ITK: Romelu Lukaku

ITK: Romelu Lukaku

Breaking news: Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is being chased by Chelsea and Manchester United, NOT Tottenham Hotspur. Whoopydo!

Sky Sports News, talkSPORT, the written press and football fan blogs have been in a frenzy since it was announced that the 23-year-old Belgium international reportedly told his paymasters that he was not prepared to sign a new contract.

As a Spurs supporter do I really care about any news concerning Lakaku?

Nope, not really.

ITK (In The Know)

If any site editor adds three simple letters, in this order - ITK then does it mean that when you click on the article and the contents within are not relevant to the headline, or it has little or no information then is that not click-bait? If that's the case then please feel free to read on.

Grandma Gladys knows

My Grandma (it's true I had a Grandma called Gladys) lived and walked this earth between 1896 and 1998 and during the time I knew her she would often tell me a tale or two.

As a youngster I always believed what she said but as I grew up I began to become suspicious with some of her tales. By that I mean, as she reached her later years her memory began to fade which meant some of her tales, which she told over and over, changed. Only to be expected I guess and nothing wrong with that.

Keep up

One of her traits was that she could read tea leaves and then tell you what she saw and what she expected to happen sometime in the future. You know, the ones (leaves) left as dregs at the bottom of the cup.

Sadly, I'm no tea leaf reader but I suspect she's still drinking the stuff in Heaven or wherever she is these days. In fact Grandma Gladys often comes to me in my dreams and last night was no different.

ITK - what did she say?

Romelu Lukaku will NOT be signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

There you go - an ITK article.

The next time Grandma Gladys tells me something concerning THFC then it's only fair I pass on her premonitions.

What on earth...?

I'm sure one or two Vital Spurs members will know exactly where I am coming from. If not then don't worry, there's nothing to see here.

COYS!!

Spurs don't need Lukaku. Spurs need a Sanchez, hazzard and Mane type player, who can make something out of nothing, has pace, skill and the ability to beat players for fun. The current players being mentioned that spurs are looking at like Zaha are uninspiring. Coys

Lukaku would be devastating for us tho... But, it won't happen. Chelsea were happy to sell to Everton, but not to us... His price tag was 27m, and now he is vying for the top scorer spot, so I expect his price tag to rise out of range. I expect Lukaku to go abroad... I guess he speaks French.....PSG...?

I picture Gladys in a rocking chair in a window in Bates Motel. If you look closely its a lonely man muttering about Levy.....

If you are going to use the name "Gladys" shouldn't you also include a rant about Levy, ENIC and be running down THFC so much that many suspect that you are CFC in disguise?

Lukaku would not fit our system at all. He has no defensive qualities whatsoever. He isn't going to press and that won't play with Poch. On this rare occasion I agree wholeheartedly with Ghanaspur re the type of player we need. Creative, fast, hard working with solid ball handling ability and a nose for a pass. Does that sound a little like Winks? I have a feeling that with a little more attacking flair (give him another 10 games experience) we will all be amazed at the lad we have.

Given that well ove3r 99% of ITK articles are wrong does this mean that Spurs ARE going to sign Lukaku? I suppose we could drop over 50 million on a striker to sit on the bench and wait for Harry to get injured or the last 10 minutes of blow out cup games? I'd prefer we invest that money in a better scouting system that identifies the lukaku's, Benteke's (before he got crap), Suarezes et al of this world before they become household names, so they learn from our masters and come through under our club mentality and systems. On the other hand a strong mobile striker who terrorises defenders and can play on his own would be decent copy of Kane so would suit our system to a degree - seeing as we don't change our system if kane isn't off the field. Although the closing down and pressing the ball work might suffer with Lukaku. Over all I'm left wondering why I've given so much thought to a scenario that will never materialise...
