The 'believing your own hype' issue is a strange one. Obviously the big con can be that you become complacent and think you're better than the opposition so you don't need to try but do you think having an ego and believing in your own ability directly connects to having a winning mentality?

Much like anything, I'd say balance is important here. I actually believe the opposite and that a lot of our players have quite fragile mentalities and are prone to lacking confidence. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but do you think our form has been poor since Lloris' confidence took a bit of a hammering vs Citeh? Do we rely too heavily on his confidence?

If the team goes through another season without a trophy and only concentrated on a 4th place finish we are no more ambitious than ars*nal.
You can poke the CL look how piss poor we were in that.
GO ALL OUT FOR A FUCKIN TROPHY FFS

Still makes me mad how he treats this competition. Some looked at the line up and said he was taking this seriously but I saw sissoko and laughed. Was that really gents reserve team as some have said. Get back to 3-4-3 ffs and play the football we were playing over xmas.

Then Rose's injury added insult and has totally destroyed our balance. I won't sit here and say Davies is a bad player, because he isn't, but he isn't Rose. Rose handles being left to protect the left on his own very well at times but Davies doesn't have the pace and often finds himself caught in bad positions (which is through lack of game time over the last couple of seasons. The same happens with Trippier when he plays.)

Stop making excuses for Davies he’s a full international for FFS. He was caught ball watching not recognizing the immediate danger quickly enough to block the attempted shot. Instead, he’s slow to react, off his feet going to ground like an amateur unable to prevent the goal. Poor defending.

Harry hit the post and had a crack from the edge of the box. Alli pulled one just wide . Dembele hit one straight at the keeper. It's not like we didn't get chances. Kanes was unlucky. We can turn it round but we don't seem to progress in this competition. 6 seasons on the trot, never past the quarters.

Are we better off out of it ?

you mean a Spexit ??

PS - Kane is ordinary as a lonesome striker.
