'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Liverpool v Spurs: The Report!

Well, I have to admit, that pretty much went the way I feared it would.

Mothering Sunday, or the Mother of all Sundays. What an absolute shambles. I'll start with Liverpool's 3rd goal if I may, it goes a long way to explaining how weak we have become. It started in Liverpool's box and ended in our net, all without one single challenge, not one tackle. Yes the defensive line was a touch further back, but it was still high enough. Does a high line not call for pressing and closing down?, where was that?. My old favourite's, desire and passion, where they at?. Vert's and his injury, sounds wrong, but his attitude is now so negative I wrongly find myself questioning did he really have to go off, or was it more that he's had enough of this mess, a mess he is being paid very well to be part of.

Commentators remarking on our body language pre match in the tunnel, the casual approach, not looking pumped and eager for the battle. Tim said we would go to Liverpool and attack, got to love the guy, he told no lies. We scored in under two minutes. Beauty!. I'll leave the debate as to who was to blame for that Vert's or Kaboul to you guys. Siggy and Bentaleb as the defensive screen for the back 4. Really?, a 19 year old, still learning his game and a player who plays his best football in the attacking 3rd. I do not want to hear, Sherwood has no blame in this anymore, that decision alone should show how tactically inept Tim is at present.

This does not mean I dislike Tim, It's just too soon for him to be given the reigns of a club aspiring to be a top 4 regular. The players have lost focus, Levy must share the blame also, was Tim just another cost cutting exercise?, the players need to man up, It's embarrassing from top to bottom. Never before have I felt so low supporting Spurs, another 2 goal gift, stupid free kicks around the box, switching off when defending throw ins, no pressing, Flannagan showing men how to tackle, Henderson MOTM.

Tim got a touch line ban then?, I heard he sat in the stands so he could get a better view, might be an idea to actually get down on the touchline and bark a few orders after witnessing the shambles from his pedestal. Yes he got on the old mobile, but I want to see my managers on the touchline spewing fear if need be, not sat on their jacksie all nice and comfy whispering orders down a phone, save that for the sex lines.

Here's the thing, have the players given up?, has Tim's appointment been the catalyst for the apparent lack of effort from some?, are the players good enough?. You see, we have so many questions still, but we cannot decipher where the problems lie. Do we keep Tim, but get rid of those that appear less than bothered?, do we get a new manager in the hope that the issue was Tim's inexperience?, or do we go all in and rid ourselves of both dud player types and manager?. Whatever the answer may be, I for one cannot wait for this season to end, add to this the fact that I do not even care where we finish league wise anymore, and you may just get to feel how disheartened I have become.

Yes Liverpool are a great footballing side this season, hence the need for the players to give 100% as a bare minimum. Did you witness that?. The silence from within the club is deafening, there's no plan on or off the pitch. Shambolic, depressing, Delusional, Disgraceful, left here imprisoned within my mind left devoid of sanity. How can this be?.

On a positive, they only scored 4 this time. Against top 4 this season, we played 8 games, secured 1 point, scored 2 goals and conceded a miserly 27. Take your pick with the blame game, I know this much, that'll never be top 4 pedigree. I love our club dearly, but enough is enough. This is no knee jerk reaction, none of this, I prefer one manager over another. This is more about being able to hold my head high as a Tottenham supporter safe in the knowledge that my club does its utmost best in all things football related. The club chose me, as it does with many fans. Football being played the way it was meant, the verve and passion, the crunching tackles, the fist pumping goal celebrations, dare I say, smiles on the players faces. All the things that attracted me to Spurs. Please sir......Can I have it back?.

Apologies for not really reporting too much, if any of the actual match. But let's be honest, you've read it all before, and in a way, this article very much ties in with why the match maybe played out the way it did. Hope Vert's and Soldado's injuries are not too bad, and wish them well. I'm not that mean.

Just to confirm. Apparently Roberto Soldado tried to punch Tim Sherwood, but missed...

Shambles. Worst I've seen Spurs play. Geof good afternoon ;) I hope we don't have to fight relegation next season..I don't want to waste another bottle of JD! COYS!
James1
Wow we are bad. Why don't we just pass straight to them every time and give them goals? Great idea! ...I had said give Tim a chance, and he's blown it - crazy team selection again yesterday. Really hoping the Van Gaal rumours are true!
ScottyTooHotspur
We have players who don't care, no matter how good these individuals are I'd rather them not be at the club. If you can't get motivated to play for Spurs earning £50k+ pw then lets start over with kids. Tim is way out of his depth but he didn't appoint himself. Levy need to be hung out to dry now, I fully expect banners, protests and even planes flying around WHL against Sunderland. Enough is enough! We've gone from CL hopefuls to laughing stock in world football. Get Levy out the hot seat and employ someone who can function properly in that position. We all take our frustrations out on players, Tim but Levy is earning £2m+ per year and what is he actually doing apart from fecking up our club??
yiddyboy
Just finished vomiting again! I feel like my misses cheated on me!!! Never have I felt like this! My pool mates were doing score cast bets. I told them bet on everything 4-0 and over! Only paid 12/1 I believe! It feels awful to be expecting to be pummelled every time we play a team above us! And the feeling we won't ever score is always there! Can our shirt sponsors pull out of their deal at this stage? Will our tv matches drop next season!! Will we have the feared exodus?? Something needs to be done and announced NOW, to save us as a club!!
Dublin Hotspur
Those rumors have not been confirmed Ox however Twitter had a barrage of tweets there was a bust up in the changing room after the match! I hope someone smacked Dim in the face, I hope he got proper done and the players all got a kick in! Dim is a disgrace to the club and I expect his resignation today with Levy following him but we all know Daniel aint budging!
Mix26
Yiddyboy, in a WC year, I can't see players not putting in effort. I think some don't care but it's about Tim, not them or the club! How have we turned so many good players bad? The answer was sitting in front of the Liverpool directors sons, in the stands!!!
Dublin Hotspur
Apparently we are the only team in the league to have not scored in the first 15 mins of a match this season , about sums up the lethargy emanating from our club .
sandroman
Dublin, you may be right but I'm fed up of watching the circus every week with KoKo the clown in the stands!
yiddyboy
Yiddy , I understand what you are saying re Levy but don't hold ur breath , he is doing exactly what big Joe wants him to do , protect and increase his investment , doing great at that so can't see Levy going anywhere , as long as these hiccups aren't hurting financially Enic won't change anything at board level
sandroman
Me too yiddyboy, me too!
Dublin Hotspur
Worst Spurs I have ever seen. The players want Tim out, this was clear as day with the Erikson and Siggy interview after we won! They are simply not playing for him. I have never been so ashamed of our performances on the field. Tims game plan was to hang on in there ( with no dm ) the man is a clown and I will not be watching another game with him in charge. Attention seeking, arrogant, delusional, clueless prat
spurticus87
Dublin....Hurts me to say. I too also told my Celtic supporting friend to back Liverpool to win by 4 clear goals. Does not mean I did not want my team to win, and I never bet against Spurs (being a saint, I never bet, drink or smoke). The game went exactly as I thought it would.
Cider spurs
Cider I'm surprised it was only 4 going to Anfield with no holding midfielder, it's not like we had Dembele or Sandro on the bench.....
spurticus87
540 more minutes then KoKo will be removed, I would suggest to bouycot the Sunderland game to make a stand or vent frustrations towards Levy. He needs to know that we are not happy with HIM.

On a side note, I saw Levy sitting with who I believe is his son, the son has a lot of similarities to Bentaleb in his look, just a thought?
yiddyboy
Great article Cider. It's odd, I posted an article four months ago titled "Tim, Naive, Stubborn or inexperienced" and a few derided me for it, saying we should all back him, give him time and we will see. Well we have, and I was right on ALL three counts. We could see it from his selection away to Arsenal in the cup, he has learnt nothing in his time in the seat and is getting worse, he is poisoning our club and the atmosphere within it.

Just what the feck are our players doing ALL week on the training pitch?

What are our backroom team doing?

What is our supposed manager doing? Watching a studying the opposition? No. Getting our team drilled, pumped up and ready for our games? No.

Bentaleb and Siggy in the centre, away to a freefllowing ‘Pool' side, madness. The man is out of his depth, our 'squad' needs a serious 'slate-wiping' clearout. We need to and probably will miss out on Europe next season, I hope we do, it's fine if you have the squad, form and confidence, we got CL football without it that year, Liverpool did too this season. No thanks next year.

And it is to next year that I am looking, I can't bear to watch the shambles that we have become and I wish it could end this week, we are a joke. We need a new manager signed and players purchased before the world cup, then at least we can start clearing the lethargic, bad atmosphere at our club. The rebuiling we have to do seems to be stark and shocking, it will be more so, when the flurry of transfer requests come in from Lloris, Verts and Paulinho at the end of the season. Even without those three wanting out we have to shift... Friedel, Gomes.. Rose, Kaboul, Dawson... Lennon, Siggy, Chadli... Soldado. (Plus Livermore, Falque, BaE)

Strangley enough this leaves us fine in midfield with Holtby, Sandro, Dembele, Capoue, Townsend, Eriksen, Lamela and Carroll.

Up front we will have Kane and Ade so two ins needed there. Maybe only one if we actually decide to play Lamela there in the position that he actually played for Roma, he is NOT a right winger and never has been.

In goal we might need a new number 1 if Lloris wants to go.

At the back though it is a shambles, Walker, Naughton, Fryers and Chiriches might be our only players so we will need two leftbacks and two centrebacks.

So on reflection, just one striker to bring in and four defenders. It isn't such a huge rebuilding job after all. What we need to do this time though is but players with commitment, drive and passion. Preferably young and British in my book. Danny Ings would be a great buy as backup for Ade/Lamela. Ryan Gauld from Dundee is an absolute gem at 17 years old. Will Hughes at Derby has impressed me too. The defence is tricky though and I could see us going Dutch to sort it out with Daley Blind, Bruno Martins-Indi and Toby being possibles.

sukhothai
It's like Tim is sending our talented squad on a suicide mission. They go through the motions.......reluctantly.
Critical_Spur
Critical_Spur, he is sending the fans on a suicide mission as well.
Kong
Sherwood has never accepted any responsibility for any defeats, always blaming the players, fair enough yesterday was individual mistakes but the set up was wrong. He keeps going on about the players, not having any beliefs about playing top 4. One minute players are playing for their future, the next he has already given a list to Levy on who he wants, sitting in the stands for the whole match and saying he gets a better look at the players from there. Don't get him.
Kong
sukhothai I enjoyed that article and agreed from the get go that this would unfold. Things were only going to get worse and it was very predictable. All the love shown to Dim last week was a shock to me and a complete waste of energy! His reaction to the match and heading up to the Directors box was a disgrace!!! He is a very very bad apple and things are rotting at THFC. By the end of today mark my words Dim will not be at our club and will never return I hope!
Mix26
sukhothai - I not so sure the Dutch will sort out our defence, the Dutch are not renouned defensively. I agree with most of the clearout you mention, although I think Soldado could work in the right system, playing him as a lone striker is not getting to best out of him.

Kaboul is too injury prone and seems to have lost his edge, I believe he's out of contract in the summer too so easy to move on. Dawson just isn't goo enough for top half of the prem, ditto for Rose and Naughton. Verts just looks like he can't be bothered, not sure whether his head is elsewhere or if he just can't believe the standard around him, we have ruined a good player in Verts. Friedel is too old, I wouldn't be too disappionted with Lloris and Gomes tbh. A big shake up is required, and another year in transition. Fed up of transitions but can't help but think this is exactly what Levy/ENIC want as it gives them the excuse NOT to invest properly....
yiddyboy
Sukho, I also put one up in jan" Tim Sherwood, genious or charlatan?" I was also slated by many as it being premature, but the latter seems true now! The great pretender, sabotaging our team!!!
great write up cider! I'm amazed you could be bothered to turn the laptop on after that! I too won't bet v spurs! Could be making a fortune!!!
Dublin Hotspur
Ghulamville, I don't remember Liverpool losing too many games last season by 4/5 goal margins.
Kong
Instead of a Spurs 'man of the match' poll this week, can we run a poll for which one of them we'd most like to punch following yesterdays performance?! I never thought I'd say it, as last year he was a hero, but it's 'Super Jan' for me.....don't think he was even injured, just think he wants out.
King26
ghulamville- give sherwood more time? really? to totally destroy the squad?....when in a hole stop digging.....Tim hasn't EVER shown anything that suggests more time will improve him....the man can't string a sentence together, hasn't studied for his profession yet wants to 'educate' us fans.....sling the joker out of our club as soon as possible and bring in some professional to set some foundations in place so we don't go backwards....
shedboy2
ghulum u need to take a cold shower son
Mix26
Yes it does matter Ghumlamville, I would not be feeling like this if we performed yesterday, gave our best, had a go and lost 1-0. We lost 4-0 and played bad, very bad. Not good enough, not only did we lose 3 points but our team got another battering.
Kong
Of course Rogers is going to ask for Sherwood to get more time...it guarantees him 6 points again next season!
shedboy2
I also don't understand what the feck the coaches are doing all week. Levy mentioned we are heading in a new direction, WOW this is not what I had in mind!!

I do miss AVB if I'm honest, at least he had some class about him.
I just hope Lewis has twitter and decides to sack Tim and Levy with immediate effect!!
yiddyboy
Ghulamville of course Brendan wants Tim to be given more time, it means that Liverpool would have one less competitor for top 4 next season! I contemplated reporting abuse on your comment but there was no category for deluded
spurticus87
I agree Yiddy, I get to watch a bit of Dutch football and those three mentioned are the only three I would take from there, I hope we could find two leftbacks in Britain but no leftbacks spring to mind and we need two.

I give particular attention to Rose when he 'plays', he is just awful, the worse excuse for a footballer in all my years of watching, yes he scored a worldy once, but so did Atouba. Rose doesn't offer anything at all and his attitude stinks. I agree that Soldado maybe could offer us something and supported him fully for the first five months, but I feel as with Forlan and T.D Thomasson, he is one of those who will be prolific in another league but it never really clicks for him here. Seems a nice bloke, but just how many passengers can one team carry?

sukhothai
HE PLAYED SIGGURDSON AS A HOLDING MIDFIELDER, YES HE REALLY DID THAT. WITH SANDRO AND DEMBELE ON THE BENCH HE PLAYED SIGGURDSON AND BENTAPLEB AGAINST THE BEST STRIKE FORCE IN THE LEAGUE AWAY FROM HOME!!!! HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY ARGUE THIS CLOWN NEEDS TIME!
spurticus87
sukhothai, you are so right about Rose, I thought he would do well at the start of the season but now I don't want to see him in the team again. Either he is not fit or just lazy, always looks like he is jogging rather than sprinting. Shame he is not the only player playing bad.
Kong
considering the talent in the squad, this has to be the worst season for many years. Many people have said it is down to a lack of belief in the manager. I think it goes further than that and is a lack of belief in the owners. I have written before on ENIC so I won't go into detail again other than to say that if our owner Joe Lewis as concerned about the football as he was about the balance sheet, then why is Daniel Levy still running the football side of the club despite so many major cock ups. It is time for some serious anti ENIC protests hopefully starting on Monday against Sunderland. Maybe the hundreds or maybe thousands of empty seats will spur ENIC into action. Finally, for all those who keep saying that we have the sixth biggest salaries therefore we should only finish sixth then take a look at Liverpool. Amazing what a well coached, well run and motivated team can do. It also helps if you keep your best players. Louie Van Gaal - I don't think so. Why would he risk his reputation at Tottenham. Absolutely no chance.
jonathan01
ghulamville- you must have had a bang on the head...have a lie down (btw Tim isn't a manager and he had the jan window but said he didn't need anyone! )
shedboy2
Levy wrote this season off the moment AVB left. He clearly thought "We'll just draw a line under this year and start again next year when i can pick up a manager on the cheap without any compensation" It's not Sherwood's fault that he hasn't got a clue, but it is his fault that he hasn't stepped down for the good of the team. At least he hasn't lost the dressing room, he never had it to lose!
gothic spur
jonathan01- Levy owns enough of the club to keep himself in charge....but pressure should be brought...I would suggest everyone delay or indeed not re-new their season tickets next year....the club will start spinning this great player/manager etc but it's just to get you to renew..after all if you do want to go to a game you'll still get a ticket on Stubhub!...
shedboy2
Apologies, I posted this also on coopsies Nonsense thread, but seeming as a few have questioned players ability.

Ricardo Rodriguez LB, Konoplyanka LW. Sorted. Micah Richards to cover RB and CB, add to this Doria, great young CB, or, Fabian Schar. This to me gives us a very solid backline to build from. Need to lose one out of Bentaleb, Dembele or Paulinho and attempt to sign a player who has the ability to split Midfield with one pass. Get away from this sideways passing. Yes we have Lamela, Chadli, Holtby and Eriksen for the AM roles, but a player who can dictate the game from further back is most certainly lacking.
Cider spurs
Add to this Bony, Lukaku or Benteke.
Cider spurs
Shedboy2, true about stubhub, why get a season ticket when tickets are going for around £30 on Stubhub. If things don;t change for next season then tickets will be very cheap as no one will be going.
Kong
Rose, he is lazy, has no positional intelligence, gets caught out every game! Was standing still yesterday for the first goal, and not even in picture for any other attack Liverpool made! Eriksen was even back to try to cover him!
also long balls to Robbie or ade don't work! Stop this! Build from the back, forward moves, feed him in the box! I feel for him more than any other player!!!
Dublin Hotspur
Ghulamville , also don't expect a manager to come in half way thru a season and totally disrespect 2 Brazilian and 1 Belgium international midfeilders by playing a complete 19yo novice and then saying because he trusted said 19yo more than those internationals , came across as ameturish and has continued with that lack of professionalism since .
sandroman
Ghualamville, you were happy with his team selection yesterday?
spurticus87
Ghulamville, it is good to know that Sherwood has one fan supporting him, shame everyone else doesn't.
Kong
He also lies to the players - telling them Bale was staying whilst he was trying to squeeze more money out of Madrid and constantly telling the fans that we will be keeping our best players. ENIC OUT NOW.
jonathan01
ghulamville please enlighten us to where u feel Dim has done anything remotely managerial barring a flook 4 vs Newcastle and a sturdy result against Sunderland I think. Has he made a game changing sub? Has he instilled a solid def plan? Have we looked anything other than counter attacking or long ball? Have we had any game plan whatsoever? Have we honestly looked more disjointed, ragged, toothless, pathetic and a complete joke in 8 odd years? There is no work rate, no commitment and not even pride ffs! However long Dim has been here it's far too long already, he took the job, in fact he begged for the job and told us he knows what Spurs fans want! Well we want you to phuck off Dim back to the scum up the road!
Mix26
crisis u are actually taking the *****! Phuck off ghulam! and take Dim with u!
Mix26
At least we have a returning Tom Carroll from QPR..a gem of a player now more experienced.. Also Livermore from Hull.. and others on loan. Just need a top manager and his back up team to work with them, and main squad players...
Block D Spurs
Mix26, Sherwood has not had enough time to implement his ideas on the team (his own words), I dread to think what his ideas are.
Kong
Shedboy2 , exactly as you say regarding Levy owning a large lump , thing is we have too be prepared for a few more seasons of this because Enic won't sell till the financial position of the club is such that they can sell with optimum profit . I have mentally put any on field aspirations I hope for on hold whilst Enic are in charge and suggest others doing the same . Removing Levy even if it did happen would change nothing as the next guy would still be a JL cronnie with only one brief .
sandroman
We are so bad that opposing fans are actually starting to feel sorry for us. How bad must it be for that to happen? Unless I suffered a major halucination last night a tweet appeared from SpursOfficial yesterday evening around 10pm saying that Sherwood had been sacked with immediate effect. 90 seconds later (the time it normally takes from kick off for us to concede these days) the tweet had been removed. Now that is very odd. If it was a fake account why remove the tweet? If it was the official account then that is some monumental cock-up to make if it isn't true. I'm still confused but I'm pretty certain that Sherwood knows that his Spurs career ends in 6 games time at best and perhaps sooner if the majority of us get our wish. I think he's staying in the stands because his influence on the team is below zero and he is effectively just filling the gillet until a proper manager arrives. The sooner the better for me.
SpuriousLife
Oh come on now, all this “give him more time” talk is just nonsense. With AVB, I could understand why people wanted to give him more time, wait for the players to settle etc but TS hasn’t got a bloody clue. His team selections are laughable, the tactics NEVER change regardless of how we are playing, and he clearly doesn’t have the respect of the players. Although the players may “like him” that doesn’t mean they respect or listen to him. Of course Rodgers wants THFC to give TS more time……it’s another 6 points a season for them and bulks up there goal difference

I don’t know who is doing the training an spurs (if anyone) but its school boy defending every game, no pressure off the ball every game, no desire every game, wrong bloody team selection EVERY game, it is a very serious situation. I have lost all patience with a number of our player’s as well. Regardless of possible talent Vertonghen Rose & Paulinho can just sod off in the summer as they just don’t give a $hi7 about spurs, and in all fairness Rose shouldn’t even be a PL defender! Yesterday certainly wasn’t a surprise, but im just shocked at how easy we made it for them. Cant wait for this season to end.
hudderspur
We as fans want success on the pitch, it's the way it will always be. Here's the thing. Because of our continual ability to always be found wanting when so close to actually achieving some credibility, we have now become somewhat impatient. Rightly so.

Some may argue we got rid of AVB to soon, we at least we looked like we had a plan under his reign, albeit with boring football as some proclaim (myself included), could he have excelled with time?, now we have Tim, no way should he be given next season, he is still trying to learn things AVB before him and if it were LVG, things after him, that these managers already know.

Simple things like watching your next opponents, scrutinising their every apparent weakness. Here lies the next problem, how long do we as fans give the next manager before professing he is crap?, by no means am I saying Sherwood is good enough as of yet, my question is more, because of the continual buy, sell, rebuild, sack process of players and managers alike. We are always placed in the position of a false new dawn and increased expectation. It's obvious Sherwood is inept at this role at present, however, the one thing that I really do wish to finally happen is to secure a manager, and stick with him for the full duration of his contract. LVG is known as a slow starter, are the fans ready for this?, I just want a stable club for 3-4 seasons with a manager improving season on season keeping our players as a united team as opposed to selling the top talent.
Cider spurs
jonathan01 - Not really sure what you are saying, Liverpool's wage bill was a lot higher than ours even before Suarez got his new deal. At one stage their chairman was saying it was a priority to get it down, that it was unsustainable, that seems to have been forgotten. Van Gaal will take the Spurs job if offered it, a nice earner for two or three years before he retires, he's too old to have to worry about his reputation. Somehow I don't think a 62 year old is really the manager we need.
jod
Cider spurs we need all 3 of then strikers
stephenspurs1210
Cider - a lot of the lack of patience we show as fans is because we hear so very little officially from the club. If Levy actually had the balls to come out and apologise for the crap we've had served up this season and said that the club is working to improve things and that we need to show patience and support to Sherwood because the board believe he is the right man for the job and will support him wholeheartedly in the summer then at least we'd know the club's position and where we stand. That is the official line United keep giving with Moyes. Instead we get NOTHING. No apologies for the abject performances and total batterings we've suffered. No insight as to whether the board wants Sherwood or not. No idea what is going to happen this week or next let alone next season. Because we are blatantly ignored and kept in the dark people eventually get fed up and turn. That is where the frustration starts from. Levy hasn't got the balls to man up and front up to the people that are the lifeblood of the club. Instead he hides in the shadows sharpening his knife awaiting his next sacking victim. Good clubs respect their fans. Spurs apparently don't. No apology from the players. No apology from the manager. No apology from the board. So what conclusion are we supposed to draw? Either these performances are deemed as acceptable or we as fans don't count for $heit.
SpuriousLife
stephen...As I recall season start the thought of Dembele, Sandro and Capoue in Midfield led me to write along the lines of "Please Mister can I have my ball back." Add to this Paulinho and I thought we were going to have a Midfield to smash all and sundry. How wrong I was.
Cider spurs
Cider spurs, When you and others say that LVG is a slow starter, what does that mean exactly?

Of course Brendan is going to say Sherwood needs more time! He isn't gonna say he should be sacked is he?! Diplomacy, respect and class goes a long way!

Can U imagine TS picks the team against Liverpool, tell Nabil and Gylfi you two are the engine room. What will their and other players' reaction be? Oh, sheet!. WTF. Hiding for nothing! ...and then expect them to perform?!

Spurious...Great post mate. Sentiments I wholeheartedly agree with. Feel totally mugged off at present.
Cider spurs
Absolute *****e yesterday! No passion, fight and the team as a whole, just didn't gel or look interested. I said to my son during the first half, that you could easily see a totally new team next season and perhaps only 2 or 3 of those starters being at the club next season, let alone the team
oxfordspur
MAN ON!....It means LVG does not usually punch his players until his second season in charge.
Cider spurs
In my opinion, there's more than one person to blame here. Aiming it solely at Sherwood is wrong, same for players, Levy, Baldini or anyone else. This season has been collective ***** up from everyone!

Levy: Should never have sacked Villas-Boas. Admittedly, probably should never have sacked Redknapp or even Jol at the time. This club will never achieve stability, consistency or a loyal and dedicated playing staff as long as Levy is in charge. Like the most fickle supporter, he seems to want to cut all losses (players, managers or otherwise) at the first sign of trouble. No one can make mistakes under Levy and get away with it...imagine working under those conditions!

Baldini: "He's got great connections"...does he really? We got lamela for £30m as a result of his "connections". Happy days!! In all seriousness though, like most DoFs he has no idea about building a team with a collective ethos. Seemingly more of a fantasy football type mentality where he believes that simply because a player has talent, it means they can adapt and play anywhere...arguably the biggest waste of 100m in the history of football.

Villas-Boas: Never bought into the Spurs philosophy and therefore was doomed from day one. I applaude any manager for doing things their way and in fairness, maybe AVBs short comings were more of a mistake by Levy. AVB never made it a secret that he was tactician first - entertainer second. What I would cirticise about AVB is his stubbornness in the belief that he will ultimately be proved right. Sadly we'll never know if his crazy high line, odd formations and sideways football would have brought us glory...

Sherwood: As mad as a bag of frogs and makes Alan Pardew look like the very image of composure. Tim wants to do well, he wants to win, he wants Spurs to be the best and he wants to do it playing open, attacking and entertaining football. However, as my granny always used to say "Want in one hand and poo in the other and see what fills up first". For all his likeable traits, it's clear Tim hasnt got a clue what he's at. It's becoming increasingly frustrating for him and understandably so...but as a club we need to be careful of our reputation and while I'm very much in the "we need stability" camp, it would be irresponsible to continue with him after the end of the season.

The Players: Optimized by Jan Vertonghens lack of belief, effort, concentration and form. I wouldn't pick him for my Sunday League team at the minute. Same goes for practically every player that took to the pitch yesterday more or less. There are very few players that can hold their head high at the end of the season (Adebeyor, Lloris, Eriksen, Paulinho...think that's it, my god!) and that simply cannot be entirely the fault of the management and coaching staff they've worked under this season. Players need to lift themselves at times...

What I don't get is how anyone expects next season, under Van Gaal (or anyone else) to be any different.
KierzoSBC
Ghulamville – Mate, the reason why Moyes could be given more time is because he consistently over achieved with a very average Everton squad for 10 years or so. He has proven that under the right conditions he is a very capable manager. OK, he is completely ballsing it up with Man U and he has admitted that. Personally I don’t think he will get another season but who knows

TS hasn’t got any record to fall back on, so he can only be judged in his very short spell which oesnt really make good reading. Its not only about the points situation, but fact that soooo many players seem to have gone backwards. Adebayor made TS look good for his first handful of games, if AVB could have buried the hatchet with Ade he would still be here and we would be a few places higher in the table. Im sure of it.
hudderspur
Cider spurs - Interesting points, however the first question is if you want a long term manager (and I would argue four years is still fairly short) then do you appoint a 62 year old like LVG ? It may not be what you want to hear but holding on to players is not always possible, Bale being a prime example, he wanted to play for Real and was prepared to turn down United to make it happen. We don't know if Liverpool would have been able to hold on to Suarez if they had received an £80m offer. As it is the wages they are now paying him are more than we could afford. The only way for a club like ours to succeed is to build a squad that is structured so that when one player leaves another steps in and the playing style remains unchanged. That requires a discipline and organisation I haven't seen at the club in my 30 odd years of attending matches.
jod
What it really means is LVG does not walk into a club and win Cups and Leagues in his first season. He usually takes time to look at players, see whether they can reach the required level under his guidance, address this through signings (usually minimal) and then work his arse off to bring a well drilled title winning team to fruition. Sounds pretty much what any decent manager should be doing, why we fail on this score who knows. Maybe Levy meddling, maybe too many players not good enough still being retained at the club, maybe past managers not able to improve players.
Cider spurs
Cider spurs... :-)...... It's a genuine question. If he was to be given a 3 year contract, how long do people expect him to take before we start looking like contenders again? If it's to be LVG's last job, then surely it makes sense to say to him, Look we don't expect miracles, but you have a full 3 years to turn it around. Is this fair and realistic? After all, he's not going to stick around for much longer anyway, at his age.
MAN ON!
Lol @ Cider! I want someone who beats the cr@p out of players from the go!
Critical_Spur
Cider spurs, that's what I was thinking. Surely the vast majority of managers, great or good, need at least one season of transition before we expect to see improvements.
MAN ON!
MAN ON, for me time is not the issue as long I can see development and some shape taking place. Any manager would get time (from Majority anyway) if one could see something on the horizon based on what is being implemented on the pitch. With Tim, I don't know what to expect from one match to another....the team, his behaviour, fans reaction, players' body language, etc.
Critical_Spur
The Tony Adams School of management has finally kicked in I see in the post match interview, if I talk slow and whisper people will think I am smart.... No you PR!CK you are still Tim Nice but Dim (funny how that is slowly starting to spread to most now). I'll sit in the stands and pretend to be taking it all in getting a good view of what's going on, FFS there wasn't anything going on so no idea why you sat up there you moron. If it's about winning individual battles why do you send out a teenager who only gets in the team because you've got some kind of fetish for him, the lad wouldn't even make it into a championship side unless you were the manager. People were right to make assumptions about the guy, clueless moron! I made claim we give him games, but we are getting worse the games up Tim now F*CK OFF at the end of the season with a fist full of dollars and you can take Rose and Nabil with you. Ghulamville are you off your head completely, seriously deserves a gig at the Naggs Head Friday night Karaoke is about it can duet with Nabil "I've got you Babe"..... Tactically Naive, Zero Man Management Skills but yes Ghulamville give him the job next season will be great to watch us with the likes of Winston Reid and other great additions along with that watching Soldado playing sweeper, Siggy holding in midfield and Rose (fingers crossed he's sold or discovers he is a better tiddlywinks player) lining up as the target man for the balls lumped in from 70 yards, honestly yes great idea.
fletch77
Ox, I know as site manager you need to remain objective but I'm really pleased to see how much it's hurting you as well! Gnu alarm were you happy with yesterday's selection?
spurticus87
I mean even the defence shows what a hypocrite the tool is! I want people who try and put their all in for the club ( plays the non interested Vertonghen over Dawson ) personally I think Dawson isn't good enough but be a man of your convictions
spurticus87
jod...A good point mate ref; LVGs age. Not a point overlooked, but an opportunity to install a manager who is capable of increasing the players footballing ability is a must. Rodgers has done it at Liverpool, can we honestly say our players have improved over the past few seasons?, if anything, we have gone backwards.

My sole theroy behind wanting LVG is the fact that he can and does improve players, he is a winner, a disciplinarian. If only for 3 seasons, this will go a long way toward building a more tactically, technical squad. Foundations for the next wrong appointment to mess up afterwards. ;-)

As for the retaining the players, yes players come and go, but let's bust a gut as a club to show we are professional as opposed to a fly by the seat of your pants operation, we might just find some players will treat us with more affection. Too many players play for Spurs who IMO are not good enough in too many matches. One big cull, and one strict adhered to vision. Has not got to be LVG, I'd quite happily settle for FDB or Martinez. Question being, why would they want to come?, scary thing being, it's not a decision that they would base solely on the football, but more the way we don't run the club.
Cider spurs
KierzoSBC - shouldn't have hired AVB in the first place. AVB had to be sacked. AVB was bringing the place down. The guy wasn't even big enough to admit that our low goal tally was a problem that needs to be addressed. In the end, we are still suffering the hangover from him. We take too long to spot the pass. Lennon hasn't been good at all this season, but it does not help when he finds space and the guy on the ball takes 8 touches before he sees the need to pass to him.... Lennon is then doubled up by then. Chadli too. The guy have pace on the ball...townsend too. But they never get the chance to run at anyone. We now struggle to stretch the opposition, we do not get numbers in the box, nor up the field. The high line stuff is comical as we do not pressure the opposition enough in order to pull it off. Play anyone talented, and they have the skill and accuracy to pull us apart. Harry was far from perfect, but in four seasons he rescued us from relegation, the only one to finish 4th - and twice at that. He qualified for the champions league, and got to the quarter finals, beating Milan, Inter and co. Plus he got to the league cup final, only losing on penalties. All those people moaning at Harry must be moaning 100 fold now.... Wasn't so bad then was it.... The following him with AVB was the main travesty.
TonyRich
ghulamville does have a point. Nobody would have minded if we had lost 1-0 and been competitive. But we would still be in the same position, pointswise. Just put it down to another **** day at the office and move on. The next 6 games will tell us so much more.
Geofspurs
Ghulam - I would happily give a decent manager plenty of time. AVB wasn't right. Too stubborn and too slow in his build up. His style is not right for the PL. Sherwood is not and will not be good enough to be a PL manager probably ever but for at least the next 5 or 6 years. Too gobby and (apologies for being rude) but he is also too thick to be able to develop the tactical and communication skills needed to be a successful PL manager. I would happily give any of the following 5 years as long as they show an understanding of the PL, our Spurs tradition and how to make us a better, more successful side even if it is in small increments. LVG - RdB, Martinez, Pochettino, Brendan Rodgers. Will any of these managers come to Spurs? Would you with Levy in charge?
SpuriousLife
Geofspurs, I wish we did lose 1-0 but we get hammered from game to game against the so called top 4. Hopefully Everton finish 4th so we can say we won against a top 4 team.
Kong
Tony it's no secret that Harry stuck the bomb up his own arse and I backed him till his last game in charge but he had to go. AVB was 1 point shy of 4th in his first season and not given time this season either with 7 new signings. There is no point in discussing these 2 as they are history. TS should never have been given the job title, he is no manager and we are a suffering the consequences that Levy and co have caused. I wont back calls for Enic out but people have to be made accountable.
Mix26
I’ve just bought a suicide kit in case things don’t improve ... an acorn and a rope!!!
Geofspurs
6 more games ... that gives us the opportunity to try out 6 more managers in preparation for next season!
Geofspurs
Geof that counter acts Ghulamville point, we have not been competitive under Tim, we have been atrocious! If we were competitive and could take positives out of the performances then There would be a case to argue that he deserves time. When we have been mullered and look atrocious consistently there is no argument for! That mf line up yesterday is absolutely inexcusable and to defend it is incomprehensible
spurticus87
GLC (Global Fruit Company) has been announced as our new sponsor! In future Spurs will play the first half of the season with the Cockerel emblem on their shirt and the second half of the season with a fruit, shaped like a pear, as the shirt emblem!
Geofspurs
Ghulamville, Vertonghen has been ***** poor for months and he starts him over Dawson who is everything he claims he wants in a player. So no he doesn't do that
spurticus87
Sorry Geof but we need to sack you. 3-0 has been the target and you have ultimately failed. Be off! ;) COYS!

Leagues within leagues.
There are, in my opinion, three competitions within the EPL table. Bear in mind all the issues that we have faced this season. I’m not going to list them all because we know what they are and why they make us angry.

1) The top four of City, Chelsea, Pool, and Arsenal. 2) Everton, Spurs, and United. 3) The rest. Spurs are nowhere near ‘1’. Spurs are competing with ‘2’. Spurs are ahead of ‘3’.

If we lose to a ‘3’ team, we should be very (very) upset! If we do not compete with a ‘2’ team, we should be upset! But, with all those ‘issues’ in mind; why would anyone be upset about losing to a ‘1’ team (especially away from home)? Is that not the result of unrealistic expectations? And if those ‘unrealistic expectations’ result in abusive comments about our players ... what does that say about our supporters?

There are many things wrong at THFC (remember the issues) but the players are not to blame for them. Some players (I agree) are not good enough for where we want to be ... but they are what we’ve got for the time being and should be supported. Until they are replaced and all the ‘issues’ are addressed, it is what it is. We are simply a number ‘2’ team! There are 6 games left; all against ‘3’ teams. If we don’t get 14 points from 18 we are within our rights, realistically, to be upset!
Geofspurs
The ridiculous thing is that one fan asked Zenit for AVB to return!!! I hope that it was a joke, because even Tim has a better league record than AVB this season, and both had 16 games each (tim's 29 points beats AVB's 27).
TonyRich
I think it's funny that people were begging for Sherwood to be fired last night/today. Still only 4 months in the job and his entire future career is written off. Wenger is the most experienced manager in the PL by far and yet his team has also suffered heavy defeats to City, Liverpool and Chelsea. Is he also clueless?
MAN ON!
hahahahahahahaha ghulamville seriously? Thats a very 'nice' post. Pat on the back for effort but an epic fail. What fav do u talk of? What reputations? Calamity Dawson perhaps? Magnificent Naughton? The Chad? Hell he even benches our best player in Erikson! Bentelab? a revelation? please enlighten me to this revelation... It's so nice of Dim to play players but he can't even get them into the correct positions? Siggy and Benteleb? How many times have we spoken about a DCM of which those two are complete opposites! Geofspurs we DID lose 4-0 and we have been sheit for months lets not escape the reality.
Mix26
Ghulamville if we give him the season then at least the next manager will have a chance of winning the league........although the championship is very competitive
spurticus87
Man On, if Wenger first started out at Arsenal by losing like this then he would not be there now. We are getting hammered and still not improving, teams will lose heavy but it is how you react to these defeats, it seems we don't learn anything but we need to do better against the top teams (Sherwood's words).
Kong
Well here we are .... the morning after no it wasn't a dream/nightmare it was a real life experience.... Thanks for a great read Cider, as ever the realist, the dreamer all in one!!! Thanks mate.
This is the view form Row 23 seat 44...

Arriving at he ground at 3.50 team announced but not on the scoreboard... had to ask those standing near me for confirmation.... Same defence as last week... Siggy in the centre with Nabil... NO Sandro nor Dembele but on the bench... Chadli up front, Eriksen on the left? Solly on his own? Ah well, we did ask for no changes after a win, think it's the wrong game to listen to the masses.
Kick off approaches - thinking all concentrate - no boot laces time... keep them out of scoring distance for the for the first 10 mins at least....at that very moment as KO is about to taken... YK is tying his laces and then precedes to pray to Almighty Allah! No, Younis wonderful to see your spiritual belief but not NOW ..concentrate!- mind fully on the game...we've been here before....So I thought... KO ... Rose once again is on the attack... and then ..... it seemed like a rehearsed move... nearly a block of us all slumped on our seat!!! Here we go...

The same back four as last week - how are we going keep these out ? Same MF as the one ended with last week - how are we going to hold those in red ? Solly on his own - how... Ah well - empty midweek must have worked hard at the tactics...

We keep singing the encouragements ... but difficult to be heard by the loudest din I've heard the Redscousers make for a while... all those flags - doesn't the H+S regulations apply up here ?

Goal 1, 2 (good intro Daws - nothing like a club captain making those mistakes) still doing the best to encourage ... half time ... still thinking we can come back remember last week
Verts seem genuinely injured...... good reception on 4G - catch up on some comments on Vital - hmmmm.

still singing the encouragement

Verts shows up on crutches on the bench

Irritation shown at seeing Ferdinannd on the sideline - where is Steffen?

Come on we've to attack... Dembele, Andros Harry, anyone...

Coutinho scores at the far end - the fire drill takes place but only a few depart the scene... instead first sign of dissension in songs about Levy out , want our Tottenham back, TTID, enquiring the whereabouts of the manager (didn't join in there - instead of "where" did say "who"!), asking for a wave from aforementioned (certainly didn't join in with that one); wanting our money back, singing when are ****!

Disbelief at the subs. Nabil off?!!! Dembele seems to have injected some sort of structure an 'fight'
The singing continued till the end... singing they must be **** it's only 4-0! And obligatory we are gonna win 5-4 when we got the corner and then some celebrated as if we scored a goal!

Solly carried off - seemed gen as well.. got the song "ten men" unflurred

At the final whistle - fans booing the players at the same time as returning their applause - most of us standing there stunned - £59 for the tickets and £60 for the petrol... for another battering... I think there were mitigating circumstances for feeling that way.

Across the Stanley Park to the pub, conversation with a few Reds from Edinburgh - down for the game - not only the mad ones then ?!!

Drive back - contemplating whether to join the remote army of Spurs fans in front of the telly next year ... but takes the real enjoyment of the game for me...

No blame can be attached to the manager because we don't have one!!!

Nearly 13hours for the game - enough time for the charlatan to leave the scene?
Highgatespur
sandroman- it's in our interest that ENIC get the LEAST possible profit if and when they sell....that way we keep money in the the club and out of their back pockets...
shedboy2
Kong, I can't disagree with that, but Wenger after all these years, has still managed to mess up, in a big way, against those teams above Arsenal.
MAN ON!
Man On, that is true, Arsenal do get beaten very bad at least once a season. I think it is time Wenger left Arsenal but I don't want him to leave as it might just be just the kick they need. I just want Sherwood to leave first, I am not happy with the way our club is going and he is not helping.
Kong
Maybe I'm missing something when I've been watching our games with Sherwood in charge. I've seen precious little of anything positive that gives me any hope of us being a team better equipped to compete at the top of the PL with Sherwood in charge. What have I missed? Is a positive pattern of play developing? Are our players regularly showing fight and spirit? Are our players getting better? Is our style of play getting better? Do we play with the right tempo for the PL? Are we pressing in packs with intensity and energy to get the ball back high up the pitch? It's all well and good talking the talk but if you can't actually put it into practice (and 4 months is plenty enough time to AT LEAST SEE SIGNS that these things are developing) then, as far as I'm concerned, the person doing the talking is just a bull$hitter.
SpuriousLife
I still say that if you find the players at Spurs with the longest tenure then you will find one of the main root causes - Naughton, Walker, Dawson, Rose, Kaboul, Lennon, Townsend etc. I would keep Walker as I think a decent manager would take him to a new level. I might keep Townsend to see whether he can get his game together. The rest though need to find a new club as they simply aren't good enough or in Kaboul's case not fit enough and value for his wage. Friedel can go as well but clearly for different reasons. We need to stop blaming the new players and look at the old guard who have made it hell for the new players to adapt. They are the ones making the individual errors and they are the ones who will never get any better. Guys like Dawson and Lennon are perennial losers and they need to take their loser mentality with them. Then we can watch these new players and others form a great squad.
muttley
Should have kept BAE imo. Brilliant on his good days (I know there were less than good days too), but still more consistent that what we have now.
Geofspurs
It borders on Xenophobic the way the press want a 'British' manager to be fast tracked and successful that they over look the guy is completely devoid of a clue...mentioning Wenger or Rogers in the same breath as Dim is laughable...they had both learned their trade at a lower level and were picked for larger clubs because they had demonstrated competence....
shedboy2
sandroman- " it's in our interest that ENIC get the LEAST possible profit if and when they sell....that way we keep money in the the club and out of their back pockets..." ? Any money a seller gets comes from the buyer, it has nothing to do with the club's finances.
jod
Bentaleb has been a revelation..... I am now crying sorry Ghulamville I am trying to stop laughing, I am sorry I was reading what you wrote thinking you may have had a point, but then I read the above and the fact that he plays plays who perform that right because Rose has been a revelations as well!
fletch77
TonyRich - Agreed. Redknapp was a bell end in the sense he couldnt keep his mouth shut or respond in any way respectible to pressure but yeah, replacing him with AVB was a massive mistake. Far too stubborn and absolutely no love for attractive football.

That said, sacking AVB was also a mistake. I believe we'd be in a better position now under him. Not only in terms of the league position but in terms of the players attitudes, the clubs reputation and the general atmosphere around the place. I'm not saying he'd have got us top 4 but we really could have done without the instability until the end of the season.
KierzoSBC
Ghulamville, although 100% disagree with you - I applaud you for sticking to your thoughts whilst many, similar thoughts as you, have flipped here ... Give time? - for me, time is truly over, done and kaput! Good riddance !!!
Highgatespur
shedboy2, pesonally, I'm a fool but not foolish enough to compare Sherwood to any other manager. How could I after 4 months? I'm just comparing results in relationship to their relative experience in the job.
MAN ON!
*personally*
MAN ON!
jod- there you go again, naive....if we sell for a £5...the new owner only has to recover £5 from the clubs revenue streams to start getting a ROI if we sell for a billion he needs to recover that before he starts to get a ROI...which scenario is more likely to have a greater impact on the clubs finances?
shedboy2
I enjoyed reading that, Highgatespur.
Madaboutspurs
Well said shedboy2 on the experience post...
Highgatespur
Muttley, for me the ones with the least to blame are the new ones .... we need a complete change of the culture that exist at the club this moment
Highgatespur
Highgate, I've not seen anyone flip... Besides, everything in life is not so black and white. People are allowed to change their view. When Spurs play well I will praise them. When they look like they don't care, why would I praise them?
MAN ON!
man on...I don't think you're fool...I just don't think there is a comparison to be made...If I compare a runner to a race horse my comparison will imply he's quick, If I compare him to Cart horse I'm implying he's slow....I'd compare Dim to two short planks....;)
shedboy2
yiddyboy, the boycott for the Sunderland that you call for won't work and there's no point as all tickets are sold as is for all the remaining games!

Have you ever heard the boss sacking his son-in- law ? Nah nor me! Levy won't be sacked.
Highgatespur
hahahahahahahaha shed!
Mix26
fletch77, there are a few Spurs who think Bentaleb has been the best player in MF. for me, he has shown great promise but totally mismanaged - he ought to have been nurtured and given games with respite frequently... can't say with 100% accuracy but this mismanagement may lead to a slowdown in his development!
Highgatespur
Dublin, did the tv show when Rose brushed aside eriksen's suggestion to go wide a bit to cobver the green acres behind him? Next thing - Henderson galloping in the empty space... and then actually saw Rose shrugging shoulders at Eriksen!

Who wouldn't be dispirited playing in that structure ? I must ask what is happening at the training sessions? But, Dublin, we have been having these conversations since I came on here regularly.... do you think that the same occurs at the club ?!! LOL
Highgatespur
I have never said that Tim is the great saviour of our club. All I've ever said is give the man a chance whilst he's still in charge. If things go drastically wrong, I see myself being slated for it, as though myself and others are responsible for it. I obviously feel that I cannot foretell Sherwood's entire career. I am not his lover but, I can't despise him either. If he does something that actually seriously offends me then I will say so. Until such time he's just some bloke that I've never met, that manages Spurs.
MAN ON!
I honesty think we have been witnessing for the past 4 months, the same thing that happened to the club in 1974 -1976. The manager ran down the club so much that relegation occurred the year after!!!

I hope I am wrong.
Highgatespur
Geof, g'day mate. I had to chuckle when you said we will know more after the next 6 games! We said that we would know more after the cup games, the EL games, we would know more after march, the terrifying month we had in stock( and look where that left us!).
I fear there is no more to learn about Tim. What we will know after the next 6 games is what is left of our squad!!
Dublin Hotspur
Highgate, I feel like I'm repeating myself, but sorry you had to travel to watch that! On the positive, cheers for the link you put up of the yid laying flowers at the memorial! The pool fans responses were great, and they are not a bad bunch! I hope they win the league on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy! You should put the link up again. Had me very somber reading through!!
Dublin Hotspur
Tonyrich, AVB may or may not have been the answer, we would have had a better idea at the end of the season, 4th always a big ask but a good chance of a cup. As a treble winner to replace him with a witless YTS beggars belief.

Dublin Hotspur
Dublin, thought that picture was great. I do spend a few moments of silence on every trip.... thought it'd be great to promote stuff... again well done that man!

Yes we seem to be repeating ourselves but enough is enough... sometimes we have to go on our hunches we don't always have to know them inside out personally or professionally. Was wrong with Harry, Juande and partly with AVB but not this time from the word go!

I guess this time our hunches were correct!!!

Funny feeling but I think most of the away support were thinking along the same lines.... I may be wrong!

I couldn't bear any listening time on any interviews either! - reminds me of a Fleetwod Mac classics " Tell me lies tell me lies...."

Take care care mate.

Before I read...

Went to the game.

We KO within 10 seconds Rose gives the ball away....

Team look lost.

Players not tracking back, Lennon kept stopping.

We will blame Tim and or Levy but the players seem to have given up.

Bentalab and Siggurson did not give the back line cover.

Would actually say, other than Lloris and Erickson the whole lot can go. ( From the 11 that started)

Harsh I suppose so but they are so poor, it is amazing we are still sixth.

All the games left are very winnable but which Spurs will turn up !

Was not a happy Sunday or birthday for me yesterday.

If LVG comes in will the players still be there or will the exodus begin before Holland bow out or win the WC.

So many players need to go....imo a(nother ) overhaul is required, how that will pan out who knows.

Very Disappointed !

ro6ertj
I wish that Birdzzzz would fly off to someplace where the sun don't shine and stay there!!!
Highgatespur
The fact Liverpool can do this to anyone doesn't really matter, the fact we've scored 2 and let in 27 against top four clubs says that was our last chance to put in a performance.. I don't even want 4th, we don't deserve it, also don't want Europa, "united"!! You can't blame Tim but really will he be any better next season,,, no, same same but we're not in Thailand we're in shi11y north London where the only thing to do is eat chicken and get a hair cut. That probably sounds like jibberish but what's the point in talking football x
T.H.F.Chris
Dublin why we never sorted that LB position I don't know. Every player doesn't seem to give two monkeys. Get rid of the ***** from this club. It needs an enema and a dose of bleach. COYS!

I love chicken and I do need a haircut..
MAN ON!
ro6ertj - welcome back!

I have to blame the players on the performance yesterday as I reckon there is no one acting like a boss at the moment. Have you ever thought what on earth did they do last week in training... same ole same ole... everywhere. I mean everywhere it was predictable but was so disappointed.

Unlike you I don't think we need an overhaul - just the usual suspects need to go... I still believe that this group need leadership both on and off the pitch! and that could be the missing link...

Felt very let down
Highgatespur
THFChris - there are quite a few restaurants, great parks, lovely people, great football club, a few colleges, a brand new state of the art opening soon, thriving communities - lot more than barbers and chicken shops!

What else would u like ?
Highgatespur
Dublin, it was quite interesting talking to Liverpool fans about Spurs - they were **** scared of us until December!!! They couldn't believe the implosion - they couldn't believe the reason why TS was in the stands...the sympathetic farewell with 'it'll be better next year' was excruciating.
Highgatespur
I want goals Highgate, preferably in their net not ours...
T.H.F.Chris
Mix .... That's my point. We have lost by several big scores, but every one by the top four. We cannot compete with them, yet, because we are not good enough, yet. So don't expect to, yet. That's the reality now.
Geofspurs
We have no leaders. All well and good to shout and motivate but a leader should also be tactically aware of what's going on. I don't see it at all. I've mentioned this a few times before but when you buy a player, you don't just look at the technique/ability. It's what goes on between the ears. You can have all the talent in the world but if you have no brains and heart you're no good to anyone. COYS!
James1
Still no apology from the club (players, manager or board) for YET ANOTHER totally inept and unacceptable performance. Do we fans really matter so little to them? It really goes a long way to helping us understand why we're in the mess we are. The players don't care. The manager doesn't care. The board don't care. We fans are the only ones that care and we don't count for phuck. So disrespectful that it is beyond belief. Sorry costs nothing and shows that they at least understand and acknowledge that what we've seen this season hasn't been good enough. What do we get? Deafening silence. They don't care but we're supposed to and we're supposed to pay for the privilege too? Total bunch of phucking half-wits.
SpuriousLife
SpuriousLife, right now I hope they're training hard and are trying to sort out the mess.
MAN ON!
Hi Dublin ... sorry about the Turin thing! The next 6 games are teams we should beat The top 4 are teams who should beat us, just like they have. The next 6 games will pretty much prove if we have regressed or are standing still ... and given the way the season has gone 'standing sill' is the best we can hope for, sadly!
Geofspurs
Spurious I hear what you are saying but trust Levy does care, he hates it even more than us. Proud businessman having to go and meet the Liverpool directors after losing 9-0 ain't his cup of tea. Whether he has the bo//ox to do anything about it is another thing, we need big changes and big players, not young ones that can be sold on for big fortunes when they come good.
T.H.F.Chris
MAN ON - Is Levy taking training this morning? The players were able to tweet about not being punched last night but I didn't see any of them actually apologise for the crap performance they actually delivered. The problem we have as a club is that the only people that care are the fans. The lack of care pervades our club from top to bottom and we are currently seeing the results of it on the pitch. I don't expect them to share the passion we have grown up with but for the hefty wages they get paid each month I at least expect them to show some professional courtesy and respect for the club they represent and the minimum standards they should at least be able to deliver. To not try en masse on multiple occasions this season is unprofessional in the extreme. For the club hierarchy to then just keep quiet about it is disrespectful to the fans and a cowardly dereliction of duty. We have cowards on the pitch and greedy cowards running our club off the pitch.
SpuriousLife
SpuriousLife. I do get what your saying but it is early in the day. I'm sure there's a lot of apologising and guilt going on behind closed doors right now. I need to see it rectified on the pitch....
MAN ON!
MAN ON - They've had all season to rectify it on the pitch and instead it goes from bad to worse. They're not able or good enough to let their football do the talking so it's time they used their mouths to say what they are unable to demonstrate with their feet. I for one have had enough of being taken for an idiot by all those linked with our club. All we are are walking wallets that they view as a necessary evil but one they feel they can treat with apparent disdain. Not good enough.
SpuriousLife
True geof! Is there any coming back from the team under current conditions? Even you seemed downbeat last night! That's saying something!

"How are you 6th in the table with a defence like that. Pure *****e. "
from utd fan! ( saying something)
"It's great when you're that good you can give a goal of a start. Maggiiccccc !!!" And "Great league 1 performance today !!" From a Chelsea fan
"Big win for the pool after! Yeah afraid sherwood has feckedthem royally" from a pool fan!
some samples of the thousands of texts I have received in the last 19 hours!
hope the board, coaches and plYers are getting texts like this too! I shouldn't have to put up with this!
Dublin Hotspur
I think we have missed the boat getting into the top 4 and staying there, 4 decent seasons of near misses and it looks like the end of the road for us. Total re-furb is now needed asap we have sold our match winners off to the highest bidder and all we are left with is a top 7 team at best. Same mistakes every game every week we see at the back, the top teams punish you nearly every time. Really not sure where we go from here, are we really going to go out and spend anywhere near enough to turn this teams decline around this summer? It will be the same old same old, sell Vert and Lloris and replace with Chaulker and who ever looks best in a GK shirt. So disappointed how we have performed in all the big games, we have been a poor second in all of them. Its time for a change at the very top. COYS
WestStandEnclosure
Oh and just now a city mate calls me and says.."sorry mate, but you are sheit".... Me? No just the team!
Dublin Hotspur
From fanatix: Tottenham were so awful against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, their fans had to pretend the side had scored! They chanted 'Lets pretend we've scored a goal', before going into mock, manic celebration! Unfortunately for the Spurs faithful, the scoreline finished 4-0 to the Reds, virtually ending Tottenham's chances of a top four finish.
Dublin Hotspur
Dublin ... I have no idea, Mate! I've gone into my 'default' support Spurs mode, which basically means I'll chill and see what eventuates. What choice is there? :-)
Geofspurs
Dublin, as I said earlier it was embarrassing to be there!!!
Highgatespur
None geof! My wife even asked why I support and watch if it makes me so miserable! She says the same even after a scrappy win for us! Luckily her dad was a spurs fan, and her brother is too, so she understands at least!
forever spurs!! That's why it hurts so much !
Dublin Hotspur
Geofspurs... You could always don the gilet, get yourself on a plane to old Blighty and do the job yourself. I'm sure the players would show you all due respect. ;-)
MAN ON!
zzzzzzzzz....
MAN ON!
MAN ON ... lol. Well the players and manager would certainly know about the history of the club they represent and what it means to put a Spurs shirt on by the time I've finished with them! :-)
Geofspurs
Tony Rich, the huge difference with AVB was there was a detailed plan that the players bought into. His league record was fantastic and he had a history of winning trophies - you sensed we would win one under him. The team spirit under AVB was some of the best I've ever seen at WHL. Ok so fans got frustrated and impatient with the style of football which was probably a reaction to the Harry years but then again we had to build again after losing Modric, VDV, King and then finally Bale. Basically ALL the world class players. We will never know whether the long-term plan AVB was trying to implement would ever work - Levy got his sticky paws involved way too early for a conclusion to be made. As for Sherwood he is so far out of his depth on so many levels its actually comical if it wasn't my club.
StillRickyVilla
EAGLES!
MAN ON!
Man on, whilst I respect your view, and under normal circumstances would agree about being given a season, I think TS has over cooked this whole thing and it's the laughing stock he is turning us into as a club which has not earned him that right.

my opinion as things stand Moyes isn't having a great season, but isn't sat in the stands claiming he needs to learn about his players, and takes responsibility for defeats. All we get out of TS is something along the lines of "it wasn't good" "we played a better team" etc. Wasn't it TS himself that made a comment about knowing everyone at the club? Apart from Wenger throwing an odd water bottle or two he hasn't made himself look like an out of control idiot on the touch lines.

we all dread the interview. On tv over here all we get is the review program saying something along the lines of "coming up next our interview with TS, which we are sure will as entertaining as ever "!!!!!TBh they spend more time talking about TS than they do about the performance. The reality is he is out of his depth and the squad don't respect him as a manager. If he doesn't like how we capitulate in games then he should understand how we all feel about his management skills leading to the capitulation of the end of our season. At this rate we will be lucky to finish 7th
Spurschick
Ricky, maybe AVB will entice some of our summer signings to zenit and we will see the fruits of his plan! I was prepared to see it out! He has a few there he wanted at spurs! A few more might follow him unfortunately! 4th highest paid manager in the world there on 7.3m£. They will give him time! Agree with you re team spirit when he was here! I'll get shot down for saying that, but what may have been! As you say we will never know!
Dublin Hotspur
SRV ... I agree re AVB ... we'll never know, and we'll die wondering. Pity, that. Hope we don't say the same about TS in the future because, this time, I want to know for sure!
Geofspurs
Spurschick.. You know you're right. ;-).... At this moment in time, I just want to see out the next 6 matches and take it from there. Maybe my patience will fade sooner, if the results and performances don't improve.
MAN ON!
Agree with SRV, to compare AVB with Sherwood is preposterous. AVB has moved on to Zenit, ok not Barcelona but a prominent European club. I can’t see a similar club coming in for Sherwood, or say Everton rushing to sack Martinez when Sherwood becomes available. Even the likes of Stevenage would be taking a big risk in taking this plonker on.
matt hoten
Cockerels crow and chickens are cute little egg laying things that just sit there, in awe of the Great cock of the Lane. No, I don't mean our manager...
MAN ON!
matt hoten, Give him 4 years and the lowly Stevenege will be top o' the league.
MAN ON!
HGH Magic... Been to any good hen parties recently?
MAN ON!
Spurs is not a club to be experimented on, especially not with a talented squad worth 100 million. I really don't want Tim as coach. His antics, tactics and arm waving histrionics and poxy sound bites don't do it for me. It's all about him imo. He's more concerned about his position than the state of the club. I dare say he wants to prove so many doubters wrong which is admirable but the club is sinking fast and the players attitude sums it up. They don't care and that what hurts the most. Either the players have lost faith in Tim, wished they had AVB or wish Levy would stop meddling with football affairs. COYS!
James1
James1 - well we know that now after the experiment has found that out to be the case!
Slurms McKenzie
Anywho, the league is over for us, lets focus on finishing above united so at least we aren't the biggest disappoint of the 2013-14 season, its the little things that get you through!
Slurms McKenzie
Tragic likes a bit of cottage chicken..or chocke the chicken! Maybe he's trying to replicate the sound of the chicken..they chocked against the Eagles at Palace didn't they lol. COYS!
James1
Does Lloris not have some culpablity in the defensive line that our back four plays. Surely he shoudl be screaming and roaring at them to hold a position he is happy with, I also notice a very definiate lack of command of our area under crosses. I only raise this because people feel he is the least deserving of a punch, when clearly Eriksen, playing out of position has been our stand out player since Ade's injury!
Slurms McKenzie
Slurms McKenzie, he should, but I think he more than makes up for it.
MAN ON!
Slurms it's crazy. Never wanted Tim there in the firat place. GH was my first choice as interim manager. Hoddle still had unfinished business and is more the wiser. With a talented squad at his disposal..well we will never know. I backed Tim but I've had enough. Love my club but hate the way it's been treated. COYS!
James1
Slurms - I hear we will not find what the instructions have been !

I feel Lloris has been our player of the year!
Highgatespur
Yep Tim sits in the stands to learn about his players...yet won't listen to the people that sit there watching players all the time...nope he knows best. He wants fight yet capitulates himself admitting it's all lost with over an hour to go...no fight, no plan.
shedboy2
* fear not hear!
Highgatespur
Slurm- hard to blame Lloris..the back 3 (plus Rose, what he is I'm not sure) had 'Pool running straight at them with our sitting mids taking their role literally and sitting on the defense's laps...good job we deployed two hard tackling defensive players in....the attack minded Gylfi and Bentaleb....need a goal let's throw on Townsend our 1 in 10 man....shambles from top to bottom..
shedboy2
Not trying to lay all the blame at Lloris' door but I do think the keeper should command his area and I just don't feel he does, world class shot stopper no doubt but perhaps an example of another leader lacking from the pitch?
Slurms McKenzie
I think we have plenty of leaders on the pitch...yet no one off it...if they can't buy into the club they're hardly going to start screaming and shouting at each other (imo that works very rarely...teams that dig each other out all the time fall apart) Daws, Sandro always give 100%, Kaboul made mistakes yesterday but didn't hide....nope Lions led by Donkey's I'm afraid....
shedboy2
Slurms ... I think Lloris could improve his kicking. He often does not seem to kick to a man, more to get it away from goal. I also thought Eriksen’s passing was poor on Sunday. He often held the ball too long or tried to pass too quickly. This resulted in him giving the ball away far too often. I say this because I watched Modric play for Real and he hardly ever gives the ball away. Bit unfair to compare Eriksen to Modric, but that’s what we need in midfield. Don’t get me wrong; I think Lloris and Eriksen are both very good players.
Geofspurs
Slurms McKenzie. I know that as an ex-goalie my defence appreciated me constantly shouting instructions at them and I expected them to follow. I would encourage and spur the whole of the team on. They never once told me to shut up. Lloris does seem quiet.
MAN ON!
If Tim learns more about 'his' players the higher he goes perhaps Levy should put a rocket under his arse...;)
shedboy2
Stick him atop a Sky Sports satellite....
MAN ON!
Man On thats where I'm coming from and I think without that the defensive line gets nervy!

Geof, chadli was the one who struck me as being unable to make the pass, the idea was good just the execution was lacking, on multiple occasions had the pass been completed he would have released a team mate into space but he just could dink the ball past a liverpool defender. Where as we let nearly every liverpool player complete their passes! Encouraging that the lad can see the pass, worry that he can't complete the pass!
Slurms McKenzie
Tom Carroll should come back. At least he can pass forward and find the target. CPYS!
James1
Slurms ... That’s exactly right. I don’t know how many times this season our players have tried to thread a ball into the box. They have seen the right pass but have not been able to execute it. The fact that they are looking for, and seeing, the through ball is encouraging. Even the Kid has shown progress in looking for forward passes. It’s frustrating but I’m hoping we’ll get there. Wherever ‘there’ is!
Geofspurs
Geof we're certainly on the slow boat to "there"!
Slurms McKenzie
Seeing hoddle in the studio yesterday you've got to ask why we didnt take him on for the season when he offered. No way would we have been this bad, ex-England manager with one of the highest win ratio's and bleeds Tottenham like you wouldn't believe, or Tim sit in the stand learning how to manage badly Sherwood.
T.H.F.Chris
T.H.F.Chris, He didn't win too many with Spurs and Chelsea though. But I wanted him too. I think he deserves another shout.
MAN ON!
THFChris - I agree but what I want now is the announcement and you know who on garden leave or something. Whenever I see on Hoddle on TV discussing Spurs I see the hurt... thank god I don't see him though, it'd hurt too much!
Highgatespur
He did justify why he didnt win as many with us, look at the players we had then, 40yr Sheringham for example compared to now. The real problem for Tim is he is competing with Mourinho, Rogers, Wenger and that City squad, is he better than any of them, will he be, don't think so tbh so the idea of giving him more time is pointless.
T.H.F.Chris
THFC, I saw that on the telly - made me laugh... simply can't wait for the day that he goes with one of chumpion news conference to boot.... It'd be brill to see GH back for the last few games!!!COYS
Highgatespur
T.H.F.Chris. That's true. Not the best squad at the time.
MAN ON!
HGH Magic. Hey, we'll be doing the funky chicken before you can say Terry's a ****!
MAN ON!
No need to criticise Tim Sherwood anymore as he has got himself the sack.
No need to call him a prize Tit as he is doing that all by himself.Trouble is when he humiliates himself,he drags the club & fans along with him.
Alarming the amount of people who are actually gutted he never got the sack last night, only a handful fighting his corner now.White hart lane no longer full is what will get levys attention the most so good on all the fans who refused to go when the club is like this.
Fans cannot voice their opinion in any successful way as nobody gives a $hit. But don`t spend your hard eared cash at the club & people take notice.
if you go to games & boo & jeer,it makes no difference.you still put money in the Enic coffers. But if fans don`t at all, then Enic will have to take action to get the fans back.
Short term may seem wrong, but for the long term & much needed thing to do.More empty blue seats the better & sometimes silence can do more damage than noise.

MAN ON!
Fanny adams, I would never ask season ticket subscribers to forego their tickets and I would not stop any who wish to attend the games to do so. The club (not specifically these players, this manager, this administration, but this club) deserve that support. What we, as supporters, do not need to do is to buy all of the s***** and extras. Don't buy the merchandise. Don't buy the beer and other foods at the concessions. Get them before and after the games at the local establishments. Don't use Stub Hub. You need the concessions, the kit suppliers and all those other enterprises that must buy in to be part of this to complain. That is where the genesis of change will start. If Spurs fans continue to be the blind supporters that Toronto Maple Leaf fans have been for the past 3-4 decades, you get what you deserve. Fleeced and no end product. To stop the fleecing, we have to do it ourselves. COYS
peterballb
As for the game, I saw no heart,no plan, no conviction. 2 great saves from Lloris. That's about it. The balance does not even deserve a mention. COYS
peterballb
FA is right...not buying a burger won't send a message....delay or don't re-new season tickets if you want to go to a game levy has given you the Stubhub option....to take our club forward we may have to take it back a step get ENIC to sell up and move on, they are letting us down...
shedboy2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alWpyjr9fT8 - Interesting watch, especially from 8 minutes onwards. Really makes you wish Tottenham would communicate with fans like the do in Germany.
rahn DMC
peterballb I have been a STh for god knows how long .... I gave up buying all the merchandising and food etc back in 1993 in protest and I still don't... except CL shirt, cups etc and an away shirt this year as I honest thought we were going to be where L'pool are this year - back in September....

organising boycott defeats itself as there won't be enough people and all the games are sellouts anyway - so no loss for the clubs.... Renewals will be the indicator but I am sure there will be taken up by others - this 'drug' is just too difficult to give up - for some of us it's the only 'sin'...

I have been on protests at the club before now... but in my mind you've got to be there to make an impact!
Highgatespur
shedboy2 as you know - it's not that easy to recover - look at Coventry! StubHub only comes into effect when games are sold out! There are protests which are far more effective - sit ins or a quiet period a colour day, show of red /yellow card ... and so on - but the boycott idea will never work....
Highgatespur
Very Good article Cider.
Windlespur
You know guys I've got an idea. Stupid enough it may actually work;)

When we kick off put the 10 outfield players the wrong way round on the pitch. Think about it, our back 4 would start in the middle of the pitch which is pretty much where they play with the high line we play, and when they pass back will be going in the direction we want!!! You never know some people may even end up in their natural positions;)!!!!!!

ok this was a joke for those that didn't befit but hey needed something to put a smile on my face;)
Spurschick
* befit should be get it omg even autocorrect hates me!!!!!!
Spurschick
Spurschick. That's no less mad than some of Tim's line-ups...
MAN ON!
Spurschick can we all blame/credit you when this takes place at a Spurs game - you never know who reads this!!!
Highgatespur
Well, both sunderland and WH survived longer than us without conceding again!
Dublin Hotspur
Dublin 1 minute 14 seconds yesterday - still feeling let down!
Highgatespur
Thought it was at Upton Park!! duh !!!
Highgatespur
It's frustrating that it's so difficult to organise a protest that might make an impact. A silent 30 minutes during a game might be a good start. Mind you, the way we've been playing and the depressing atmosphere we have at WHL it's normally silent for more than 30 minutes each game anyway. A mass walk out would be good but it'd be almost impossible to coordinate. Imagine 15,000 Spurs fans walking out of a home game at half time?

Spurschick! Genius!!! and Tim could orchestrate from the Kop waving a lliverpool "carefully chosen one" flag!! I like it! backward passing but moving forward!! Rose would be actually defending… but Bentaleb would still be doing the same thing in the same position!!
Dublin Hotspur
It is easy to slam levy, but if we were in charge would we do any better?
SpurInSpain
SpurInSpain. Of course we would.
MAN ON!
You are have taken over from Daniel Levy, who do you appoint as the next Tottenham manager?
SpurInSpain
Name your Manager and let us see where we and that manager are, come XMAS 2015, as the first assessment...
SpurInSpain
Feck this, I'm watching Nigel Farage on C4!!! Madman!!!
Dublin Hotspur
Bollix… C4 gone down in the fog again!!! from what I saw he's a rich, drinking, smoking bigot!! could he buy us??? or at least manage!!! Farage in…. Hope not!! LOL
Dublin Hotspur
SpurInSpain - that's the saddest part I really don't think any of us could have done any worse!!!
Highgatespur
SpurInSpain- hmm not sure it works like that...If you'd named Martinez last year...well relegation must make him the worst manager, right? but I would have had Diego Costa last year!....;)
shedboy2
The next Spurs manager should be Louis Van Gaal.
MrSpurs
what we do need is a professional with a plan...and the gravitas to hold the players...and we need Levy to back him with actual money, not just player sales! And to get away from this idea that we can just suddenly train up elite PL stars....if it were easy ALL clubs would do it! as it is Saints are better than most so it must be about the people rather than the 'world class facilities'...
shedboy2
I quite like Jesus!....a double whammy for Tim!...;)
shedboy2
...class is permanent, form is temporary (especially under crap management) Pauli, Capoue, Soldado, Eriksen, Lamela, Chiriches and Chadli....have all shown class on a consistent basis before joining us...let's not write these players off until they've had the chance to work with a pro in settled team ...especially when we have players like Rose and Townsend who have never shown class on any consistent level...just flashes of form. And Bentaleb who needs a loan to prove consistency, with mgt he could be good but at the moment he looks a JJ, is that what we need in cm?...
shedboy2
Man on I know it's not any madder than anything TS has done.! Maybe if he said this the players might actual ask what's he's up to!!! What makes me laugh is for all the so say talent we have you'd think between them they could just manage themselves on the pitch and ignore TS anyway especially as half the players seem to think they are better than everyone else anyway and yet the players seem so brainless at the moment they probably wouldn't even notice;)

high gate yes you can credit me ~ you obviously didn't get the veiled attempt to hide the fact I was submitting my cv for the job lol;)

Dublin you want to work with me - you've got my philosophy, Bentaleb sat there in midfield, defenders actually passing the direction we want the ball going, rose actually in a defenders position (same with walker for that point too) and our strikers playing deeper to pick up the ball and help out defending!!!!! I should have been a manager ;)
Spurschick
Losing can be tolerated; sometimes the other team simply plays better than we do. Yesterday's performance, however, cannot be tolerated. Is there anyone associated with yesterday's Spurs performance on the pitch who should not be sued for malpractice? Ox wrote that Roberto Soldado swung a fist at Timmy and missed. Much like he does with his foot and the ball, I'm afraid.
Falstaff the Fool
Falstaff the Fool- you realise that was the joke at Soldado's expense I hope...;)
shedboy2
shedboy2, One thing I really liked about Capoue, is he saw the pass and could make the pass. So the "transition " was quick. Decision making is too slow when midfield 'Recieve' the ball. Anyone, watch the games when Capoue played. Sandro and Dembele are to slow 'see-the-pass'
SpurInSpain
shedboy2, You and me were saying all last summer that we should sign, Diego Costa. How much is he worth now!!! Mourinho, will bid for him in the summer, bet your house!!
SpurInSpain
Diego Costa has pace, strength and is 4 years younger than Soldado. Seems more suited to the premiership as well. It's a shame AVB didn't listen to the advice of Doris "shedboy"Stokes ;)
Guyver
"I am not his lover but, I can't despise him either," wrote MAN ON! about our Timmy.

If MAN ON! were Timmy's lover, he could despise him, too. That's the way we tend to be with our lovers.
