'If It's Football, It's Vital'

When will it stop... Time for Video Refs?

I have had this on my mind for far to long now, two years ago I was pissed, just missed out on Europe & I seem to remember a few decisions which in the end cost us dear, the most memorable was at Trafford when Mendes scored from almost the half way line...

This year however is different, why? Not because decisions have gone our way in fact quite the opposite, now I could go on all day about wrongful decisions this season, instead I am going to focus mainly on the last two months. Think back to Chavski at the Bridge when we were 3-1 up & A.Cole should have got a straight RED for foul as the last man, didn't happen & we all know the end result, 3-3 replay...

So the replay comes at the Lane & we are confident at home, however this time its Carvaliho who should have got the RED, again foul as last man mean RED card by the letter of the law, but only gets a Yellow, end result we crash out the FA Cup!

I'm sure lots of you are reading this nodding your head in frustration from these alone but then comes the UEFA Cup, first leg in Seville we get penalised for the Worst penalty decision I have EVER seen for once even the commentators agree (gooner bastids), then we arrive at the lane once more to face the Scum...

Now this one is particularly painful to me for the sole reason that we had to let Dirty Diving Gooner Scum into The Lane, however then we start the second half (poorly once again) & defend, now I am not going to pick into tactics here but we were holding our own & I was relatively confident until that Rodisky falls on the floor because he ran the wrong way, the end result 1-1, shortly later another dodgy decision & we are defending another set piece (Obviously by defending I mean 'attempting too'), end result 1-2, now the second could POSSIBLY be debated however the first was a joke, I haven't seen a Dive like that since Zokora's.

Why can I only remember Zokora's dodgy dive (which he hasn't repeated fortunately) as the only wrong big decision for us in the last few years, this needs to stop, Videos need to be brought in, so what if they slow the game down, quite frankly I don't give a rats arsenal at least it will be fair.

Finally, I would like to mention quickly the article about the Prem morphing into the NFL, I can see what you mean but for me one of the best ways to combat this is make it FAIR, too many decisions go Chavski's, Gooner's & Mancy USA's way & it has to stop.

I am suggestion a Vote on if we should introduce Video replays & then possible arrange some kind of petition for the FA from supporters all round & not just the Spurs, as I am sure we are not alone!

I disagree 100%, bad decisions however frustrating are part and parcel of the game, they add to the drama of the occasion. If every decision was right most of the time we would have nothing to talk about in the pub after the game.

Malbaranque's little dig on Eboue's calf in the penalty area was totally Arsenal's fault. Oh yes. *sarcasm?*

Referees call it as they see it but sometimes they need help in making the right decisions.

I understand the frustration. That first goal yesterday was never a free kick. However, I bet every team in the league could point to similar decisions against them this season (except the Sevilla penalty which was shocking). But when it comes down to it we got battered by Arsenal yesterday. We scraped a draw we didn't deserve. We can go on about poor decisions all we like, but the first thing we need to do is stop giving the ball away.

quite frankly I am amazed.. To issue or not issue reds HAS nothing what so ever to do with Video.. The referee was outstanding in the Spurs versus scum game.. He did not get one big decision wrong al game.. The little ones .. HEY who cares!! Was it Mike dean who was the referee.. Icant remember .. Maybe because he did nothing to provoke being remembered.. THAT IS GOOD!

Berbs got booked for the tussle with Eboue i think it was in the penalty area, the tussle with Lemon came right afterwards. In fact the ref booked all three players if you remember rightly...As for he free kicks i agree it was a case of the Refs blatantly assisting another *top 4 team*, the ref could see that Rosicky *dived* yet he motions to show that Jenas was holding his shirt when replays clearly show that Jenas' hand was brushing Rosicky's wrist at worst (ooh er missus), and as for the Cuddlestone freekick well that was a joke, Huddle airkicks the Gooner (completely missing him) and the ref blows up a foul from which they score, surely refs can't give free kicks if there is no contact right ? FIFA rules say there's got to be contact to award the free kick first right ?...joke as usual

Video evidence during the game for penalties and "was it over the line" decisions are a good idea but nothing else. It would be virtually impossible to get it perfect. However they have proved that penalties and goal line tech works during the game and thats fine. So do it. However I think after-match analysis of games should be done to pick out obvious diving by players and issue bans for them then. That is the only real way to handle cheating. Arsenal get away with it game in game out, and tbh I couldnt care less now. They are just making themselves look bad now. As long as Spurs dont cheat I am happy.

However, what really needs to be done - very soon indeed - is european refs need to be shown how the Premiership works. Our refs work in a different way here, our game is more physical. In Europe refs stop play every five minutes when a player nudges into another player. They also have a complete inability to spot cheating and divers. European refs need a crash course on the modern game by the looks of it. That annoys me more than anything. After our Sevilla games I had massive respect for Premiership refs. Btw... what a great result against the goons. I loved crushing their spirits in the last seconds. Brilliant fun. COYS!!!

I'm a bit embarrased that so many of us are trying to make excuses by suggesting we have an innordinate amount of poor refereeing decisions against us or that we suffer excess bad luck?! A few of you need to grow up - its swings a roundabouts - always has been, always will be. Perhaps it shouldn't have been a free kick, but there were a few times when decisions could easily have gone against us but didn't. In any case, you are all missing the point. Great teams rise above adversity, not use it as an excuse. At the end of the day in spite of the penalty for Seville, we should have one the tie, but threw it away within 7 minutes. Against Chelsea, we were 3-1 up and blew it - it was irrelevant whether Cole should have been sent off or not, we still had our chance. The same goes for the 1-2 at the lane. Carvalho probably should have been sent off, but it would not have changed the outcome of the game.

Sorry i'm with the writer, the top four are better than the others obviously, but they are aided week in and week out by fortunate refereeing decisions. And all Spurs seem to win year in and year out is fair play awards, which is why Zokora got slaughtered, its so un spurs like. In the games that are mentioned, Savilla, Manure (goaline) the Arse' Chelski, like it or lump it, it's a fact there were only ONE goal in it. ONE goal was the diffrerence between winning and loosing, so YES that bad decision Is a valid excuse. I know we were shambolic saturday and probably deserved to loose, no wonder we're terrified to put a tackle in when every (90%) decision goes against us when it matters (Zokora excluded). Look at maure dead sure conceeded penalty, result, as usual nothing!! in summary the top four are protected, and it helps keep them, (but not makes them mind you) top four.

Quit whining. Remember around the time of the second leg of the Carling Cup Semi? Not only in that match, but matches prior - Denilson kept getting free kicks awarded against him in dangerous situations which lead to goals. In no way were they free kicks/fouls, and Wenger quite rightly pointed out the cards to foul ratio against Arsenal, the most intensive in the league. Stop playing victim, and start blaming your mediocre players for a mediocre club.

Agreed. We lost because we couldn't defend a set piece if our lives depended on it, not because of dodgy officiating. That said, I have watched Spurs for 35 years and can't say as I've seen the cycle go to the point that Spurs get the long end of the stick while ManU and Liverpool get the short end. If it's to come around, I hope that it's while I'm alive. Video in football is pointless except for the "did it cross the line?" issue. As for diving, the officials can only call what they see and I believe that they do the best that they can. To eradicate diving, here's my suggestion. All matches are reviewed. In the event of an obvious dive, the player and his manager get a warning. Any subsequent dive by the same player and that player is ruled ineligible for the next league or cup game, the player may not be replaced (team plays with 10 men), and the manager is fined. Further transgressions come with longer bans (team still plays down the player) and sterner fines. This way the player and team get a warning, but the policing is really left up to the team as everyone will suffer if the cheating continues. Players like Ronaldo and Robben would be stopped from their constant attempt to make their respective national diving teams and the game will be the beneficiary. Until something is done though, lets sort out the defending of our own goal and perhaps find someone who can get a cross in from the right or the left in offence. It's really quite sad and has been for over a decade. COYS - sort it out.

I was amazed at the yellow for Berbatov. He was pushed around a bit by Diaby and elbowed in the face by Lehman. He did nothing himself other than trying to stand his ground. Diaby didn't do much to rate a yellow either but Lehman's act was deliberate and deserved a red.

Exactly what I'm saying Lehman does it all the time, how did berba get booked, yet that pr1ck gunnerb, says we're looking for excuses, if he could read, I said the top four may still be the top four, but don't need the obvious helping hand they contantly get, and the arse' are the biggest bunch of diving c**** on the planet, look at when two of there players bumped into each other, and keano rightly scored while they rolled around like they'd been shot, pathetic w******. Youv'e only got to look at rosicky and he collapses. It's natural for them as thats the norm in the leagues they come from. What happened to the real men of football.

Foreign refs are *****e full stop. That's why we faced such dodgy decisions in the sevilla game. The did you not see the joke who was ref in the Villareal Barca game? our refs are the best in the game, they are prone to the odd error but not as bad as the foreign lot who get everything wrong. We can look to balme refs but it is our lack of ability to defend properly that costs us. As well as naivety and negativeness. Maybe they shouldn't have been fouls but come on we conceded 2 goals from free kicks, what do our defence and coach do all week in training????????

Mrcommonsense you just spoke common sense. For me the ref was fine and as for the foul the linesman was there and he could ahve esily told the ref that hudds had not touch the guy but if he did so what .. lets face it we gave 2 goals to a team that have a terrible record of not being able to score off corners.. Which says volumes about our defenders..

We can always moan the ref was poor. But just the same as chelc were ****e against Newcastle we can't blame our inability to defend properly on a ref. Just like chelc shouldn't blame their blunt non exitsent attacking threat on a conspiriacy

Granted, but I stress it's not my suggestion that if the ref made no mistakes for the entire game we'd have won, as clearly we were ****e on the day. and the arse' may have had some fortunate free kicks, but they also hit the woodwork half a dozen times, so could have won 5 -1. My point is, why do the so call big four always get blatant one sided decisions on so many occasions. FULL STOP
