another overhall when he comes in. Why lumber him with another player he needs to get rid of. Re Berbatov, if Levy wants him and Sherwood doesn't this is not a good sign. Interfering barely a months into Sherwwods reign. Will our chairman ever learn?
jonathan01
if we are even contemplating konop where the hell does this leave lamela?have we given up on him?this signing doesnt make sense to me somehow
ghulamville
And just to get off-topic, when seeing someone repeatedly and relentlessly use the incredibly imaginative nickname 'Loser Levy', I can't help but believe that the creator of said nickname is in all likelihood typing on his very first big-boy keyboard having very recently graduated from an Etch-a-Sketch. Come on you beautiful Spurs!!!
LilyWhiteHart
Yarmolenko is a good shout though....BUT get us a LB!...and keep capoue until we have a manager who knows what talent looks like...
shedboy2
Konoplyanka has some lightning pace and skill but could take time to adapt and build up his stamina for the PL? I wonder how much money we would be willing to chuck at him to get the deal? Good comp for Chadli though if the interest is real if course…and maybe he can have a word with Walker about positioning ha. Cheers as always coops. COYS.
SpursOne2
I don't think we'll get Konopplyanka. Liverpool are probably willing to give him higher wages than us
logos8
let's get reus or arda turan and Alex sandro....left side sorted....;)
shedboy2
Coops your a legend mate......" Going balls deep" lmfao! Don't know much about this guy what's he all about? Left or right sided or more a no 10? Berbs I think I'd have back on loan until the end of the season with Lewis going on loan the other way to give him playing time. Capoue could go with no real issue for me we are overloaded in the DM role and for me he's way down the order.
Supayid
Good stuff coopsieyid! COYS!
James1
Shed, you still don't you get it do you? Pauli, Vertonghen and the mighty Sandro are all still injured therefore unsellable this window! Therefore Danny has to raise his Fantasy Football Pocket money from somewhere because we all know the Scrooge ain't going to give him no more candy money after yet another humiliation! Therefore Capoue has to go now to raise some Fantasy football cash for Danny, followed by Pauli, Vertonghen The Mighty Sandro (if fit) Lloris and anyone else who impresses in the world cup. It's going to be one hell of a summer for the little Auction House Loser in Brazil!!!
Pele10
overloaded in DM....? what sandro and Capoue? yep two is too many when won't play any...good job we have sooo many CM's that an untried 19 yr old can claim a spot not doing much...
shedboy2
Pele- Coops does want to try and keep this thread on transfers...I realise there is a bigger picture re Levy and finance but I am going to try and keep to topic...even if we aren't really going to do f all apart recycle some cash and put a stop gap in....
shedboy2
Berbatov to Tottenham and Konoplyawka to Liverpool which club will benefit the most. No brainer!!!!
camper
Some of you may want to keep an eye on this twitter feed

https://twitter.com/FNN_Ukraine

Tweeting in English from Ukraine and seems to know whats going on. Again, can't vouch for his reliability.
coopsieyid
if only pele10 would stay out of this thread... ffs
logos8
What's the weather forecast in your neck of the woods, Pele?
MAN ON!
There's definitely a big unknown German team in for Konoplyanka, that seems to be gathering momentum according to reports from Ukraine media. Seems our interest coming out has sparked a lot of clubs into action unfortunately.
coopsieyid
I cant be more on topic Shed! This is Danny Boys 28th transfer window, and I eagerly await the CLIMAX to yet another ENIC Fantasy Football Auction window. God it's so exciting supporting a football Auction House! Who needs silverware and CL when we get to change our entire squad every 12 months... ;)
Pele10
Dortmund seem to be the German club from whats being said on Twitter.
coopsieyid
I bet Holtby is dreaming of Dortmund! Just like Lloris and the rest of the top players want out after sussing Levy...
Pele10
I'm finding it difficult to decide wether or not we should do any dealings at all before the summer. We have so many players right now that are either unsettled or coming back from injury. If there is just one signing and, for whatever position, I just hope it's one that can make an immediate impact. A goalscorer, a leader, a fighter, a confident and skilful character that with just a touch of arrogance can turn a match on it's head. I wait in hope, but all is not lost.
MAN ON!
If will sell Capoue, then it makes it hard to argue against alot of what Pele10 says, even if he is somewhat irritating about the constant repeat posts. Re Konoplyanke, I don't believe we are in for him . I think agents are at work here. If we are in for him, on whose say so is it. Levy, Sherwood or Van Gaal (substitute Van Gaal for whovever is coming in the summer).
jonathan01
That time of the moth again pele10,?cant help it can ya...go on, bluff everywhere. coops, the article is a breath of fresh air, i don't think it will be the busiest window for us but its a cool link between match articles. Keep it up man! COYS.
SpursOne2
Cheers coopsieyid, for your time and effort…. Who knows there may be just one shiny little gem in there somewhere, waiting to be unearthed. COYS!
MAN ON!
Sell Chadli, if we can get a profit on Siggy do that as well. Do not buy anyone else unless they are BRILLIANT.
T.H.F.Chris
MAN ON ... There you go again. Modric, Modric, Modric. Admit it, that's who you want! :-)
Geofspurs
Just came across a bit of gossip that suggests why we missed out on Salah.....

"We wouldn't increase our offer from £10m to £12m because our famed "Transfer CCommittee" has a policy of determining a Max value for a target and NEVER ever going above this amount no matter what the circumstances. This is what happened with Salah.".........

IF true, that's bloody shambolic & no way to conduct transfer business!!
coopsieyid
And here we go AGAIN, FFS......

Paulinho says that it is 'good' to be linked with Real Madrid but is focused on getting fully fit for Tottenham.

Source: Sky Sports

The 25-year-old picked up an ankle injury against Stoke on December 28th but could feature against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilian midfielder has impressed for Tim Sherwood's side since his £17million summer move from Corinthians.

Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid could make a move for Paulinho, but speaking to Sambafoot, he insists that Tottenham is his focus.

Paulinho said: "I leave these matters with my agent, but without doubt it is good recognition for any player to be coveted by a club with the history of Real Madrid.

"My head, however, is completely focused on returning to play and win at Tottenham."

Paulinho hopes that his form for Tottenham will secure him a starting place in Brazil's World Cup team.
coopsieyid
Modric, or may be Berbatov? Can't quite make up my mind...
MAN ON!
coopsieyid, we certainly could have done with Paulinho last night…...
MAN ON!
Grey Fox, the ITK fella, has spoken about the rumoured £75k that it was suggested Holtby is on. He's said "No way is he on 75k, He got paid a "lump" when transferred and as a young player he will not be on more than £50K"......
coopsieyid
I doubt he's even on as much as 50K….

Get Weiman from Villa and I would be very very very happy. Berbatov even though I really disllike the bloke..I mean really! It would take some balls for him to come back to us and if he has those said balls then maybe he is prepared to play his heart out...and that I'm ok with.

Afternoon Coops. Lovin the article, i do like a good gossip. So A big German club might be in for Konoplyanka, Dortmund as a replacement for Reus. So in my little hung over World, that means we are signing Reus :-). If this is true regarding Salah...All i can say is "bumfluff". I think we missed one there that we could have got over the line if we wanted. I do however remind myself we have Lamela who i hear is good on the Right, but not a winger. IMO Konoplyanka would straight away be the best talent we would have LW if we were to sign him. Both our wings are poor, so a true LW would be most welcome. Closing note, Sherwood mentioned no business unless we can pull of a signing that would improve the team( LOL kinda obvious you'd think) Here's the thing, why don't we give it large, and in your own words go "balls deep" ourselves for some $ hithot talent. Berba would be good also IMO, LB and LW.
Cider spurs
kind of agree with TR..if anyone is surplus it's Gylfi...I just don't see all the left back links? where are they? our main problem position and nothing? ffs Verts has been out because of LB we can't settle a formation because of LB....Rose is now suspended (don't hold your breath on an appeal succeeding) and he's not very good...we need to do something. I'd hate to see Pauli, Verts, Sandro, Lloris, Kaboul leave in the summer...now that would push us even further back...
shedboy2
LWH - Agree, YES to Lescott, and YES to loans only, if possible.

Pele - READ THE ARTICLE, or just the last paragraph. IF you can't abide by that one simple request, please FU** OFF!!

Geof - Thank you, it's just a shame that one idiot has to undermine all of that effort!!

Jonathan - i agree with you too, same as LWH, re loans only. Maybe Levy isn't interfering with Sherwood? Maybe the info I've shared is bollox? All i know, from a personal level, is I could see the sense in Levy wanting Berbatov. Not for financial reasons, but because we're fu**ed if Adebayor gets injured, or loses interest. Short term, i don't see a problem with Berbatov, despite his past with us.

ghulam - Konoplyanka plays from the left, Lamela is best from the right of a front 3, or behind a striker. neither would affect the other :-)

SO2 - Cheers fella, seems anything around £15mil is the fee being mentioned.

Supayid - This response has already answered your questoon (he's LEFT sided), and there's a bloody good clip of his abilities in the article :-)

James - Cheers pal :-)

MAN ON - Your post (about being unsure etc) echoes my feelings perfectly.

ledge - I'd take Weimann too mate. Very good player, going to get better with each season he matures.

logos8 - Ditto, re Siggy before Holtby.
coopsieyid
let's go balls deep for Sandro....yep have two of them on the team (alex sandro). Has coentrao not gone yet?
shedboy2
shed...Alex Sandro is a good shout.
Cider spurs
No point in buying anyone, No point in selling anyone, we have avoided relegation, the current team and squad is not good enough to compete against the teams in the champions league, had we been in it this season, we may have got a europa place finishing 3rd or out full stop. The sooner this season ends and the paperboy who's looking after the newsagent is removed and Van Gaal is given the job in the summer, then in the next transfer window we can start all over again.
spu 4 life
lets take Berba back this transfer window, next year followed by modric and bale, that would be awesome.
foofighter
SERIOUSLY, has nobody paid any attention to this post....

Would our official twitter page say this for no reason?

http://i.imgur.com/8g9KvXI.png

Maybe a sly message for us?................

If you can't be bothered to copy & paste the link, I'll tell you that it's our official twitter page, and it's wishing Dimitar Berbatov a happy birthday. Now, I don't know how many of you use twitter, or follow our official feed? But i can categorically tell you that I've NEVER seen us wish him a happy anything, since he left us 6 years ago. It's one heck of a coincidence that they're doing it now, no?
coopsieyid
Coops – So that’s from our OFFICIAL twitter page? Looks like he’s coming back then as I can’t see any reason why they would wish him happy birthday, or is it that they are taking the pi$$ stating that he’s thirty bloody three?? Doesn’t matter anyway as its completely the wrong signing. We need a pacy forward ala Suarez, Augero, Sturridge. I can’t believe how TS can honestly say we don’t need any improvements, its laughable. It’s time to see how badly the board want CL football. The only possible way we will get it this season (or the next or the next or that matter) is to go out and buy a finished article like united have. Its very clear that TS doesn’t rate Soldado (understandable) so just go out and actually spent some real money on a striker. If they want CL football and the £30m+ it generates every season go and meet Costa’s Release clause, or pay the £££ to get X Y or Z. Typical bloody spurs just wasted all the bale money and are now scrapping the barrel. Loosing Salah over £2m makes me want to punch levy in his bald little face.
hudderspur
Sigggurgitate who the hell wants him. What does he bring to this Spurs team?

So much gossip about Holtby going out, either on loan or for good. One thing that does sound feasible is Lewis being loaned to Fulham and Dimitar coming our way. Can Holtby be enough for Fulham to turn around their season and is it possible that Berbatov can do similar for us? I somehow think that The Cottagers will be getting the better deal.

This is interesting, from a Ukranian fella speaking about Ian Ayres flying out to finalise the Konoplyanka deal for Liverpoo.....

"He got there yesterday evening to do the deal today. However, there are now reports from our only reliable ITK that Head of Recruitment Dave Fallows is in Kiev negotiating Konoplyanka and Ayre is in fact in Spain trying to do a deal for M'vila??"......

IF true, Liverpoo showing real determination to get that CL spot.

Speculate to accumalate. Does the board have the balls to chase the champs league. People rightly or wrongly are going to state we already have 7 new signings to bed in, any more would be a step too far. Thing is, we still hold too many players IMO who are not top 4 material. Then there is the manager factor. Would we give funds to a stop gap manager. I believe in two things 1. Are squad is better than it was, but still some way off strong enough to convince me we can secure top 4 year on year. 2. Some of our players i believe can offer more, what is holding them back. Are there issues within the club, is the coaching $hiet.
Cider spurs
Cider spurs, I do see where you're coming from but I do believe that, simply put, It's down to our management/head coach change, mid-season and not having a settled team for most of the season. Players not knowing if they're coming or going, playing or not, doesn't help.

So based on my last post, whilst i would love for us to go in hard and make a serious statement of intent, my head tells me the board feel we've already done this in the previous window, 2 days won't allow for much, and Sherwood has been told to get the best out of current squad. It really does just come down to money. And before you start PELE, nothing to do with Levy and co. but about the fact that some clubs owners are prepared to shell out Millions in the hope of success, our club is run by those who wish to spend or save their money elsewhere, totally their choice. That said, we are improving, but the windows always seem to hurt a little when you see the Bulti Millionaires sign whomever they choose regardless of cost. Now that to me Pele is a genuine example of a chairman/owner playing fantasy football. We have not got equal funds, so as opposed to fantasy, i suggest you use fantastic when mentioning ENIC and Levy in the same sentence. No need for thanks, glad to be of assistance. Afterall, you have been struggling somewhat for a while now getting your head round all the GOOD Levy and Enic have brought to the club.

According to our information, the Portuguese international winger Manchester United, Nani, who has long been on the shelves of PSG, could be loaned to Tottenham by Friday evening, the closing date of the winter transfer window. According to a source close to the MU manager, David Moyes, Tottenham have opened discussions with Manchester to get the loan Nani. Negotiation is in progress, and could well result. Inter Milan is also in the race.

Van gaal in the summer (?) is a phiss poor excuse not to address our immediate problems this January. And those have been repeated ad nauseam (love it) but I'll state them again, LB, LW, ST and back-up goal keeper in that order!!!!! Now I'm no genius (no arguement please, cider /man-on) but these four areas have been a weak spot in our squad for at least the last four transfer windows and have yet to be addressed effectively (I'm looking at you Soldado). Regardless of whether Sherwood stays or someone else is brought in these problems will still need addressing. Delaying will only make the task harder in the summer???

Nani would be more of a threat to Lennon I think. I know he has been used a lot on the left, but he is right footed and more natural on the right as a winger.

Man On, makes even less sense, Lennon on the right, Lamela (alledgedly) can function there, Townsend can as well, Walker in a pinch could be moved forward (and judging by his defensive performances maybe he should be) and Chadli has been tried there as well. Yet left wing has only an injured Townsend who can comfortably play there?

Cider - I admire your passion and loyalty to ENIC/Levy and you're spot on, they have brought us on to bigger and better things. However, do you also not get the feeling that they have taken us as far as they can? I'd love to see CL football more often but that comes at a cost, in the last 2/3 seasons we have been in a great position to push on to increase the chances of CL football only to be held back by the board/Levy/ENIC. They are accountable for the whole project and whilst the board are making money noboby will say anything. Just removing the managers and starting over and over is getting tiresome to say the least. I want Spurs to be competing at the highest level, if that's not the dream of the rest of the fans then OK I'm on my own, but is it really the dream of the board too???

First thanks coops for the article much appreciated.

Now this player that we and LFC are chasing, do we need another midfielder I ask? Yes he can play left but so can Townsend. If we get him it will be at the expense of a midfielder leaving imo and that worries me. If any should be sold I would say Siggy, purely because if we can get back what we paid then that would be good business and I don't see him getting in ahead of Eriksen now and we have Lamela as well and Holtby. The lad seems a nice lad bt he just hasn't fitted in and I can't see the room for him whatever system we play. So may be Siggy sold and with Defoe money we may go for this player to play left and compete with Townsend.

I will be happy with the Berby/Holtby swop if it is loans only. We do not want a expensive Berby wage bill at his age and we do not want to see Holtby sold yet, we need to hold on to players until the summer and then evaluate. I thin Holtby has a bright future and he ill improve. I think Berby will keep the strikers on their toes but long term not the answer and too expensive to buy him. Loans fine until end of season.

Personally I would probably do the loan so Holtby gets game time, and try and get a LB in although I can see why a lW would help as we cannot rely on one natural left player in Townsend. May be if Siggy doesn't go then Chadli, I don't want us to lose Capoue, if one had to make way like I said Siggy or Chadli.

yiddy...hello mate. Yes i do believe ENIc have took us as far as they can. I'm most probably boring a few today with my MONEY posts. Fact is, to take the next step is going to take a serious cash injection. Something our current owner chooses not to partake in. I stand by my view ENIC have led the club forward, but i agree with your inquisitive questioning of ENIC's intentions. A couple of times now i believe with minimal investment we could have secured Champs league, but surely that generates more money for ENIC to sit on if that is indeed the case. I don't think they're mugging us off, i just believe they are to cautious in their approach to where we aspire to be. There business model is a very long game, we are ready for the next step, and that needs to be done swiftly, cut-throat, bish, bash, bosh style. This i believe is not in ENICs make up, Stadium build, and thank you, that's my take on it.

Cider spurs, tells about all the "Fantastic" things ENIC have done for us, like having the worst trophy per season percentage of any Tottenham owners since world war 2, like only making the CL once in 14 (soon to be 15) seasons. All the "Fantastic" things like failing to reach as single FA Cup final in 14 seasons... Like selling all our star players such as Bale with 3 full seasons still left on his contract, and now Lloris and Pauli are making noises to get the hell out this Enic nightmare, knowing there is no chance of big time success whilst Levy and the scrooge are running the show! All these "Fantastic" things that ENIC have done like failing to raise the cash for the new stadium (not a penny of it) in 14 seasons with 4.5 billion quids worth of THFC board members on board... Back to the window, who will Danny sell in the next 24 hours or so, before the mass exodus in the summer???

After all, i know our limitations financially, why spend hours talking about anything different other than our hopes and fears for the Window. P.S...How's the Orchestra coming along?. ;-)
Cider spurs
Whatever transpires in this window we are not going to make any signings that will catapault us into top 4 contention imo. Given that, those saying wait until the new manager in the summer as he will need to assess the squad and make changes should remember that TS has an 18-month contract and is probably cheap, so unless we flirt with relegation I don't think Levy will can him. Secondly, it would seem that any new manager that Levy appoints has to accept no money for signings until they have proved themselves, or in other words Levy can sell some assets to fund a zero-spend transfer window. And finally, no CL next season must mean our better players being unsettled and wanting away, the only thing stopping them will be Levy's pricing regime so we may have a chance to see the impact of unsettled players on our team after all.. By the way Coopsie, I don't know your sexual fantasies (nor do I want to!) but Berbatov playing with Solduddo supported by Lame-ella and Eriksun doesn't sound sexual to me...more like a nightmare...as someone observed above we would have to buy-in the world supply of dummies for Berba to spit-out!

Cider- what fantastic things? taken us from mid table to mid table (that's where we're heading) with an emergency manager (Arry) accidentally taking us to CL-yet not investing once we got there! we have a 70m debt paying 6m interest -yet made c30m profit on transfers in 3 years (ie NOT re-invested in the team), no new stadium and when we do we'll have to pay it off for a generation, Levy pays himself one of the highest salaries in the PL etc etc...you seem blind to their biz model....you are like the (I'll repeat this one as I like it) optimist that fell off a tall building, as he passed every window on the way down people heard him say...'so far, so good'....we fell off the building 3 years ago....c'mon wake up this lot are screwing us!

Tottenham's Lewis Holtby keen on Fulham switch that could pave way for Dimitar Berbatov return Fulham can free up cash for Lewis Holtby's wages and could save themselves paying a loan fee by allowing Dimitar Berbatov to return to Spurs for the final five months of his contract

Lewis Holtby is interested in a pre-transfer deadline move to Fulham that could pave the way for Dimitar Berbatov returning to Tottenhamuntil the end of the season.

Fulham are willing to let on-loan Adel Taarabt make a shock permanent switch to AC Milan, which would allow the club to take another domestic loan before this transfer window shuts.

Tottenham midfielder Holtby is high on Fulham's list of midfield targets and the German international has not ruled out the possibility of making a temporary move across London.

It is understood Spurs have been demanding any club that takes Holtby covers his entire £75,000-a-week wages, which has put some suitors off.

But Fulham can free up cash for Holtby's wages and could save themselves paying a loan fee by allowing Berbatov to return to Spurs for the final five months of his contract.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is interested in a cut-price deal to re-sign Berbatov until the end of the season, with Jermain Defoe due to move to Toronto FC next month.

Levy will have to agree to take over Berbatov's £80,000-a-week Fulham wages to take the 32-year-old back to White Hart Lane and it is understood the Bulgarian is interested in the prospect.

Fulham could replace Berbatov with Olympiakos striker Konstantinos Mitroglou, who is valued at more than £12m.

Holtby's former club Shalke have shown an interest in re-signing the 23-year-old, along with Borussia Dortmund, Stoke and Aston Villa.

On transfers, it only makes sense to sell those players that do not fit in to the plans of Tim Sherwood. Matters not what I think. He is the one who will select players or leave them to just practice. If Capoue, Holtby, Sigurdsson and others are "surplus" in Tim's eyes, sell now for a profit and get the wages off the expense list. Further, any players who are not happy should be at the head of the queue. Reality is, half of this squad was brought in and sold on what AVB was building. That is now gone, so good luck getting them happy again.

As for the balance of players, well it really depends where we finish. If we are in Europe (even if not CL), I still believe we will hold on to the majority of the players. Those who will want out for greener pastures would have gone regardless of CL. It's money that is driving it and on that, we just cannot compete until revenues go up accordingly.

Yesterday was another poor day at the office, but was just one game. 15 games remain. 4 wins off the top or second is likely a bridge too far. The three wins out of third would take some doing. But then, 4 points out of third is amply doable, so it all remains to be played for. Next three match days see City play Chelsea, Liverpool play Arsenal, Us play Everton and United play Arsenal. The results of these games will greatly shape what can or cannot be achieved. Currently, there are 4 teams in the mix for fourth.

Personally, I don't see how we are going to succeed while being outchanced hugely in every game. Yes, we got a raw deal on the penalty, but, anyone who watched the game saw that they had 9 quality goal scoring chances to our 2. Two goalline saves by Lloris, another by Rose and a post saved lots of blushes. Under Sherwood our record is quite good in the league. The play however has been controlled by the opposition and we have been counting on the opposition to waste their chances while we convert most of ours. Another very winnable game on the weekend. Any result other than a win will mean we need others to drop the ball for us to be in the mix. As for Europa, there is no way in Hades with poor defensive play that we will succeed. It's either CL, or this season will be an entire disaster. The walls will have been blown off the barn. Closing the door will not stop the exodus. Donkeys and goats will remain though. COYS

Slurms, while a great idea, the fact is it will be a never-ending saga. Regardless of who the owner is, every decision has supporters and naysayers. New owners may well get the stadium built quicker as they could do it out of pocket, but the reality is that that only increases revenues to a point (compare our gates to Arsenal's for the last 4 or 5 reported periods and you'll see what I mean). FFPR, assuming they will be enforced, do limit how much, above and beyond revenues one may spend, so the idea that some rich dude is going to stroll in and start buying 70M players and paying them 15M GBP per year is perhaops a bit OTT. We operate, more or less, within our means. That is a good thing as it means we are, money wise, well run. That is also a bad thing as it limits us as it takes more to be successful in today's game. Such is Spurs. Levy was hoping for 20M for kit sponsorhip across all competitions. It looks like it is 12M and it is the ugliest option out there. So it goes at Spurs. Not perfect. Lots could be done better. Even more could be done worse. If they would just name people they trust, allow them to do their job while they focus on the money side of things, Spurs would be better off.

So, I ask you all, when has it ever been easy to be a Spurs fan? COYS

Seb...Whilst there are more pressing areas that need addressing agreed, do you not think we are lacking a true Left Winger. One who can score and Assist goals?.

Michael Bridge (a journo at Sky Sports and spurs fan) said this on Gary Glitter (twitter):

'Sources tell me Spurs are trying to get at least one in'

Someone assumed it was Berbatov and he replied:

'He wasn't who I was talking about. Will be revealed soon.'........

So?
coopsieyid
Sebastan, if it's any consolation, we have not yet spent the 30-35M extra PL TV money, have a 7M net transfer balance and seem likely to add to that sum. 50-70M that can be spent next season without needing any sales to fund. Now, will they do it, and if yes, for whom will the players be purchased? Back to tears. That's so Spurs it's not even funny. Makes the beer seem to go further though because we certainly do cry an awful lot in our beer. COYS

Ledgespur, the FFP regs are not worth the paper they are written on, but Abramovitch is not the main contender for breaking them, compared to the Mansours and the owners of PSG and Monaco he is a lot closer to meeting the criteria. Monaco get 12-14,000 for home games and look at their spends on fees and wages.
Frank
According to the Liverpool Echo, Lewis Holtby's move to Fulham will be on a permanent transfer, not on loan. They say that the fee will be just £5m.

coopsieyid
@Frank, we will never be able to compete with that and you can be sure Blatter has no intention of upsetting the money bags, as he gets his well stuffed. I do think we will reap rewards with our new training ground etc. with youth, and I would see Tim Sherwood as an integral part of the youth system...it's a pity we appointed him as when this ends badly he won't go back to that set up.
ledgespur
We were linked with/after, that Kacaniklic (spelling?) a while back. He's Fulham and left mid and seems like the type of calibre player we'd get.. Possibly links with the Michael Bridge stuff? Not to mention the Holtby stuff.
coopsieyid
For Tim Sherwood to say "we are unlikely to get anybody in, I'm happy with the squad I've got" is totally bazaar. Until you have a squad as good as the best in the league you should never be happy or satisfied with what you have, especially after last night's humbling defeat. A blind man on a galloping horse can see we are short up front, at LB, and at CB. I am not saying that we could have, or should have, got them all this window, but it can't be true to say we don't need any players, as well as we need to be ruthless in blowing several non contributors out, no matter how recently they came, or how much they cost.
Frank
Coops, thats interesting....could it be my man Weimann??? (I know going on now about it) just love his style...covers every blade of grass, but not in a productive way.

ledgespur, it all depends how the numbers pan out. Last reprted season was 2011-2012 and Chelsea showed a 4M loss which would probably not offend the rules of FFP. Now whether all that they deem appropriate income are in fact allowable could be a whole other kettle of fish. We'll know more by the summer. There is no way PSG or Monaco can possibly be in line with FFPR. Will they be excluded from Europe next year? Madrid and Barca are both being investigated about the Neymar and bale deals which both appear to have flaunted the rules? Are any of the Italian teams above board? Is UEFA? It will be an interesting summer. I expect a great deal of disappointment from anyone expecting there to be any fairness, but I will wait and see in the hopes that the powers that be care about the integrity of the game. I only snickered twice, so I'm getting better. COYS

Coopsie, I too appreciate the effort and the articles. At least Pele is consistent, as are others on here, so, don't worry, be happy. Open another wobbly pop. Look for more transfer possibilities. I presume there will be a few outs, Gomes and BAE will run down their contracts and be gone in the summer, and any coming in will have minimal financial commitment (term and/or wages). Bebratov is at the end of his contract. Weiman is inexpensive (though why we'd do that and not just go all in for the far superiour Benteke- every stat is far and away better - other than German speaking), the balance seem average players. This is why I still don't get meddling with AVB. He was not an obstacle to players signing, in fact, it would seem, he had some pull. Who wants to play for Sherwood? Will he be here next year? If not, who will be? Will we be in Europe? Will Jan, Sandro, Hugo and others stay? There is far too much uncertainty to get anyone to come in and commit to "whatever". Would Sherwood even play Berbatov? Is Benteleb a fixture in MF? I am completely at a loss when I try and sort out this plan. It just keeps looking like there is no plan. COYS
peterballb
shedboy2, go ahead, Make My Day. No seriously, we can still respectfully debate. COYS

coops- Hope Holtby is loan and not permanent, cannot believe he would go to a struggling club either, when everything could change in the summer at Spurs. What if we get a new manager in and he likes him, he could be playing for a team fighting for top four not a team fighting for relegation. Seems bizarre we would sell so soon with so much uncertainty at the club and that he would choose a club that in a dog fight long term. Hmm I await until I hear what is official.

As for your outburst, your only human, just ignore and be at peace, no one and nothing is worth it.
WorldPeace
peterballb-good comments and I agree. We have become a club that is now full of uncertainty and players are not daft, if we get any one it will be last minute when players come because we are second option or because they get a good pay deal. I love my club would even I if a professional player would think twice about coming at this point in time, players have to make decisions that are difficult, everything can change so quickly in football, so when I club is full of so much instability and uncertainty it has little purchasing power when it comes to top players.

If it is true re Holtby going permanent to Fulham, this shows you that things are not right, choosing Fulham over potential future with us is strange one. What happens if Fulham get relegated, Holtby should stay and go out on loan, but if he is seeing something behind the doors, like Defoe that are getting them to make such decisions? Is this why we have had a few whispers from players wanting out, what is the real atmosphere and believes behind closed doors? My guess unease, p$$$$ed off and little direction and plan.

These article you do are the best imo it makes TW's much more interesting, thanks, you are appreciated.
WorldPeace
How many players are we linked with lol http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/tottenham-hotspur/geruechte/verein_148.html
WorldPeace
WorldPeace, if Holtby is sold, I presume it frees up wages and nets us some coin on the sale. I presume there would be some further funds for sell on, so, if he plays well, we can either get him back cheaper than anyone else (Caulker) or we bag more money for a player who is in demand but does not suit our needs. Sandro, Paulinho, Capoue, Dembele, Benteleb, Carroll, Eriksen. Only 2, perhaps 3 can get in every game. Holtby and Sigurdsson need to play and will not do so on a regular basis at Spurs. Sale is the only way to go at this point. A loan would just serve to get more money on an eventual sale in 6 months. I like him. That said, he'd rarely start in my books. COYS
peterballb
On a slightly different subject does anyone have any up-dates on the fitness on the missing players and if any will be ready for the Hull match. Also what is meant to be wrong with Lamela. We badly need Verts and Paulinho back in first team. I saw a few players played in a closed door match the other day and was surprised that none made the bench yesterday.

Thoughts on the info from The Journalist, and us looking for loans (in & out)....

I'm thinking Villa may be interested in Naughton.

Fulham in for Holtby

Everton in for Chadli

Italians still in for Capoue, in a case of who blinks first

I think clubs may be in for Kane too but on lower level maybe championship, and all depending upon whether we bring in Berbatov..
coopsieyid
Mitroglou having medical with Fulham.

Dimi edges closer ???????

WorldPeace, I too hope that if Holtby's off, that it's on loan. Lewis may well just want regular football and/or is thinking about Brazil and a world cup place. A struggle with Fulham may do him the world of good.
MAN ON!
@Peter, It will be an interesting Summer. Madrid and Barca will never be held accountable for anything, no matter the case. Blatter has more or less stated in the past that he is in a big comfy bed with them.

PSG and Monaco are just ridiculous, I mean hiome game crowds of 14,000?? Come on! I don't think FFP will ever get off the ground the way it was meant to as money sadly runs the game. You grease enough hands and problems up and vanish like a fart in a gale force.

I wonder would our Club have the same heart if we all of a sudden got a free run at Uncle Joes cheque book? Would we be the same? I don't think so if I'm honest. I think we would have a whole new fan base and wouldn't feel special as a fan anymore.
ledgespur
coops-if we get berby do you think he will play? Secondly, would he want to come if he isn't guaranteed a starting place? Thirdly, if he comes on the notion of playing then that would mean a 4 4 2 and so who falls out of favour? If Soldado is going to be third choice with Ade and Berby starters then what does that say about Soldado and all the money we paid, and who gives way when we go back to 4 4 2, Eriksen? or a CM? I just find ti hard to believe Berby would come to us if he wasn't guaranteed to be a starter, why would he, if if he is guaranteed to start then it has a knock of affect of how we play 4 4 2 and who gets dropped. Has this all been thought through?
WorldPeace
Guys, when I said "I've had enough now", I didn't mean of the site. I meant I've had enough of that pillock hijacking & ruining EVERY article that's submitted. NOTHING stops him from submitting his own daily article, he just seems to get some sort of kick out of ruining the work/effort of others. Then I noticed the other night that we have 2 members who are actually encouraging him, telling him how funny they find his posts & how they hope he continues. What a shame! I guess they got the "spice" that they wanted, but I for one am pi$$ed off with his incessant spouting of shat!!
coopsieyid
Cider - YEP, I've had the same thought, re Arseanal getting Berbatov. To be honest, his intelligence, along with the ability of Giroud & Cazorla etc, would be IMMENSE, in my opinion.
coopsieyid
ledgespur, I am with you 100% on that one. We are far better off growing organically and I think the game plan is the correct one, although the meddling and the lack of haste on the stadium do have me thinking that it could be so much better. It is not impossible to compete and win, but it requires so much more to go right. There is no buying your way out of problems when you won't spend beyond your means. A squad of 20-22 with support from an excellent developmental squad, can be done, but it has to be a holistic approach. Everything at Spurs always seems disjointed. Not just under ENIC. This has been going on so long as I became interested in the off field shenanigans. Solution? I haven't got one with the pieces we currently have in place. COYS

Pele10, you DO make a fair few valid point, OK. BUT you just keep harping on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on (you getting the picture yet?) and on about the same old same old same old same old same old thing ALL the time ad nauseum. It gets very wearisome having read through the first couple of lines or so just to find out it's yet another personal attack/rant on our owners. As someone on here has already said, you are treading the fine line which is libel. Carry on like this and you may well find yourself up against those multi millions in court. Apart from that, you are such a boring $h1te. Mend the bloody record mate and someone might listen. You are making a laughing stock of yourself by going on like this.
chrishove123
Well what a roller coaster of a season and here we are again, transfer window deadline.

I have little energy to get too wrapped up in what is happening this season, I am just letting it go on and seeing what the outcome will be.

As for the TW, well I feel we shouldn't make too many decisions but understand players want to play. I would go with the idea of loans were appropriate and if I had to ask for a player or two it would be a LB minimum. However, looking at coopsieyid articles we don't seem to be in for a LB but who knows what will happen, this season could not have been predicted. I have no idea how it will all pan out but I do hope we keep our players.

That's it, I'm going to hijack every article with wobbly pop talk. I needed something very dark and very strong last night. This evening I think I'll have a blonde, and then a wobbly pop. COYS
peterballb
WP - The only answer I can come up with for you = Berba may, unsurprisingly, prefer to come to a club that is trying to qualify for European football in some form, rather than 'fight' in a relegation scrap. I think it's pretty cut & dry, to believe that he is most certainly NOT the sort of player for a relegation scrap, he simply doesn't have the fight for such a thing. Also, I imagine he knows full well, even at 33 years of age, that he's better than every bloody player that Fulham have at their disposal. Maybe one last opportunity (in the PL) to play alongside some good quality players is an attraction for him?
coopsieyid
Hello thfan, how's you, your health, your family and, of course, that lovely Grandson of yours? :-)

We get Berba and he will cost us 1 Million. If we can get him for that I'd say go for it. He has a great footballing brain, Berba, Eriksen and Pauli pulling the strings. Sounds good to me.
chrishove123
WP - I just came across a post elsewhere that perfectly sums up my opinion about Berbatov (sort of echoes what I said, too)

"The good news is we aren't fighting relegation so we can afford to have a luxury player. Berba is the king of the flat track bullies so if we only use him to put the European/***** teams to the sword then I'm happy."

And then came the Assumptions.
And the Assumptions were without form.
And the Plan was without substance.
And darkness was upon the face of the Players.
And they spoke among themselves, saying,
"It is a crock of *****, and it stinks."
And the players went unto their captain and said,
"It is a pail of dung, and we can't live with the smell.
And the captain went unto the manager, saying,
"It is the container of the excrements, and it is very strong,
such that none may abide by it."
And the manager went unto their directors, saying,
"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength."
And the Directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another,
"It promotes growth, and it is very powerful."
And then Levy went to Lewis, saying unto him,
"This new plan will actively promote the growth and vigor of the Club with very powerful effects."
And Lewis looked upon the Plan and saw that it was good.
And the Plan became Policy.
And that is how ***** happens.

Why Nani or Koplyenko? We need to get playing time for Townsend, Chadli, Lamela,Lennon, Eriksen, Soldado and Adebayor. 3 or 4 of them will start each game. We don't need to add more players to the mix until we know what we have in the others. If we bring in Berbatov and Nani, surely it's to play them. As of Sunday we will have 16 games remaining (at least), 27 at most if we get to the Europa finals in 15 or so weeks. To buy a player to take a spot going forward seems counter-productive to seeing what we have when all are back healthy. COYS

FFS.............

Barry (camper than a field full of tents) Silkman, on Talksheit, has just said he's working on a £15m-20m transfer that should be completed tomorrow.

No mention of what team.

Also reckons their could be up to 10 loan deals also completed by tomorrow.
coopsieyid
Cider - very honest post re ENIC, and I totally get you. Enough of that topic now.

Why are we constantly linked with players who play in positions we don't need, where are the LB, GK links?
yiddyboy
chrishove123 I still don't get it. Unless chadli would be going out (on loan) why would we need a left midfielder? we have chadli, townsend, lamela, eriksen who can play there. I don't get it. Our priorities should be 1. left back 2. replacement for defoe
logos8
Baines has signed a new contract and Shaw is priced at about 30 million.
MAN ON!
if it's to prevent liverpool from improving, then I do get it but we are still stacking up midfielders like it's a party, and a lot of them will just warm the bench.

Silkman - http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/barry-silkman-management-ltd-/details/berater_253.html

the list of players he represents on transfermarket, sure as heck doesn't help lol

RyanTegan just said that the deal Silkman is working on is Zouma to Chel$ki
coopsieyid
or maybe we are going to start playing 3-2-4-1 just so we could give game time to all our midfielders.
logos8
of course I am not being serious
logos8
…..more like 1-9-1..
MAN ON!
logos...Whilst other areas are more pressing of that i'm sure all agree. Konoplyanka would be the best player on the LW ahead of all those mentioned. If we signed him, i think we could say that the LW slot is his. A position that has seen countless different players have to play this season when not being their best position. Whole Left side from back to front has been dis-jointed and weak this season IMO.
Cider spurs
cider. why didn't we go for him in the summer when our 1st priority with the bale money should have been to replace bale... we bough eriksen and chadli and lamela. Surely chadli should be on his way out if konoplyanka is coming in. He isn't playing anyway. My point is, we have too many midfielders that want to play and won't be able too. it's a problem that needs to be sorted for the sake of the dressing room morale.a lot of unhappy players will make our job harder
logos8
sell soldado rent a sainsbury shopping trolly for £1 and if you take it back you get your money back. could be on ITK Asda_trolly_man
tophobunty1882
can you all remember how 90% of peops on here were euphoric on here to virtual hysteria as we did deal after deal buying those 7 in the summer window?
tophobunty1882
Cider & Logos - IF (and it's a big IF) we get Konoplyanka then it would surely mean that Chadli and Soggyone will be shipped out, either on loan or permanently. Neither of them are likely to get anywhere near our best 15. If we manage to do that I wouldn't be too upset.
SpuriousLife
Spurious..I think that would most probably be about the jist of it. 2 average?, players out 1 top talent in.
Cider spurs
tophobunty1882 I remember and I am still excited about them probably because I am still in fantasy land hoping that soldado, lamela, eriksen, paulinho will win us a trophy next season.
logos8
To be fair after the Chadli and soldado deals you can't blame the spurs board for being very nervous about entering the transfer market again!
Slurms McKenzie
Topho I can't decide which was more epic, the seven signings or the systematic approach to destroying their football careers that the Spurs team management then took! AVB, easy as 123!
Slurms McKenzie
Spurious doubt we will sign him unless they sell Italian designer suits and or offer bungolinis in Dnipropetrovsk
tophobunty1882
topho..I remember i was one of them. Not quite hysteria on my part, but i was happy with the signings. Some are now starting to show signs of ability, some have failed to impress, some have had no gametime as of yet or been hampered by injuries. Mixed bag really, still, that's the way it is for All teams. Because of the amount of signings at once, i suppose our dealings are scrutinised all the more. Torres, Schevchenko, Lukaku at Chelsea spring to mind. i'm including Lukaku because many rate him, myself included, but we only know he is good because he has had gametime albeit not at Chelsea, Lamela could be as good, Capoue too. Who know's so little gametime. The only one at present i have serious concerns about is Chadli, and as luck would have it he was the cheapest. Soldado we'll leave until another day, for i know your opinion, and i think you know mine.
Cider spurs
slurms i think it was the ideal combination to create a disaster, we might yet stay just about clear of a full on disaster.....Cider to me it was obvious back then it was stupid and smelt a bit, the ones that would have a chance to pay back looked obvious then and do now, the ones that seemed like a massive dose of complete and utter stupidity look just that now....to me it was a clear which ones would make it and were good value for money and equally or even more clear those that were huge risks....only one was i not sure on but that was more because I wasn't sure he was the type of player we really needed not that he clearly wouldn't make it...if only I knew there would be 6 others coming plus two back on loan i might not have been concerned about him as a fit to a need. Twas a farce and then AVB simply fed into the farce, Sugar got it right...actually a small number of others got it right on here.

If as rumour says Livermore has been recalled it must mean Capoue is off....and sherwood and co have not got a clue...
shedboy2
Livermore back? What does that mean? Sell Holtby for 5mil. Capoue for 12 to Napoli. Replacements: Bentaleb and Livermore and with the money land Konoplyanka ? Levy is playing football manager again
logos8
well you would know wouldn't you shed
tophobunty1882
Cider i think you are right mate, that is tehe way it is with most teams. I remember a very good chat i had on here with BIG C (FANNY) pre-window, when we discussed that we sort of felt we were about 50/50 on deals and one of the things we both thought would be a great step forward was to improve this ratio. I guess buying 7 was a very tough way to start and not the ideal way to move forward, when it was clear all had zero prem experience it was always going to be tough on improving that ratio. The thing that frustrates me is that to me it seemed to obvious which ones were likely to succeed and which would struggle, that has played out 100%, why if it was easy to me would our club punt over 60 million on players who always looked a huge risk? I really struggle with that.
tophobunty1882
than not then. sorry

shedboy2 was arguing with me before avb got sacked that we were actually stronger then last season. Now he is on the "doom and gloom / levy hasn't got a clue" bandwagon

Thanks for the D-Day article Coops. Much appreciated and almost helps you overcome the nightmares from last nite!. As for Konoplyanka link.. Well if I were him and had to choose between us 'Pool, it doesn't even need a consideration. Liverpool it will be. What have we to offer a new recruit....... A very unstable regime, A manager who is not a manager (by qualifications), Players constantly being played out of position, the club has no long term plan (project), new recruits take longer than usual to gel, if the manager does not know you, the kids will take priority over your international calibre and lastly, we are likely to get another manager in Summer, so you may not figure in his plans. On the plus side, we are in London!
Critical_Spur
If we sell Caps and bring back Livermore then I really do not understand what is going on upstairs. Livermore is up there with JJ and Siggy in terms of waste of space. Surely this is a wind up.
nothappyharry
Sell Chadli
T.H.F.Chris
I heard Sherwood said 'bring that short haired guy back from Hull' thinking we'd sold Livermore and loaned Hudd.
T.H.F.Chris
Yes, and had Sandro been back earlier, Lennon not gotten injured, Adebayor's brother not died, Kaboul been available as expected, and Rose not gotten injured, perhaps the new players would have been able to bed in without just being thrown in there. You play the hand you are dealt. To date, the XI I would suggest are our best team have not been available. Fact is new coach and new style of ay means it is all to do again. Chiriches is not a left-sided back. Eriksen is not a winger. Players are still playing out of position and yet people slag them off as not good enough. Soldado had no service. Others were too busy shooting from 30 yards out. Lennon has been a huge difference. Eriksen getting fit has helped too. As has Ade. Not been an ideal season. Was always going to take time. COUS
peterballb
Livermore back ha ha ha ha ! ffs.
topspur53
Peter I don't think having everyone fit from the start would have made any difference mate, AVB obviously didn't have a clue in the end and he contributed to buying the wrong players. Look at Chadli, another Siggurson but not as good. Vlad, good but not top 4, Lamela too lite weight. We should have bought 3 tops class expensive players?
T.H.F.Chris
THF ... I agree, but only in hindsight, which gives me an unfair advantage over the decision makers at the time!
Geofspurs
Anyone we buy now or in the summer, apart from Berbatov, has to be a world class player ... nothing else will do!
Geofspurs
So I'm going to give Tim and Spurs the benefit of the doubt with Livermore. This comment is interesting "I’ve been happy playing my football with Hull and if the two clubs could sort something out I’d be more than happy to look at it.” Because it's the Daily Fail it's possible they took a quote from 2 months ago and cobbled it together with him coming back to Spurs yesterday. However, my conspiracy theory is that Spurs have a permanent offer on the table from another club and are trying to force Hull's hand to match it. Don't be surprised if he's not back at Hull by the end of the day or somewhere like Baggies or Swansea.
muttley
If we really are recalling Jake Livermore, then I will lose any faith I have left on TS. Picture this. We're supposedly negotiating getting rid of Holtby and Capoue but we are calling back Livermore. Honestly, you cannot make this up!
Madaboutspurs
Mad, persective is needed with respect to Holtby, Capoue & Livermore. Capoue & Holtby could be individually better players than Livermore. But the point is this .

In a fit squad, our midfield options means both Capoue & Holtby are never starters. Likes of Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele are above them. Problem was we bought too many CMs & too few defenders. Squad is imbalanced.

Thing is, do we want to have a sulky Capoue who would be squad player or Livermore who could be happy with a squad role ?

Also, Livermore has certainly improved since summer. He has been cornerstone of Hull campaign.

Only thing that stinks is apparent lack of planning when it comes to squad balance. Baldini, AVB & Levy are responsible for it.
sydqcb5
Hmm, good perspective there syd, as usual. Point taken. We'll be up at 2 am watching the game on Sunday am I guess.
Madaboutspurs
Morning!...Not read the article as of yet(off to work) but SSN stating Utd interested in Townsend. Talk of him valued at £8 million last season, now worth triple that. Anyway off to work, early lunchtime finish. Lunchtime drinks with friends and a late afternoon return to VS. Hope there is some good gossip to return to. I think Berb is a cert, Holtby a former player, no Konoplyanka, no Nani, and wait for it.....NO LB!. Have a good un' lads n lasses...catch you later.
Cider spurs
Lol the meltdown on twitter was sensational last night re Livermore. Apparently u cannot recall the loan unless under special circumstances. Holtby will only be on loan with no option to buy. It will be an interesting day with maybe a young striker and a LB coming in. My prediction is Capoue stays and we get 2 in and maybe Berbatoss on loan.
Mix26
it is alarming that there has been no indication of LB incoming! This surely has to be priority as Rose is simply not good enough. Still feel Benni is a better option and cannot understand why he has not been recalled?! Not sure we need anything else...we just need to get this squad playing as a team!
jhbspur
Jhbspur it's certainly evident that Rose is not good enough, maybe we he gets sold and we bring in a new LB but Rose would have featured a lot under Tim so I doubt Tim would sell
Mix26
Peterballb - I understand you post regarding playing players out of position but looking at it from another angle, playing Verts at left back before Fryers whilst Rose was injured surely means that Fryers isn't good enough. Why did we buy Fryers then?

sydqcb5 - AVB is not responsible for anything, he is no longer at the club so is only a scapegoat for those who are at the club.
yiddyboy
How about Townsend to United in exchange for Buttner and 10m?

tophobunty1882
We CANNOT let Townsend go anywhere, let alone United. Our left hand side is very, very, very weak so we think it's a good idea to let Townsend, the only truly fast paced, left footed winger who can beat a defender for sheer pace and trickery and causes panic amongst opposition defenders, leave? Go figure?! Played on the left Townsend will become a real gem for us. Selling him now will be a massive mistake. I sincerely hope that this is just the usual media nonsense. It bloody better be.
SpuriousLife
How about I start with a bit of ITK from the stadium info guy :-).

My view for what it's worth is that is optimistic.
The redesign of the stadium is better than I expected. Will be much better than the emirates for the features fans appreciate........

That is NOT an invitation for the resident plank to get stuck into our owners again. You already know about the Archway Steel people holding up everything, I shared this info more because of the redesign info & the bit about Levy being less withdrawn when stating about when work will begin. All sounds positive to me!!
coopsieyid
Topho - Good morning, I'm thinking Townsend is worth 14m as he was 8m last time round and is now full international plus its January and Buttner about 4m. Fair evalution or would you see it different?
yiddyboy
well at least top 14 will be secure now with Livermore back, wonder if they will sell him to someone before deadline?
tophobunty1882
Goal believe Tottenham have pulled out the race for Konoplyanka after Tim Sherwood expressed his doubts on the player. #THFC

I'm not totally sold on the credibility of goal but if this was true I'd be pi**ed off. Doubts over Konoplyanka when you had to play Siggy in the LWF role against City? So we pulled out because Tim had doubts? The same guy who starts without a Dmf against Arsenal and City ?

I can't take this anymore, IF this is true.
coopsieyid
Coopsie - add to that the rumour that the only 'real' pacey, left sided winger we have at the club Andros Townsend is apparently on United's radar and it gets even more ridiculous. If half the rumours turn out to be true (Livermore, Townsend, Capoue, Holtby etc.) we will be a massive laughing stock by 11pm tonight. I wil be royally pi**ed off.

coopsieyid
I doubt the stuff with Tim having doubts over the player has any legitimacy, but if it does, this is like a carbon copy of Suarez all over again...

We're an attractive proposition, could get him, our new English manager doesn't like him, pass on him, he goes to Liverpool and carries their team.
coopsieyid
From 10.40 last night

Tony Barrett @TonyBarretTimes
Liverpool still in talks with Dnipro for Konoplyanka but no breakthrough yet. Looks set to go down to the wire.
coopsieyid
According to the Daily Fail he wants £100k a week. That'll be us out the running if true, and maybe even Liverpoo too. That's a huge request from somebody who is surely all too aware of how his fellow Ukranians have done in the PL in the past (apart from Kanchelskis). Shehvchenko, Rebrov, wasn't exactly a brilliant success for either of them, was it? I think he'd be looking at maybe £60k p/w and then getting an improved contract if he performs.
coopsieyid
This from a Liverpoo ITK.....

"Were willing to pay his wages as we have loads of room after getting rid of all the high earners who don't provide value for it (bar Johnson). We were willing to give Suarez £200,000pw so wages ain't the problem. Thats done.

The issue is fee and structure of fee.

Ayre is still there and its going down to the wire for us anyway it seems. Going to be touch and go coz its a long flight and he needs a medical and his papers sorting too. He may need a work permit too, I dunno."..............

Is anyone else left with a 'dirty' feeling about Berbatov coming back? The man was class for us but he behaved like a whore when he wanted out. Like a desperate stupid cuckolded husband we now seem to want him back. Imagine your beautiful wife leaving you in her peak years at the height of her beauty for a better looking man with whom she has kids and a great time. She then gets dumped by the other man when her looks start to fade and she knocks on your door, carrying all her baggage, asking to come back. That's how it feels with Berbatov to me. At 33 what can he really bring to the table at a club with top 4 pretensions? There must be better and younger out there. It strikes me as a lazy and unambitious signing if it happens.
SpuriousLife
LOL, LOVING the gossip that emerged last night. So we are going to jettison Holtby and Capoue, for Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll? Does anyone think that makes us more likely to finish in the top 4? We've got Tim Allardyce in charge lol

The Livermore stuff must be rubbish. I mean come on, Livermore over Capoue or Holtby. Really? Really, really? Please I think I'm going to cry! Sherwood isn't that stupid. Levy can't be that stupid either surely? And what has happened to Baldini? Where is he and what is he doing? If we ship out a couple of 'his' signings today and bring back Livermore then surely we don't need a DOF. What we'll need is a vet to look after all of the donkeys we'll have and an abattoir to deal with the consequences of the 'quality' we'll have added to the squad!

Apparently (and after whoring other sites) the rules state '53.2.2 Subject to the proviso that the duration of a Standard Loan must be the time between two Transfer Windows, Standard Loans can be for half a Season or a full Season. Any recall clause requiring the early termination of a Standard Loan can only be included in a full Season Standard Loan and this can only be activated during the second (January) Transfer Window. Any other early termination of a Standard Loan must be by way of a mutual agreement in writing (including by way of a recall clause within the Standard Loan Agreement) between both Clubs and the Player but can only be completed after the expiry of 28 days and only during a Transfer Window (but subject to Regulation 53.2.3).

The only way I would let Townsend go is if they offered us Buttner/Evra and Hernandez/Welbeck in exchange. Evra might see linking up with Lloris as a good move before the World Cup and surely their strikers will see limited game time with the arrival of Mata and fit again Rooney and Van Persie?

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott to see out remaining six months of contract at the Etihad
Joleon Lescott is set to stay at Manchester City and see out the remaining six months of his contract at the Etihad.

Lescott explored the possibility of leaving this month to play more football in a last bid to force his way into England's World Cup squad.

City were prepared to let him go and Besiktas, West Ham and Fulham all showed interest.

Tottenham were also linked with a move for the former Everton defender.

However the centre-half has decided to stay at City until the summer when he will leave on a free transfer.

Although the 31-year-old has made just seven Premier League starts, he has played five times in the cups this season and could end the campaign with a couple more winners' medals as the Blues chase the quadruple.

SSNews outside the training ground report, Tim's happy with the squad any movement would see out's rather then in's holtby and capoue most likely, they had a car set up, but the windows would not go down, so the interview was conducted through glass, SSN said well i think that's what he said, he kept saying apples and pears and frog and toad, were do i find them?

BUT City might be signing Eliaquim Mangala from Porto today. If so there is a real possibility that Lescott is going to be allowed to leave. Would be a good signing and follows the 'English' Mandate that TS has apparently laid out.
coopsieyid
Sherwood has no sway on the ins and outs in this window, this is happening above his head due to him being a temp, he is comfortable within that , but want a genuine stay if he is kept on past the end of the season, I would say that is fair and sensible all round.

Maybe this'll shut up the bloody bickering about Townsend, not that I'm surprised it's going on!!

On the fighting cock podcast Troy stated that he and Andros believe he's worth between £8-£12 million, their valuation will be in line with the clubs.... Troy is Townsend's dad & also acts as his agent in some capacity. I feel he knows more about his sons/clients value than anyone on here does.
coopsieyid
The Guardian are also now saying that Berbatov is off to Monaco
coopsieyid
Regarding this Konoplyanka deal, let Liverpool have him. Never bloody heard of the guy until yesterday and for £15m we could buy a proven premiership player. We have Townsend, Lennon, Chadli, Lamela who COULD all play wide left and although a true winger wouldn’t go amiss it’s certainly not a priority. Apart from Holtby and Capoue I can’t see any other business today. TS has pretty much said so.

Another thing, we have already conceded more goals at home at this point than we did all last season. Why the phuck are we not looking at strengthening our defence?? I mean Dawson seem like a top bloke but he just isn’t good enough. Rose, Not good enough. Walker, just a suicide player. We are leaking goals every game yet nobody seems to be doing anything about it. Ok we could play Vlad and Vertonghen in the middle, but couldn’t every game. BIG BIG Concern for me.
hudderspur
Looks like Lewis on loan to Fulham is going to be the height of it.

Personally I think we're taking a huge risk in not bringing in another forward option. An injury to Adebayor and its curtains for me.

Ages ago TS said no one would be coming in this window. I can't see the problem with that. There is no point getting new players in if TS isn't going to be here next season. So no one coming in all makes perfectly good sense to me.

Harr y-karri: Hang on, over £10m profit on transfers in the summer, another £9m this window (not including possible Holtby / Capoue) yet nobody as spurs thinks we need reinforcements despite already having four spankings and counting this season?? We are out of almost every cup competition and are clinging onto 5th spot having already sacked our manager and our “long term project” is in complete tatters. It’s not the lack of signings or the appointment if TS that bothers me, it’s the complete arrogance and naivety shown by THFC that we will just muddle on and things will work themselves out. Jeeez it’s the same every phucking year.

chrishove123 - no one coming in but it looks like one or two could be on the way out. If the board are using the excuse that Sherwood is only keeping the seat warm as the reason to not buy anyone in this window then surely the same should apply to outgoings also? Hudders makes a good point that if we sell Capoue and Holtby today and bring no one in we'll have made a net profit on transfers of approx £35m between the summer and this window. Not bad for the balance sheet. Bloody sheit for the possibility of us getting 4th.

Morning all, coops thanks for the hard work again, would have posted earlier but spent the morning reading every post so far. The one that stands out, and if there is any truth in it it will really p/$$ me off, is athletico going in for capoue. If there is truth, it's another case of a HUGE club wanting an international spurs player, when we won't play him and put a kid ahead of him! His quote that followed distressed me, second fiddle "this has never happened to me before"! We HAVE to keep these players and play them, and get TS to stop his yts selection process and formation models. Let's get a LB and be done with it!

See some good things have already happened for us lot today. I'm not miffed at Berbatov to Monaco either, following the money as per usual. But we still need striker cover and a LB. HOLTBY loan deal is a good one imo - he is a talent, german u21 captain, played a few good games and a few good goals, but also some poor games and not had a good enough run. So, in case he fulfils obvious potential, keep him, see how he does playing weekly in PL and then either keep or sell if no good. GLAD we did not sell this window. Disappointed if Capoue also goes now - we still have top 4 and Europa league, so strengthening needed - not weakening. If Holtby, Defoe & Capoue go with no reinforcements, a poor window for the team (just not for finances) :( STILL TIME - LEVY TIME :)

Oh the life of a Spurs supporter :-(...
coopsieyid
logos, Sherwoods treatment of Capoue has been terrible. Putting his agenda ahead of what is best for the club, plenty of time to ease in Bentaleb. As a French international he must feel humiliated, Would be surprised if he stays.

Oh well, we may as well enjoy something THFC related, The Kmita sisters.. Both plays for Spurs' Ladies 1st team and are in, well, "pretty" good shape

ItalianYiddo weather he goes or stays is up to Levy not to Capoue.

And if no one can know who will be our manager come next season, I am not sure Levy would want Capoue to go, just to appoint a new manager in the summer that would have loved to work with him.

While I agree that Sherwood will only be manager till the summer and money will not be spent, are we as a club meant to stand still and be happy to watch our side slip down the table. It does not make any sense to me and will be another window where the owners pocket money from net sales. If everyone strengthens and we weaken our squad then how much catch up will we need in the summer. We need to keep moving this team forward. If Sherwood is to stay as manager then why have the board not backed him. If a new manager does come in the summer then he is going to need a war chest. We are still in a position not to write the season off just yet.
nothappyharry
A good offer comes in, a player wants to go and Levy keeps him? That will be a first, logos.
ItalianYiddo
@chrishove....i think spurious's concerns are shared by many including me. On paper 3rd and 4th seem achievable. But on the field we have 1 point from 15 against top 4 sides with a goal difference of -17 in 5 games. Im sorry but that is not the form of a team that can finish 4th. And that is not being negative just simply acknowlidging the position we are currently in. 7 new players in (5 of which not playing regularly). 5 key players injured for almost 2 months. New manager half way through the season. Add all this up and why should we expect top 4?
jhbspur
coops-Mollie looks a bit like the girl from Coro not that I watch it lol slight resemblance.

Whoever, signs now I don't think will be eligible for tomorrow game, that's across the board, I think signings have to be made by 12.00 today, hence Holtby's went through and he can play tomorrow, he has no:10 shirt
WorldPeace
jhbspur-I agree, I think if we get fourth it is going to be a miracle. I personally predict this: City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Utd, Liverpool, us and Everton (same points).

New manager summer, and players to leave and players to come in and we stat again.
WorldPeace
ItalianYiddo there is a first for everything but if the offer is too good to refuse then I would accept it as good business as long as we use the money to strengthen ourselves at lb and upfront. If Levy doesn't do it then... although I like TS I must admit that the Capoue story is not pretty at all. We all said that he looked like a good buy after his first games before he got injured.
logos8
give Capoue a chance Tim ffs. Just watch Holby light up the league now, and make Tim look silly. get in a LB NOW!
topspur53
Chrishove - I didn't say we won't get 4th. I just think it will be very difficult for us to do so, particularly as our main rivals for 4th are strengthening in this window when we apparently are not. In fact we're shipping players out and not addressing our weaknesses at left back, right back and up front. Goals win games so either you have to score more than the opposition or concede less than them. We've not done either too well so far this season. If we don't improve in this window then I'm pretty sure that I won't be alone in thinking the top 4 will be a struggle. I know that we're only 3 points off 4th at the moment, could be 3 points of 3rd at the weekend etc but the reality is that Man City and Chelsea are only just now getting into their stride. Man Utd won't be as crap from now until May (Mata has joined and RvP and Rooney are coming back), Arsenal won't implode, Liverpool are getting better and adding quality to the squad and Everton are still right behind us. Not defeatist just realistic. Unless we show massive improvement in our play and our mentality from now until May we'll struggle to make 4th. With Sherwood in charge and no new players joining the squad (and perhaps Capoue leaving today also) do you think we'll be 4th best of the 7 clubs listed above?
SpuriousLife
logo - I don't think Levy will want any players to go and that he is stopping moves unless it becomes impossible (matter if that situation really exists) any way I think he will try and hold on to all players and then we will get another manager in the summer to assess, see what players buy into the next product under a new manager. I am pretty sure the players know this and they know that Sherwood is short term and I also think his inexperience will be seen on the training ground as well, you can only bluff so much before your limitations surface, no way can he hide his limitations from these international players they are too experienced not to see it.
WorldPeace
All we need really is a LB and a proven goal scorer but we can't get a proven goal scorer to come and sit on the bench especially when we have Ade who will be hard to drop whether he plays well or not, Soldado who cost so much, a new player will feel they are third choice, no proven goal scorer will come with that in mind and to come and be a starter will cause problems keeping everyone happy.

I would expect at least we should have got a LB. What is happening with Rose ban? When will we hear about that? before or after window closes?
WorldPeace
WP - I fear you are right. It is the quality of the players that have got us within 3 points of 4th, not the 2 managers. One was tactics obsessed and the other doesn't seem to have any. I will give TS credit though for rejuvenating Adebayor and simplifying the message to get out there and express themselves.
muttley
WE never strengthen in January to make that final push, we never learn, but this window is dictated that Levy doesn't want to spend on a rookie manager who will not be here in the summer. Only way Tim will get money is if sales are made but Levy will not want to sell players either, so it's all a no go imo unless Levy decides to let a player go and allows Tim to spend the money. I can't think of any players Levy will allow to go, I think the seven brought in were his and Baldini buys and he will not want them to leave that would make him admit he made a mistake and who is left, to sell really.
WorldPeace
we are 6th in the league when it comes to wage bill. Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, City all can offer more to their players. When it comes to team value we are somewhere around the same as Liverpool in 5th place. 4 other teams have more value in their squad on paper. I don't understand the moaning about the fact that we don't compete with the top clubs. We don't have the stadium to be in the same league with them. We are exactly where we should be. Anything below 6th would be underachievement. Anything above 5th would be overachieving. I guess most of the frustration around here comes from the fact that there was a lot of hope put on avb to be the guy to win us trophies just because falcao and hulk won him the treble with Porto.
logos8
IS IT telling for sherwood's future that we seem to be doing no business? We're still challenging for fourth and our manager gets to sign no new players in his first transfer window, what manager gets to sign no one in their first transfer window? Moyes only got Fellaini and look how their season has panned out.
coopsieyid
Sherwood has said there is zero percent chance of us signing anyone today
Lee Treend
All this proven goal scorer, wasn't Soldado a proven goal scorer for Valenica? Sometimes it doesn't work out for a player and a team, sometimes it takes time. What guarantee is there that any given proven goalscorer will come to Spurs and bag goals?

Tottenham Head Coach Tim Sherwood says there is ZERO per cent chance of a new signing at White Hart Lane.

coopsieyid
muttley-It came to me this morning that actually I don't think Tim has done anything tactically other than he has given Ade his chance which imo Ade was always capable of playing as he is, whether he maintains it who knows, I think he will because I think he is playing for an extended contract as his City money runs out in summer. All Tim has done is say express yourself, there are no tactics, plan, any one who says you don't need a DM and not against a team like City shows me he has no idea when it comes to tactics, what has he actually done that is different other than revert to a 4 4 2 brought in a player that was already a very good player and told them all to attack and play without fear. I don't see a plan or tactics, it all looks very amature to me, the players we have are professional and internationals, they need someone with a plan, tactics and experience to help them over come other teams, not someone who says go out and express yourself.
WorldPeace
Big clubs still sign players all the time. Juventus for example have over 70 full time players on there books. 25 in there 1st team squad, 30 loaned out gaining experience. and another 20 in co ownership deals like Berardi who can become there player anytime they wish. Baldini should be signing us talented youngsters for the future left right and center like Damien Camolli did. I know some didnt work out but over all i think he helped us get to the level we are at now on the cheap. Wasting money on the likes of Soldado will get us nowhere.
spurs-stelios
It's ridiculous that Chelsea have bought yet another player (Zouma) and loaned him out, I think that's 25 players they have out on loan now with 15 of them at top flight clubs.

When are they going to put a stop to this nonsense of clubs hoarding players, I suggest only 3 players over 23 should be allowed loans and no non home grown qualifying players over 21 should be allowed loans.
coopsieyid
logos, Bale got us our highest ever points tally and Falcao and Hulk got Porto the treble. Some people have a habit of being in the right place at the right time and some people can't see the wood for the trees.

Love the fact this tw*ts found his level. Enjoy the snow, dick!
coopsieyid
yiddyboy-point taken, I meant a PL proven goal scorer although I will admit even then it doesn't guarantee goals when they switch clubs. Still I said it all along, big mistakes made in summer with Soldado, we had a terrible season relying on Ade and Defoe the season before and so we knew we couldn't take that chance again and I would have thought we would have got a PL striker in not reply on someone of Soldado age and a player who has never played in the PL or is renowned for only scoring in the box, not a PL type player imo, wrong choice whoever made that choice imo. Your right thought some players just don't work out, I don't think Soldado will for us or in the PL, just an opoinion, but happy to acknowledge your comments re 'proven goal scorer'.
WorldPeace
There's an interesting quote from a Guardian writer who was at Tim's press conference:

"He also said that transfer dealing at Spurs is a consultative process in which he is involved and he won't be giving his go-ahead for any moves."..............
coopsieyid
ItalianYiddo yes avb is a genious that's why he never wants to come to England again because he had so much success here. He'll won trophy after trophy in the coming years and we'll regret sacking him. Enjoying the trees I see.

win not won. sorry again.
logos8
Coops- agree, they are buying for the sake of it so no one else can buy them. If Tim is being honest then may as well stop watching TW updates, waste of time and energy. I guess best to keep tabs on us just in case we have any out goings.
WorldPeace
coops-may be Tim feels he has a good enough squad and happy to keep all the players and that he doesn't want to seel to buy, he prefers to carry on getting to know the players rather than bring in another new player who he has to get to know, lets face it, experienced managers don't usually need time to get to know players, but our Tim is not experienced, I mean to say he doesn't know the first team of the club he is working for is a bit concerning, did he NEVER watch them then? I will be happy if non of them are sold but concerned that other teams are strengthening and we are not especially in a certain LB position.
WorldPeace

Well isnt that a surprise, at the start of the window the coach said we wont be signing no1, and on the last day of the window the coach again says we wont be signing no1. Sometimes we have to believe what the coach says rather than those 'in the know'!!!!!!

not only did TS say ZERO signings, but does not sound like Pauli, Jan, Kaboom, or sandro will play tomorrow! Lamela and Townsend still out as well. So i guess Bentaleb plays .....

hudderspur.. Why is it "Another phucking joke of a season"?
MAN ON!
Collymore just put out there that an unnamed Belgian striker is coming to the league. ITK stated a few weeks back that we were scouting Batshuayi, so clutching at my last straws, I'm hoping it's him that Collymore is on about. The lad is quite a player (looks like Patrick Kluivert lol)

I've always thought Sherwood was a bloody idiot and after that statement and the fact he can't see the facking glaring holes we have then i can only hope he does not last past the summer.....what a clown.

LOL, I just looked at Collymore's twitter and right before that post about an unnamed Belgian coming to the PL, he wrote "Spurs. No business in or out for the remainder of the window." lol
coopsieyid
Nah Coops, I think we are pretty much done now. Tiny Tim has spoken....and in his words not mine "I could have got players, but we don't need them"

MAN-ON: I posted this earlier so ive just copied it. Hope it answers your question

over £10m profit on transfers in the summer, another £9m this window (not including possible Holtby / Capoue) yet nobody as spurs thinks we need reinforcements despite already having four spankings and counting this season?? We are out of almost every cup competition and are clinging onto 5th spot having already sacked our manager and our “long term project” is in complete tatters. It’s not the lack of signings or the appointment if TS that bothers me, it’s the complete arrogance and naivety shown by THFC that we will just muddle on and things will work themselves out. Jeeez it’s the same every phucking year.
hudderspur
hudderspur.....have to agree with you there.....and that statement from that**** only confirms how arrogant he is. I have never taken a dislike to a Spurs manager the way I dislike him...not even Redknapp.
ledgespur
The more I hear from Sherwood's own mouth the more I'm convinced that Levy has already made it very clear that his role as manager ends at the final whistle of the last game of this season. Which manager in the PL would say no thanks to any signings if the opportunity was offered by the Chairman. The more likely scenario is that Levy told Sherwood he won't be allowed to buy or sell anyone this window as the new manager arriving in the summer will want to adjust the squad. Sherwood sounds to me like someone trying to put a positive spin on basically being told by Levy 'Give you some money this window? What for, you're going in May and the next man will have to restructure. Do what you can for the remainder of the season.'

Interesting that a manager that so many want/wanted at THFC, wants a player that they don't want at THFC ;-)
coopsieyid
hudderspur… Okay.
MAN ON!
Spurious ... I don't think we'll get 4th either, possibly 5th more likely 6th. As regarding our goal difference, (which I think will cost us a league place) if you take out our 3 hammerings from City (twice) and Pool that puts us with a +14 difference add the Wetspam that's another 3. We have won 3 more games than drawn/lost combined so we must be doing something right. As people keep saying It's the top 4 clubs we can't beat. Outside of top 4 only Newcs(really lucky) and westspam have beaten us. So for at least 13 games we scored more or conceded less and 4 games were equal. You're right we will have to improve massively to beat any of the teams above/around us but realistically we could still win all the other games. It'll depend on how the other top 6 clubs do against each other and our goal difference will cost us a point.
longtimespur
I mean look at the facts.....Our manager is not even qualified, His number two has ZERO managerial know how either, headless facking chickens the lot of them.

Hudders, couldn't agree more but we're not allowed to imply that the gret Danny doesn't know what he is doing. I actually think he knows exactly what he is doing, it's just that it doesn't include creating a top-flight football team. Sorry, not allowed to say that.
Harry-Kari
Lets be honest if we aren't sure about Sherwood then we aren't sure what sort of system we may play next year, Baldini is stuck as in theory there is nothing to do apart from move a few players on loan. I doubt we are even in for anyone at the present and anyone we are linked to is probably just agents trying to talk up price, the joke that Pochettino knew Hotlby had gone to Fulham days ago should tell you that a lot of our business is done days in advance to any of the comments we get that are "Live". I love the fact people ask what Baldini is doing.... well I imagine his job what do you expect him to be tweeting hourly as to his movement and what he's up to??!!
fletch77
Imagine life as an Accrington Stanley supporter? They could probably do with Capoue on loan. That'll make a man of him...
MAN ON!
Oh well thanks for all the effort Coopsie..et al. Another window closes and we're still light of a striker and LB. Just hope our CB's get fit soon or else we'll be getting even more thrashings. Tim's interview was obvious that he was nervous, you can almost see the cogs ticking before he speaks making sure he doesn't mess up. As for 100% no chance of any one coming in that could be true but as a long life spurs fan I always never believe it until the window is shut. You just never know with levy. I hardly believe anything managers say in TW they all lie to a certain degree they have to so they don't give too much away, that can cause problems with potential transfers or give other clubs ideas. It's all a game
WorldPeace
We have heard Chadli, Capoue and Holtby all wanted first team football and wanted to leave, so how come Holtby gets his desire the other two don't? Makes you wonder whether we could still see a couple loaned out.
WorldPeace
WorldPeace I don't think Chadli will go. We need him at least as backup.
logos8
I also think Tim after the City game has quietened down, his confident perky self is diminishing quickly, the stress is setting in imo. Does he want new players, of course he does, all managers do, plus I am sure he would want to buy at least one player in his first and probably last TW for Spurs. My bet Levy doesn't want to spend and trust his judgement knowing new man coming in next season. Tim is saying what he is being told to say that i am sure. He is not relaxed imo.
WorldPeace
logo-probably right but just asking why Holtby got his request but other haven't, does that mean that Tim doesn't fancy Holtby then?

There is no need to buy. The team has not, at any time, been healthy enough to play our best XI in their best positions. We don't have a clue what we have. Now, if we want to get a LB as cover/competition for Rose, fine. Striker would be nice, but who? And what will Adebayor do when he is on paltry wages come June? Anyone willing to put their hands out to catch the dummy? And how many of our players will want out if we do not get CL? Most of the players did not come here to play for TS. Fair or not, it's fact. Seems genuine interest out there from CL teams for Jan, Sandro, Capoue, Walker, Lloris, most of whom will gladly pay wages we will not. As I see it, best we can do is get our best XI out there and make a run for the top 4. Our lack of ability defensively under TS means we haven't a hope in Hades of getting through the Europa and I doubt he considers it worthy of a great club like ours. So, lets all hope for an Arsenal-esque late run that pips them to fourth with United denying Liverpool. That's about the only way I see our team progressing and not falling back in to a real rebuild. Oh, we have lots of money to spend, if we choose (35M for the new TV deal plus about 15M in net transfer, wages of BAE and Gomes gone in the summer, Defoe off soon too) but what Manager and players will want to come to this level of constant uncertainty? If we get top 4, I reckon it may be salvageable. If not, I just don't see anything good coming out of this. Let's make a run. It's all we've got. COYS

So glad Holtby is a loan deal. For all the supposed "football fans"...I hope you realise that before the Draxler link with Arsenal, that our young man Lewis was regarded as a better player than Draxler, just needs a chance. £1.5 for Lewis or £30 million for Draxler. I'll tell you straight up, we've got the better deal. So happy for his loan.

Cider Spurs - He's a quality player, I wasn't too happy about the loan but it should be a good chance for him to show what he can do week in week out. And with Fulhams new acquisition of Mitroglu I can see Holtby really excelling there.
