Spurs 2-1 Saints Match Stats

Highlights

Star Player

Christian Eriksen - Oozed machismo.

Player Ratings

Hugo Lloris 6

Made a couple of routine saves - fluffed a second-half Shane Long effort. As usual, bossed his defence about.

Jan Vertonghen 7

Kept the Saints waves of attack at bay. Solid at the back - sound as a pound (prior to Brexit referendum).

Toby Alderweireld 6

Had a header superbly saved by Forster and would have received a 7 but his failed clearance allowed Ward-Prowse to get one back.

Eric Dier 5.5

Did okay - nothing to write home about.

Ben Davies 6

Looked comfortable, once or twice shaken but not stirred.

Kyle Walker 7

Won the battles with Bertrand and Nathan Redmond and almost won the war. Next time Kyle.

Victor Wanyama 8

Took control of the midfield. Fantastic fitness levels, took no prisoners.

Mousa Dembele 7

Looked cool as a cucumber next to Dembele. Kept his head down and concentrated at the task at hand.

Christian Eriksen 8.5

MotM: Banged in the opening goal, spot on overall performance - Oozed machismo.

Dele Alli 8

Netted in his fourth game in a row, 17th this season. Master-class display alongside Eroksen. Just missed out on MotM.

Son Heung-Min 6

Unlucky to see an early effort saved - couple of other opportunities. Did okay.

Harry Winks 6

(For Son 75)

Kieran Tripper

(For Walker 78 - not on long enough to score).

Vincent Janssen

(For Eriksen 86 - not on long enough to score).

I thought that Wanyama wasn't up to his usual superb standards with some loose passes. Son also wasn't at his best, although okay. Otherwise I agree with most of the assessments Tino offered. By the way, Tino, thanks for the link on the forum. I had a friend in Brazil ask me for a link and he said it worked well for him. Several new Spurs fans in Brazil, by the way. They like our style.

Contrary to popular Falstaff I do aim to please. Glad everyone ended up watching the match by the way.
