Onomah and Carter-Vickers to be recalled in January?

Talking to The Guardian

Poch revealed recall clauses for both, and it seems there is a real possibility that we might recall our two academy graduates as injuries and tiredness seem to have taken its toll recently and perhaps Poch is thinking about how to inject some fresh blood into the mix for the second half of the season.

Both our loanees started well with their respective loan clubs, Aston Villa and Sheffield United, with both impressing.

'We have the possibility to bring them back,' Poch said.

I've been watching Josh closely and although his season has been a bit disjointed because of injuries its clear that playing more regularly has helped him progress, whether he has progressed enough to have an impact with us in the second half of the season is the great unknown. What we do know is that Bruce rates him highly as I've previously reported.

As for CCV, he made his full debut for the USA against Portugal recently and impressed, however I'm told that his last couple of games for Sheffield United have been less than stellar.

They're better off staying where they are. Neither of them can come back and impact the first team enough to displace the players already there in their positions. If we had a young striker banging goals in the Championship, it'd be worth it. With Wanyama coming back, and hopefully Toby thereafter, neither would be an immediate upgrade. In that case, their development comes first and they'll get way more football in the second half if they stay on loan.

Agree with BelgianSpur, they need matches. The further complication with Onomah is that when he did get on the pitch last season he was played out of position. Bruce has been playing him where he should play and (surprise, surprise) he has improved. There's no point in bringing him back to play cameos on the wing again.

I also agree with Belgian. Especially with Onomah doing so well and Lamela now back, seems silly to bring him back to warm the bench. Given a full season at the Villa, he could become a regular with us!

Leave them where they are, playing games. Have either of them improved or have they benefitted from playing against far weaker opposition.

He's nowhere near ready for the top half of the Premiership, he's hardly ready (some matches) for the championship. He's very in and out. Be fascinating to see how he progresses and if he does break through eventually for you. I have my doubts but then he does some nice moves and I think maybe.

Please take Onomah back he’s holding back our own kids . He’s nowhere near good enough for the Spurs first team never in a million years . He’s lucky to get in our side to be honest .

Onomah! Really, he was poor for Spurs and is not showing much at Villa, he is not a top 4 player, CCV also not showing too much either. Leave them where they are.
